Always exciting to hear about an old brand being revived. Problem is that the first new Horex model released in 50 years does absolutely nothing to me, and I hear to many professional observers in Germany. And it’s a pity because the new engine – a 1218 cc triple overhead camshaft supercharged VR6 engine with six cylinders arranged in two rows of three- is absolutely unique in the world. It was was originally developed with the help of Volkswagen.
If the VR6 engine clearly defines this new model character, I don’t think that the overall design is going to appeal to many potential buyers already afraid of “testing” at their own risk a new motorcycle from a new brand, even if resurrected. The world doesn’t need another motorcycle company, except if the products offered bring both new technology and seductive aesthetics. Not one or the other… Initial production in 2011 in Europe and then US and Canada is projected to be in the thousands. Let’s see…
I’m glad to see Horex make a comeback. Even if the bike proves to be unpopular, the motor should be a hit. I’d love to see Werner stick four of those into a “Red Porsche Killer II.”

Is this really German? It looks Chinese, it has all the parts that a “motorcycle” needs but there is no cohesion to its design. And what are those tacky bits on the engine? I’m not sure this is a motorcycle at all; it’s one of those diecast “motorcycles” found in __marts toy aisle.
A VR6 engine in a compact, standard motorcycle = super fast and all day comfort. I’d gladly try one out!
One of the few things that needs changed on this bike are the aluminum parts on the engine. It appears they were trying to put out the 3 cams and “V” arrangement of the in-line motor. If those are machined in a more stylish way, this motor would be intense.
The rest of the bike is a quality looking standard bike. Very appealing to many. Not everything has feet forward with no lean angle.

Trick engine, decent styling- the “standard” look that Europe likes….
I dunno- Benelli came out a few years ago with some pretty over-styled bikes, they never really caught on…. However, the Benellis also had some teething problems that I can’t see occurring in a VW-designed engine, either…..
Kinda reminds me of the Triumph Triple or an early V-Max- you’re buying the engine and tolerating the rest of the package-
I’d like to try one- price point is everything.
