Not a typo, this custom is called Nascafe Racer, not Nescafe! or Nesscafe!!! It was built by Shaw Speed & Custom the custom division of Brighton, UK based Shaw Harley-Davidson. Not your average official Harley-Davidson dealership. Shaw HD has won 6 times in 7 years The “Bar And Shield” award fromthe factory for its customer service excellence and its within the dealership custom department collects bike show awards in Europe and was the 1st place winner in the modified Harle-Davidson class at the Sturgis AMD World Championship Of Bike Building. And of course when you are the World Champion in your category you want to keep your title in 2011. Looking for sponsorship to finance a new project Steve Willis, head of the Speed & Custom design wing of the dealership, approached master watchmaker Bell & Ross who approved the bike design you see here.
It is based on a Harley-Davidson® FXSTB Softail® Nightrain, one of the favorite models chosen by custom builders when going the extremely modified Harley-Davidson route. Of course, to arrive to this result the project required a complete strip down of the factory model to the last nut and bolt and a meticulous one-off fabrication and rebuilding. I don’t have yet the full tech sheet of the bike (I see a lot of RSD covers), but one evident “watchmaker” component is the iconic Bell & Ross time instrument (BR 01 Carbon) integrated in an aluminum handcrafted center console with the watch mounting positioned for the rider to know precisely (if necessary) how much time he has been riding. Readers in Europe, take note of the shows where you can see this custom bike before its trip to Sturgis in August.
