The Motorcycle Diaries

5 riders (Victor, Jocelyn, Stephan, Clare and Tyler), 50 States from Anchorage to Hawaii, 25,000 miles on Harley-Davidson motorcycles (rumored to be the main sponsor) for a pan-America journey in search of themselves and a country they only think they know. A once in a lifetime adventure and opportunity for personal growth that will ultimately shape their future and perhaps for some, provide a more private chance to leave their past behind them. The Motorcycle Diaries will start mid-june and will be documented on film during 50 weeks and on social media like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Should be interesting and can bring new young people to the sport. No doubt that the further they will travel, the more they will feel the world changing, but as a matter of fact it will be them…

HD needs to connect to younger people. They should hook up with MTV and make a reality show out of it. The trailer reminds me of the Real World shows. I could see young people watching the show. Whether or not they will go out and buy an HD is another story.

HD has bigger marketing needs to get younger riders involved then a show such as this, unfortunately.

Maybe like a bike that younger people can afford that actually appeals to them. Just sayin’…

What the hell is this, follow hipsters on their ride?

This does look painful. I don’t see any way to relate to them or their story. There Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/tmdamerica) is filled with comments that are obviously staged, and their images aren’t of bikes, but of one of the guys in his underwear.

Great idea of 50 weeks in 50 states…horrible execution of the idea though.

Damn…Are we sure that Stephan is not Conrad Nicklus in disguise?

I say go for it and make the most of it….give ’em all credit for the efforts and all arrive the destination safely with lots of great stories to tell.

If yer around the Sioux Falls, SD area give me a jingle @605-359-2876. Got a free bed ‘n breakfast [hot showers, comfy beds, relax a bit] waitin’ for ya. Take Care, Wiz

I’ve been riding since 1966. Most of my friends have tattoos that were put on by themselves in high school or in prison. We rode bikes cobbled together out of milk crates from swap meets. The road will change you, sometimes good, sometimes dead. God bless everyone on two wheels. Here is wishing these kids all the best.

I’d love to watch a show about doing all 50 states on the bike, but these aren’t the people I want to watch doing it. Guess I’ll just need to do it myself and film it.

Harley has been stating that they want to increase there sales to Blacks and Latinos, this would have been a great opportunity to do just that, by involving them in the ride. I see no reason to watch this show.
