Dallas Police Officers Beat Suspect on Motorcycle, Then Adjust Dash-Camera.

On September 5th, 3 Dallas Police Officers run after Andrew Collins riding his motorcycle. No excuse for running from Police, but on the dash-cam video released yesterday, officers are seen  kicking, punching and beating the man with a baton after chasing him at speeds of close to 60 mph through southeast Dallas. While the motorcycle is stopped they also seem to use the squad car to damage the bike.

Collins initially failed to pull over after officers turned on their lights and sirens when they spotted him riding his motorcycle on a sidewalk. In a second video, a police officer is clearly seen adjusting the dash-cam away from the view of the other officers and Andrew Collins. The Dallas Police Department has recommended that the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office charge the 3 officers with felony, tampering with physical evidence. The 2 videos are courtesy of Dallas PD.

After the jump, see a Dallas Police Officer adjust the dash-cam after assault.

Shame on the 3 police officers. Felony is 1 year minimum behind bars. Hope so.

@ 2:53 of the 1st video, the rider goes to the ground on his own, then gets clubbed. Yeah, his actions were really f ‘in stupid, but this all started by what? A motorcyclist being harassed by a douche cop simply because he parked on a sidewalk.

The cops instigated a situation. They created the situation.

  3. 3 Kirk Perry Sep 17th, 2010 at 11:39 am

The cops did the right thing. The rider couldn’t even find first gear on a couple of occasions.

The cops should have beat the kook with one of his beer bottles, and then stomped a mud hole into his gas tank and set it on fire, imo

I gotta feelin’ where the comments are going on this post so lemme say this loud and clear: Speaking from many personal experiences (and lots of episodes of COPS), if you run from an LEO -you’ve bought yourself some stick time. Anyone who believes different simply hasn’t had enough experiences with law enforcement. I don’t care how old you are, how you feel about it or where you’re from… you’re almost guaranteed to get Rodney King’d when they catch you. I got a wrist and a pair of ribs that reminds me of that fact every time it gets wet and cold for the last 15 years. Cops have a hard job to do; I haven’t met many that ask you to do something twice -before they make you do it.

  5. 5 just my opinion Sep 17th, 2010 at 11:50 am

I am certainly no fan of the cops but if you are going to say that what you have is a tape showing the cops beating a man and repeatedly damaging his bike with a police car . Shouldn’t the tape actually show that happening? I watched the tapes twice and saw the cops did use battons on this guy but the tape does not show the man and what he was doing. Was he fighting the cops? If so what should they do? Maybe give him the opportunity to grab a weapon? Maybe they should buy him dinner and a movie? And the so called beating lasted a whole 14 seconds, no exactly a severe asswiping is it. And your reporting that the tape CLEARLY shows the officer adjusting the camera away from the veiw is total bullshit. Look at the film the so called adjusting of the camera happens after everything was done and over with, looks more like an accidental bumping of the camera than an attempt to hide something. And repeadedly damaging the bike with the squad car? The car did hit the bike but repeatedly? it looks more like an accidental bump than intentionally repeatedly damaging the bike. Again more embellishment on the reporters part. If you want to be an unbiased reporter you must report things as they are NOT EMBELLISH THEM. And lets not forget this idiot could have ran one of those many stop signs and killed an innocent bystander. reporting ignorant behavior like this and defending it by saying the rider was treated badly only helps the cops to justify bad behavior in the future. We as motorcycle riders should only back riders that are doing what is lawful and not some idiot that will likely kill someone in the near future with their stupidity.
That idiot got just what he deserves. But some crybaby do-gooders will let him off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist and he will be on the streets again and next time he will likely kill some one with his ignorant behavior. I just hope he kills himself and not one of my family members or yours.

Just my opinion. Perhaps you should watch again the video. I know it’s small. The biker goes down on the ground by himself. No reason to beat him. The squad car bump the bike more than one time. It is admitted that the dash-cam was turned on purpose. The Chief of Dallas PD wants the 3 officers charged by the DA for felony, tampering evidence. But not you? What about honest commenting?

  7. 7 bigitch Sep 17th, 2010 at 12:06 pm

why is it every time you see one of these incidences, the police seem to amp up to a point that they are livid and angry.

as if they are out to strike down as if they are the arm of god?

is it because they think so highly of them selves that they can not imagine that someone might think differently than they do?

well people do stupid things, they always have and always will. no one can stop it from happening.

but is it a reason to get angry??? to beat somebody???

maybe it’s time they send the police to a norman vincent peele , or tony roberts class.

but wait i have friends who are police officers and guess what… they are all borderline lunatics. everyone of them and everyone of them in their department.

the kid broke the law by running away, the police broke the law by assualting him.

they should be put in jail and the kid given a million dollars for being the person who took an ass whipping to show the corruption in the texas police.

  8. 8 Bill Sep 17th, 2010 at 12:27 pm

You run from the cops you forfeit your rights… That would put an end to some of these chases.

  9. 9 just my opinion Sep 17th, 2010 at 2:02 pm

Johny Hess Like I said nowhere in the video can you see if the rider was fighting the cops. Just because this idiot falls down does not mean that he did not fight once the cops tryed to cuff him. I guess you must be able to see thru metal and therefore know the 14 second beating was intentional and unprevoked. Did YOU notice that the beating stop as soon as he was cuffed? And does it really matter if the camera was moved after the whole thing is over? Funny how people want to stop the cops from doing their job excessively but what if he had ran one of those many stop signs and killed your mother or sister or child. would you still want to defend him? I think this right here is a perfect example of why ouir country is being over ran by criminals. All you bleeding heart liberals don’t want the cops to do their job unless it effect you personally. You should go buy this guy diner as a reward for his stupidity. You may become BFF’s

  10. 10 Little Joe Sep 17th, 2010 at 3:20 pm

When I was a kid (35 years ago), if you ran from the cops, you were gonna get your ass kicked when you got caught. It was just part of the bargain.

  12. 12 Delski Sep 17th, 2010 at 4:52 pm

Run from Po Po’s = Stick Time these guys were just sloppy, they all would have had a better day if he would have just got off the bike and did what they said.

  13. 13 Jack Sep 17th, 2010 at 7:11 pm

cops use excessive force = lose their job.

    Hey Rick

nah there getting ready for Cinqo De Maio and that was a piñata they were hitting LOL

  15. 15 cooldaddy51 Sep 18th, 2010 at 6:52 am

Lets see,(a) punk on bike takes off with total disregard for anyone else on road, rides (b)on side walk without worrying about hitting man ,woman or child that might be on sidewalk (c) refuses to stop when alerted police are chasing him (d) Runs stop signs without worrying about killing anyone else never mind himself. The way I see it don’t bother with the baton ,put a round in him and write your report. JUSTIFIED. To Serve and Protect !

This is .. DALLAS ( my stomping grounds )..

Guy could barely ride a bike…. one would assume he stole it. He drove the bike like an idiot… i’m surprised the cops didn’t run his ass over sooner. They should have drug his ass out of the camera view before sticking him.

Addtionally he fought getting cuffed.. which is why the thumped his ass..

  17. 17 Jeff Nicklus Sep 18th, 2010 at 9:34 am

Dallas is my home town …. growing up there everyone knew that if you screwed up enough to get the cops on your butt that when you were caught you had an ass whipping coming before you even made it to the police station to be locked up. It is what it is! This fool deserved the ass whipping …. maybe next time when the cops try and stop him he pulls over and does not resist arrest.

1550tc: Pinata …. I like that! Bet this fool thought he was on the Gong Show!

    Over & Out,

    Jeff

cooldaddy51 you must be a cop,did you see what time at night it was?Did you see any kids?Did you see where he was riding, mostly he avoided everything and everyone, and nobody has the right to beat you with a batton unless you pose a threat,or don’t you get it?P.S.It was his bike legally look it up…..

  19. 19 Brett Sep 18th, 2010 at 10:16 am

1st, would never want the cops job. While some of us complain about cops & their attitude, just imagine the numerous douche bags cops have to deal with every hour.

Bottom line, if the guy on the bike was an innocent man of anything, then he should have stopped once the lights went on. Don’t care if he was going to be harassed by an a-hole cop for parking on the sidewalk as someone mentioned, or not. If you have nothing to hide, then stop, let the cop bitch & go about your day.

  20. 20 gravey158 Sep 18th, 2010 at 11:47 am

  21. 21 martin Sep 18th, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Rick you must be a real hoot at party’s,however the DA didn’t see it your way thank GOD one officer is fired and one is on leave till after the investigation without pay, even the police have rules of engagement.

  25. 25 Dave Blevins Sep 18th, 2010 at 8:16 pm

The rider was obviously driving recklessly and evading, and while his speed was not that fast he clearly blew through some stop signs, rode into oncoming traffic and even onto the sidewalk and in my opinion the guy seemed impaired… or maybe he just couldn’t ride very well.
In any case he should have stopped when the blue lights came on… bottom line, he earned a beatin’, not to mention he was resisting the handcuffs too, so that probably earned him the bike damage, which the cop driving the cruiser should pay to repair.
Too much adrenaline on both sides… but this guy should have expected a little rough treatment after that moonlite ride, the bike however was innocent.

  26. 26 Zyon Sep 19th, 2010 at 8:40 am

Both sides of this story are interesting but I feel more for the cops. Guys like this are why WE ALL get the evil eye when we fill our bikes up at the gas station. Being a cop in a major city is stressful and dangerous. Had I done what this guy did, I’d fully expect to get a “bump” before getting in the squad car.

Regardless if you think parking on the sidewalk is a crime, obviously in Texas, it is and the police had the right to speak to the guy. He ran, which caused the lives of the officers and citizens to be in danger. HE should man up, and testify on the behalf of these officers and admit he was a douche bag and they did the right thing.

I watched the full video and only saw five or six hits with the stick. I as a citizen wanted to shove my foot up his ass. I as a biker, wanted to remove the wheel from his bike so he could never give us a bad name again.

  27. 27 Paul Sep 19th, 2010 at 5:14 pm

    The dueshbag deserved it.
God know if someone was walking or riding at the right time the damage it could have caused a 3rd party. Good old policing… Something our society has seemed to forgotten and think not want.

  28. 28 nicker Sep 19th, 2010 at 10:54 pm

That idiot put not only himself in danger but every one else out there.
Hopefully that whooping he got will make him think before he pulls that stunt again.

As far as the Cop go…..
When the light start flashing “the-jig-is-up” ….. that’s how the game is played.
(don’t know what was going on on the ground there, but resisting isn’t a good idea)
Bottom line: If you makes a Cop risk his life in such a chase, your in for an ass kicking.

Don’t know why people are still willing to be Cops. Doesn’t look like a fun job to me.
It’s a good thing some still want to do it, but they won’t for long if this is the sort of support they get from their management.

That video showed some clown riding off a sidewalk, diagonally across an intersection, and attempting a “Hale-Mary escape.”

    A message to that dufus:
Before ya try ditching Cops on a scooter, you better know how to ride.
Fat, Drunk, & Stupid is no way to go through life son.

STOP RESISTING……… Dumb ass deserved a beat down the red and blue means stop, I bet it would have been real sweet if he would have ran into a kid or caused a accident but Im sure THAT would have been the cops fault …..right? Sorry I hate when I here everyone blaming a cop I have been riding like an asshole for a long time , been pulled over a few times as well …to date never had my ass kicked by an officer, in fact never even got a ticket… its funny how decent someone can be when you are decent in return….

  30. 30 Darryl Sep 20th, 2010 at 10:24 am

Geeezz, you can’t see if the guy was stuggling, and if he was, he got what he deserved. Good job cops. And if you don’t like it, then obey the law or stay the fuck out of Dallas and Texas.

  31. 31 Jack Sep 20th, 2010 at 12:23 pm

In the end, the cops have transferred some of the focus onto them instead of this rider.

The cops are about to lose their job and some of the focus has shifted from being 100% on stupid riding to the excessive force, regardless of the supportive comments above. There would be NO discussion if the cops did not use the baton (did not have to anyway), & instead stuffed the guy in the car and put the FULL attention on his ass. That is one reason why “excessive” force should not be used. It’s all on film so no attorney is going to waste his/her time defending this rider. If there is an attorney that would, then no judge is going to be swayed…..unless of course, the focus is diluted with excessive force.

In the end, the Police Chief and/or his staff is spending more time on this rider than is necessary.

  32. 32 cwglide Sep 20th, 2010 at 5:14 pm

You all have good points. Constable On Patrol (COP’s) is a dangerous job. His life is on the line in most cases. Scariest thing is pulling a car over and dealing with the unexpected. But i have to draw the line when I got pulled over and just because i was a patch holder 3 squad cars were on me and the the COP that pulled me over just wanted to profile me with stupid questions nothing to do with the reason why i was pulled over. I ended up with a fix-it ticket (i paid the $125.00 fine) due to modified exhaust (f**king Calif). Yeah COP’s are following orders and doing what they are told, but lets use some common sense out there. I think that day they watched to much Gangland. According to law enforcement all patch holders are motorcycle gangs last i heard. That is like saying all COP’s are corrupt. Where is the love.

  33. 33 Jeff Sep 20th, 2010 at 5:20 pm

Everyone is going to get what is coming to them. The cops and the idiot.

Should have killed the crackhead then we would have one less asshole roaming the streets.Attaboy Dallas police Dept.Should have stuck the Billyclub up his ass.

  36. 36 just my opinion Sep 22nd, 2010 at 11:39 am

Dallas is a great city. I have family there and have spent much time in the city and surrounding areas. I say this guy got just what he asked for. Had he just sat on his bike at the sidewalk the cop would have likely just told him to move it and don’t do that again. I doubt he would have even gotten a ticket but the dumbass wanted to run and as a result he got a small ass whipping. SO What next.

  37. 37 Bigal Sep 22nd, 2010 at 8:57 pm

You think He was Black !@#$%^&*&^%$#@ That would explain it!

  38. 38 Bigal Sep 22nd, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Nobody deserves that kind of treatment, unless he Harmed or Hurt a Family Member. Which Idiot said he deserved the Beating cause he couldn’t finf first gear? And what Idiot said he deserved that cause he was resisiting……….You moron, If you got whacked in the Ribs a few times you would have put your Arms up to keep from getting beatin with the Clubs, You Idiots. Yeah Make that a LAW you run from the Cops, you forfeit your rights. Let’s see Dont Mess with Texas, probably the most true statement, everytime I dealt with a Texan, it was Lies, Stories and never the Truth.
