This summer on The Discovery Channel (programmation dates to be announced), a 3-way Biker Build-Off series in which the builders will be pitting their teams and expertise against each other to see who is the best Custom Builder. Nielsen Ratings are going to explode. The winner is custom building… (to follow…)

The concept was suggested by readers a long time ago when father & son were under the same roof. Glad the show is booked by the Discovery Channel. 3 builders competing is better than 2. Lot of fun.
I wish JJ would stick to his roots and quit appealing to the media whores.

Hopefully “P. T Barnum & Son” will be forced to actually build their own bikes themselves and not simply “Instruct” their computer/labor flunkies on what they expect the bike to look like, naturally instructions will be given while holding a drinking cup in their hands and chewing some item with their mouths open. If P.T. & P.T. Jr. actually do build the bikes themselves, JJ will have the only bike finished on time and will kick their asses at the final judging.
In any case the show will be a shot in the arm for the industry, what there is left of an industry anyway!

Paul Jr. won the Rat’s Hole in Daytona what seven or eight years ago, back when it was sparsely entered, lightly attended, and free. It was a unique bike at the time, but that is all they have really done. They were in the right place with the right freak show at the right time, and the rest is TV history. James is the real deal when it comes to custom bikes, although he climbed on that media circus too when the dollars came calling. The sad thing is that there are so many talented builders out there that they could have featured. The original biker build-off was a good show when it showcased a lot of different talent. I would rather see another season of that show.

Im sorry but these guys are far from being the only great bike builders. There are way too many other builders out there that deserve to be in these competition. TV companies just want to play off the drama that is going on in these guys lives to their advantage instead of their bike building abilities.
Don’t get me wrong they are all great builders but there are just too many other builders out there that could beat these guys very easily. The bikes these guys build have not won any major shows in a very long time so it just shows that the TV companies just do not want to do it for the bike building. Its all about drama

I’d rather see Paul Cox, Rick, and Vinny. Vin had his own shop after leaving the OCC ornament shop, last I knew his website was still up. Rick unleashed from the Sr influence would build some excellent bikes, and we all know what Paul C. is capable of.
Hotch and Goldhammer are good choices, but from the bikes I’ve seen them turn out without time restraints, it’s pure injustice to their engineering genius to have them churn out a bike under a film schedule.
The fact that they are all “known” by the public and have the previous media exposure not to turn into puppet posers during filming could be the catalyst for a new rise.

Maybe this is what we need to kickstart the “craze” again. JJ is what really got the whole thing rolling in the first place when Discovery channel made motorcycle mania 1. It is like it has come full circle. I hate what the market and the life have become due to the Discovery Channel and the following of rubs and yuppies they have.. But lets face it.. We are all hanging on to our passion by a thread right now. It is being regulated and legislated to extinction and Al Gore will have everyone on a 36 volt battery with wheels before you know it

I agree with the other guys, why are people wanting builders that have been on TV before. Those guys have a ‘name’ and are probably still doing OK in there business. I would be much MORE interested in a new show with NEW talent. There are a ton of AWESOME fabricators / engineers that would throw down some sick projects if given the chance. Even myself being featured on the Easyrider Tour didn’t do anything for my business, it’s really only TV that takes great fab guys too the next level. Let’s get some new blood out there.

The man who created “Radial Hell” vs. the Drama Queens of American Chopper. Hmmm, this is going to be close. This should be the rules one man, one gaurge,one month, and a fifteen grand budget. That would make it intresting.
Here’s what I think the rules should be if this is going to happen. No wide tire bikes (Widest allowed should be 150),no gimmicky themes,and all team captains(Jesse,Paul Sr. and Paul Jr.) need to to the metal shaping themselves i.e. tanks,fenders,exhaust and handlebars,frames. Only thing they could have help on team wise is wiring and plumbing. Jesse automatically wins by default. There’s only one true fabricator in that group,and it’s Jesse.
@Boss: Jesse isn’t racist buddy. If you know him,you know that he hangs out with everyone regardless of race. The picture of him in the SS Waffen cap was a joke,and the picture was published out of context. I’ve worn one of those same exact caps,as a joke,and I’m far from racist. I’m white,and married to a beautiful Hispanic woman,and my brother is half Mexican. Get your head out of the tabloids and stop believeing everything you see on the internet. I know Jesse,and yeah,he screwed up with Sandy,but that’s his life,not yours. Bet you cheated on a gal or two in your time. Paul Jr. already proved he doesn’t do anything on his own when he was busted for plagiarism for releasing a shirt for his shop with a picture of another companies custom bike on it,then claimed he had no idea because the guy he hired to design it never told him where the design came from.

Since the players have been picked I think it should be started out with a pile of raw tubing, sheet stock. Keep the exotic tools away and see what the builders come up with. We have seen plenty of episodes of Paul sr. and Paul jr. picking up the phone and ordering nice custom made parts from talented fabricators. I don’t ever recall seeing either Teutel picking up a bossing mallet and beating metal into submission. Paul sr. may be business smart but he has dumb hands. We all know Jesse is the real craftsman in this debacle but I’m sure the producers will make a circus out of the whole thing. I just hope between stupid camera shots that we will see Jesse in the shop working with his hands. Sure beats the tell all book.

In a country that supports the world’s worst television (Jerry Springer et al) why would you be surprised at the television (fake entertainment) execs choice of builders? Interesting too, is the number of responses the Teutuls or Jesse always create when featured on this blog. Bet most of you will watch even while denying that you do so. This series will be great for the industry, great for inspiring young guys to get into motorcycling. What’s not to like?
Look at the number of comments on this article and the number of comments on the article just above (Black Vincent). Doesn’t this tell you the type of society we live in? Showbiz winning against talent & hard work. Cyril has more difficulties promoting a true builder than promoting entertainment. So sad.

If Sr and Jr don’t get someone to sponsor their builds, it will be a one horse race, well its already a one horse race. But you all know we all will be watching.
It is TV people and because of that small fact this show will have very little to do with talent or creativity. But the good news is they “all three” will make a fat check and get a boost is their own popularity. It will not matter who wins. They all have won just by getting this show. And the fact that we all took the time to comment on it proves it will be a success.
I hear everybody talking all kinds of trash about everything and most dont know what they are talking about.
Just like one guy said JJ started the chopper revolution…. well your wrong…. Choppers Unlimited was the first buisness that brought choppers back to the main stream and they started in Mexico.
I have met all 3 people mentioned above and I could say good things and bad about all 3, the fact is they all rode the coat tails of the chopper craze just like many others, most of which have long been forgoten, closed. out of buisness, whatever you want to say about it.
The simple fact is JJ will be the first to tell you that he feels responsible for the demise of chopperdome, that is why he stopped doing motorcycle shows after MM3, he knew that it was going to fast and soon it would start to fall, he was smart about it…..Many others rode it trying to get the last dollar and they wound up loosing everything, just ask Big dog, Kendel Johnson, Detriot brothers, and countless others.

I agree with Marc Mazerolle a 100%!!!!! Kevin Baas, Steve Jones and Darin Maltsberger not only are doing truly great things with high school kids but they are damn good people as well and I feel fortunate enough to be able to call them all my friends!!! Pay attention Discovery Channel!!!

Almost ALL the OCC bikes I have seen built look too uncomfortable to ride more than the one mile test drive they do on the show after completion. Build one that you can enjoy. Not just something to look at!

Wow It is had for me to believe that many people in this industry do not realize that OCC really gave us a huge boost. Both father and son are approachable nice people and what happened to the industry after their first show would not have happened if it were not for them. I think we owe them a little more respect than you all are giving them. Jessie we all know is a great builder. It is a natural for a TV show. No one would watch if it were any of the (unknown to the public) builders mentioned above. Hopefully this will give our industry a well needed boost. Good luck to all 3!
If this is what it takes to get Biker Build Off back on TV, I’m all for it. Those shows were a tremendous boon to our industry. I hope that it is successful and leads to many more builders being showcased.

OCC also has Rick and he’s no slouch when it comes to making parts from scratch. Anyway, if this build off actually happens it will be entertaining.

The Teutels, love them or hate them. You have to hand it to them for keeping the custom bike building industry in the forefront and help keep it alive. If it wasn’t for them, the gurggling of the custom bike craze swirling down the drain would’ve echo’d long ago. Sure their bikes are extreme theme bikes, it’s like the fashion industry, some tend to look gaudy, but there’s something on one of their bikes that’ll appeal and inspire someone building a custom bike.
Yea they get to be obnoxious at times, keep in mind it’s a scripted tv show.
I don’t know about Sr and Jr, but I like JJ. I have been reading his column in Heavy Duty magazine, and
he is an american success story. A regular guy thrust into it all and it all got out of controll. Funny how
having kids realy gives you perspective on what is important. Go JJ!
Definitely jumping the shark. But I’m sure everyone’s making a lot of money and I’ll probably watch it just to see Jesse build a bike again.

The interesting thing is to see exactly WHAT they build. Choppers, Streettrackers, bobbers, etc. So many genres have been coming and going during the rise fall and now rebirth of East/West custom scene.
As far as TV drama, thats part of it, would rather watch that than 30 minutes of commercial breaks wedged into a 1 hour program.
Hopefully they won’t go with an accelerated build schedule. I always thought the 30 day build-offs were better. Too many parts pre-fabricated on the 10 day builds…
I think it is just great. Finally mainstream America can see what a true fabricator is like. Hopefully people can tell the difference. In my opinion, Paul Sr is a business man, Paul Jr is a designer, and Jesse James is a fabricator, plus designer and also a business man. I can’t wait to see it. Jesse James is completely on another level. No disrespect ment towards the Teutuls, they are doing something right with the success that they have had, but they have received too much hype in light of what alot of others builders are able to achieve without any credit.

Marc and Roadside Marty……..thanks. You guys are my friends and brothers in the fight to bring the generation “Y” students into the fold of the bike build culture. I think it would be great to get Baas, Jones, Mazz, and several others that are trying to educate our youth and instill a confidence in themselves by building bikes, together for a biker build off. Let the teachers coach, and the students build……100% Get some industry leaders to sponsor product for the builds, get the legends to judge the work, Have the “Horse” and “Cycle Source” , “Broken Spoke Salloon” do the promotional work………..Hell………call it a revival! Let’s face it……everybody who is anybody in this industry today was once a nobody. And nobody succeeds without a little help from his/her friends. I have spent the better part of my life obsessed with iron,fuel and speed as well as living as close to the edge of socially acceptable as possible. I teach today because it’s time for someone younger to carry that torch. Come on fellas…….screw Discovery Channel………..Bet this would make a better story for you Jesse.

Darin, the Discovery Channel, Jesse, the Teutuls care only about money. Nice what you do. But they don’t care about what you do if it doesn’t bring them money. Having your kids in a TV show is zero audience. It’s the way it is. Blame society.
While most of you guys here are (still) debating who is the biggest Hollywood whore, those guys are making money (big money) with TV shows and commercials (Jr just shot one for Dr Pepper which was actually good). This is smart for Discovery to do this for the ratings. Jesse James is still getting pretty beat up by the media and if you are listening to radio shows on the west coast, they’re not very friendly to the guy.
The ratings are good for the Jr vs Sr show and advertising rates were up 24%. You even start seeing some people like J&P Cycles or Biker’s Choice trying to place banners on the episodes.
None of the people you guys are mentioning here can come close to OCC or JJ as far as dragging crowds. I don’t see Jesse James making an unveiling in Daytona or somewhere else, nor I see ANY bike builders in this industry that had clients like Gilette, TransAm, Snapon or the NY Jets.
As Joe mentioned, those guys have done more for the industry than all of us combined. They can sell $60 t-shirts and release crappy CDs of their bands, right books about banging strippers and drinking beer. Give me one name who has come close to this over the past 10 years?
The OCC style has improved, they have great workers who know what they are doing (on both sides) and even if some of the details are sometimes weird, those have to be there for the clients. They are the ones paying the bills.
You can predict that Paul Jr will win this biker build off to bump his brand recognition and image and you can predict that Jesse James will build the nicest bike and that Jr and Sr will talk at the end of the episode.
This is TV for masses, pure marketing geniuses and good money for all of them and the announcers.
In a world where you have a show for people collecting coupons or making cakes or fat ladies jumping in muddy water, the episodes are actually better than ever. They are on at 9 pm on a Monday against heavy competition which shows they are working well for the network.
There is no lower standards for Jesse or others wanting to be on TV. This is business and TV is a huge marketing tool. End of story.
For all those involved. It is very hard to stop a serious down hill run in life, some never do and flame out. I am sure the money is where it is at, but making a clown of yourself for TV? Gota be a better way to make money or learn to live on less.
You have to realize something. The Teutuls are not in the “motorcycle” business. They are in the TV business plain and simple. Without Discovery Channel there is no Paul Jr. Designs or OCC. Its that simple.
Do you actually think in ten years of OCC being on TV, that ANY of the companies that have been spotlighted on the program give one shit about the “motorcycle”? Hell no they don’t! Snapon, Craftsman, Joe Blow Lincoln Welders, wouldn’t have gave one damn if the Teutuls built a motorcycle or a chrome shitter. The companies are getting an HOUR of television time from Discovery for about $3Million. Do you guys understand what an HOUR of television time costs? An HOUR of prime time talking about your new 3D 5 axis dick scratcher or Mother in law visiting at Christmas Insurance policy for accidental death? These companies aren’t paying the Teutuls. Discovery pays the Teutuls for the bikes. In the business model, the bikes are an afterthought. The Teutuls don’t even make money on the bikes. What they care about are the t-shirts and trinket shit they sell at Daytona or the themes choke and puke restaurant in Disney or Vegas with the name. Its Marketing garbage to the masses. The Teutuls if they were being honest would be the first to tell anyone, they cant sell a $60K motorcycle or a $10K set of custom cut wheels and pay the bills. They know this for a fact. look at the failed attempts at production bikes and all their bullshit parts business. Before Discovery, at one time OCC actually made affordable custom motorcycles. They actually sold some. Try to find and ask some of those owners about the bikes? They were unrideable garbage and the owners spent most of their time in litigation with the warranty underwriter trying to get them to run long enough to get rid of them.
Christ, when Jr. walked away from OCC the first time, who’s lawyers do you think drafted that piece of crap contract regarding the 20% shares of OCC? Not Jr. Not Sr. it was Discovery’s, in nothing more then an attempt to protect and continue the TV franchise.
Do you think its a mystery why Jr and Sr. business ownership/share contract wasn’t enforceable from a valuation standpoint and failed in state supreme court? Because it was written by a bunch of TV/media hack lawyers to start with, who in a strategically brilliant move had both Jr. and Sr. by the balls with a TV contract that was potentially in breach.
Its easy to bust the balls of the Teutuls on their motorcycle building techniques and ability. One has to understand something, its not been about the motorcycles to the Teutuls since the minute after the very first episode of OCC aired on TV and it was a ratings boom! From that moment they went from a typical small garage father/son custom motorcycle operation to a full blown TV/Entertainment T-shirt and mouse pad hucksters. Nothing more.
Some people will do almost anything for money, and attention.
I guess “class” and “integrity”, went the way of “common sense”.

Another way is that there will be a thousand or two thousand or 20 thousand Industry people watching this Build off. This TV Network does not care that Jessie Builds Raw and the OCC Boys Build with other People. They want to sell space and all you Bloggers on Cyrill”s site wont mean that much in the Purchasing Power of the Sponsors. The other thing that you got to figure is that the Junior and Sr. are bpretty savy and they can Build a Bike that will out sell a Jessie James Bike anyday. Another way to look at the Senior and Jr. Team is they probably have Built 10 X’s as many Bikes or have been part of the Building of that many more Bikes than Jessie James. BrockinFLA has summarized what it is all about. Bottom line, if any of us would have the call from a network to be on TV for next 10 years, get paid for yelling at people or be followed on a run to Mexico with Kid Rock, we would all do it in a minute.
Real TV is fake but so is most of the TV entertainment. This is not about motorcycle and has never been (maybe the first 3 episodes were).
More power to the ones who actually saw the potential to get rich and move forward when most of the rest were still trying to figure out how to bend some pipes in our garages/shops.

I don’t have the time to read all of them so this may be repeat but it’s all real simple….good ol’ American business…lots of drama and lots of air time for all three of them means lots of fans….lots of fans means lots of eyeballs on the TV Screen and tons of dough for the Discovery Channel! Kudos to them for setting it up. As for who’ll win…if it’s like all the other build-offs, the fans in a crowd at some rally will be the voters so once again the most popular will win…if they can build or not!

I am sure that they won’t do it this way, but they need to bring them in some tubing and sheet metal, empty motor and tranny case, all bearings, seals, motor and tranny internals and really have them build the bike. I have seen Jesse do it, Paul jr do some of it and Paul Sr tell someone to do while talking about how many bikes he has done before. Lets see them all do it. I know, I know,,, too much to ask.

While I agree that these guys are not the premier builders of our day , they will draw the biggest tv crowd and that is certainly what Discovery is goin for. I am interested and would watch this before the reality blubber fest goin on now. The problem is producing a program that appeals to both custom builder purists
and the general public who are more likely to watch for the personal drama interaction. I will tolerate the latter to get a fix of some good fabrication and engineering which gives birth to some unique , ” biker cool ” pieces. If the building portion is the same old tired design themes , ( webs , antlers, diablos etc. ) mingled with a healthy dose of cuss-fightin dysfunctionism , count me out . I would like to see all these guys get down to some serious design and fabrication without the corporate influences of boots, insurance and lawn mowers. I’m ready and dubious.

Paul Jr always promotes his group PJD it shows when the team is there for a bike unveil. Paul Sr likes to take all the credit even though he does little of the work. It showed in the Cadillac Build Off.

Paul Sr. on an aftershow Q&A on DC already predicted the outcome based on this being essentially a popularity contest and not a comparison of the buids and what will go into them etc. He places J.J. 1st, PJD 2nd, and OCC last based on his acknowledgement that right now they’re not very popular with the public / fans. Right out of Sr.’s mouth….
His approach to this however is a competetion against his own team’s ability to exceed previous creations, Might be a realization that he’s just not able to compete with Jr. and J.J. thereby saving some face by already admitting defeat, or it could be as he says, losing by lack of popularity,
Basically I’m with the ‘J.J.can outbuild them both’ group, especially if building from scratch -at least as much as humanly possible and within reason, leaving out all the pre-assembled computer designed C&C crap.
Popularity vote outcome= J.J. and Jr. a tossup for 1st, and OCC last. No matter how or by whom this gets judged, there’s no way to keep personal opinion and bias out of the judging unless it’s judged by people who don’t know any of the contestants, but who know at least a little about choppers or at least basic motorcycles. Don’t see that being possible in this day and age though. No way to make this a true fair competition IMO.
Actually if there was a way to make an interesting enough show leading up to the unveils (without showing even one little part of the bikes), and then unveiling them on the public with only a number and no association with the builder; they might have a fair contest.
That’s how some music award contests I’ve entered and are judged, The music entries have numbers and there is no way to know who the composer is- especially at the finals level where the five finaist’s songs get sent out of state to music industry capitals (again with only a number), to be judged by music industry pros and artists.
Occ will not even be a contender in this but I truly believe It will be a knock down drag out between jr and jesse. They both do great work and anyone that says jr cant compete with jesse has not seen the gears of war trike. That thing was amazing. I am A 100% paul jr fan but I know jesse’s work and I know he can compete with jr but anyone who says its its going to be a blowout either way is only kidding their self. JR, and Jesse are both great in their own way sr is the only joke without a chance of winning in this challenge. BTW has jesse ever made a see through tank on a bike ?? I think not… Good Luck to them both… And sr can kiss my A$$…

Let’s look at this at a new angle.
OCC is going to turds. JR is going to be “American Choppers” the show unless Sr. sues everyone on the planet and has some clause in a contract drafted in a hurry before the millions got so large. The new show will be “American Design-The Showdown” or something. Jesse James is there to replace OCC. The problems, the crap bikes, the lawsuits, the negative ratings every time Sr is on TV, the assclown factor. Nobody wants to see the guy or the company much anymore. It’s just ugly on that side.

That’s a great idea, and after thinking more on the fairness versus popularity issue, they could do the half hour presentation show for voting purposes, bring in maybe 10 top builders to start the voting and pre-judging (without giving their results), have the builders comment or whatever would add interest, and to keep anyone from relating and tainting their vote by a reference to a number system 1,2,3 or even letters like A, B, C which have a definite 1st to third feel that could influence who a person feels falls into the numbered or lettered system, they could use colors which have no value of first to third. I think since choppers are definitely associated with the good ol’ U.S of A, they could assign the colors red white and blue. Or if anyone thinks there’s a first to third feel about those colors, maybe you could suggest some other colors that have no particular sequence. Then people would vote on the assigned bike color and then the build shows would come later. Any thoughts?

I can’t believe that they have Paul Sr. In it. He can’t build bikes. His company can barely build cookie cutter bikes. Jesse is the ultimate bike builder. Let them build the bikes without their crews. I just feel like there is already a set up. Either way Paul Sr. Should just the doors on his shop. He ruined his own imagine. Jesse James rules. Who gives a shit about his women issues. He builds badass bikes.
No doubt Jesse will build the most bad ass bike, BUT, this is right in Paul JR’s wheelhouse, he will have “the home field advantage” because, as another astute poster pointed out, most who watch American Chopper wouldnt know a great bike or what a true chopper should be if one ran over their first born. Mark my words. Jr will win and it wont even be close. He is WAY more popular amongst those viewers than his dad. As a matter of fact Sr is so hated that Jesse will finish 2nd. There are many reasons why Jr is so popular, and NONE of those reasons have anything to do with any actual skill he has. NEITHER Jr nor Sr, could walk into a shop and fabricate sheet metal, or chop a frame, or do anything that actual craftsman can do, and it wont matter unfortunatley. I’ll do my part and pay a buck or whatever it is to vote for Jesse, but I doubt there are enough of us to make a real difference
In response to what motor Jr will be using, was there any doubt he was going to use that indian motor? He has a deal with them and has used them on the last few bikes hes done regardless of whether or not it goes with the bike or not. And if he has already had them do some special one off motor, that tells me right there that this isnt going to be any kind of deadline based crunch time build-off like the old build-off series,as they were obviously given enough time to order one off motors etc. I wish it wouldve been a 10 day build like the old ones. Of course if it was, Jr couldnt have had the time to go through his parts catalog and order stuff, or get brandon his sheet metal guy flown in in time. Jesse is a true builder, those other 2 are glorified assemblers, the only one on American Chopper that I have ANY respect for is Rick Petko. Hes the only one in either of those shops with any true skills
Just read Bluesmaster’s idea about it being a “blind” vote. I think that would be the fairest way you could do it. Great idea to have 5 or 10 top builders come in and comment on the bikes before voting begins as well. Of course we all know, this wont happen because Discovery has to protect their cash cow, the American Chopper series. Actually the fairest way to do it imo would be to do it how it used to be done. I agree that’s the best way to judge these bikes (a bike rally / event), as true bikers will know what’s cookie cutter versus what someone built with sweat, muscle, and craftsmanship, without a C&C doing everything for you and catalog ordered parts to assemble. I agree there shouldn’t be a bunch of couch potato drama TV loving voters deciding about something they don’t know a thing about. Yep, that’s the best idea so far, but like ya said, Discovery has to protect their cash cow and market to the masses.

Come on people…wake up and actually WATCH the shows!! Jesse James does a lot by hand, by sheer talent and his desin ability, but his “people” actually do a lot for him as well with West Coast Choppers. He does not make every inch of a bike as far as design and fabrication…..machines and other people do it as well! Paul senior and OCC do a lot with CADD and other software programs, as well as pre fabrication frames, etc. Sr. really does nothing any more.
Paul Jr. and PJD do most of theirs by what is in Jr.’s head. They have a talented team of builders that all put their heads together and come up with a product. They do use new machinery to help them, but why not? It gets it done faster, easier and cheaper in the long run, which means more profitability.
Jesse James is a loudmouth fame junkie that just wants the camera on him. I am surprised that after his very public “screw-ups” they let him back on this type of show. Iit will be interesting to see what they come up with. If anyone was watching the Cadillac Bike build off that Jr. and Sr. had – he SMOKED his father by a margin of 4 to 1 in the voting and that bike brought almost $250,000.00 when it was sold to aid in Cure Duchenne’s!! What has Jesse done to aid in anything but HIMSELF? The guy is a genius, very, very talented, probably more talented than both SR. and JR, but will lose because he is in it for HIM!

Look – the plain and simple fact is they build bikes for entirely different people. Jr and Sr make bikes for corporations, and as promotional tool which Jr does very successfully – integrating the companies themes, logo and styling cues, Sr not so much. And they do stuff for the fans, merch, etc..
Jesse makes bikes for the real deal, ride em hard all day long, and yes he can build it from the ground up.
Both sides – Jr and Jesse have talent – and different fans as well as market, pure and simple. Sr, assembles what he likes and the hell with everything else, that is why his theme bikes are no where near what Jr does.

I think the three of them should get together, and get three of the best biker build off winners to have a crew and do a build off. Jesse doesn’t seem to give occ any credit, but I’m sure he has some respect for them. After all, it’s BIKES that’s what brings people of all walks of life together because they love bikes and riding. I KNOW they could get along and put their minds together and make some cool stuff. And, …my opinion only I think Rick would love to work with Jesse and get some tips…Rick does alot of forming on the english wheel, the other hammers and such, but Jesse could difinatly give him some tips. I just watched a metal church video of jesse making a tank. he went through so much time and effort to make a tank that almost looked just like the one he took the measurements off of, he couls have just used the peanut thank setting there on the table, but…it wasn’t hand made by him. Most people wouldn’t notice but Jesse knows, he built the tank by hand after many hours and even going back to his mento for help. No One Is Perfect!

being a professor who teaches design in architecture, I am very happy to see Jesse challenge the other two teams to a build off. Unfortunately, there are far too many americans who have somehow fallen into the ‘Disney World” trap where everything needs to develop from some fantasy and look like something else. THAT isn’t creativity of design!!! it’s nothing but CRAP!!!!!!
Instead of depending on some other well designed object, building, etc and just adding parts in some theoretically “creative” way is teaching more and more people that actual design doesn’t matter. This in the end, is hurting the complete design industry and those clients who request such ignorant requests to design a themed anything, SHAME ON YOU!!!!

Lets be real. Jesse James is the king of previous level motorcycle designs and building. If you want something sleek and mean and from the early 2000s, jesse is the man. Unfortunately, since the way people turn into legends and get idolized in what they do, is go next level!! PJD is NEXT LEVEL in everything they do, so unless jesse comes with some amazing customization, or he stands no chance. From what im currently seeing, he will come in 2nd, simply because OCC is producing an oversized legoland toy my nephew has. OCC creation looks like Tron on steriods,, with tatoos! Horrible!! I am a (starving) home builder from the jersey shore and i do not advertise. I get work from word of mouth only. I see really bad work done by other builders everyday. I get calls from homeowners who want additions and they do not use the builder who built their house. I go in the home and told who did the work and I NEVER EVER say a negative thing about them. Unless it is a safety hazard. I judge other peoples work and keep it to my self. I may never say anything positive about them either. I do compliment my competitors who do good work but I never disrespect anyone in my business. Karma is a crazy thing. I notice that some people on Jesse’s team are actually jealous. They don’t like the Tutles because they are successful. It does not matter if you approve how they do what they do. I like the show and I realize that I could never afford a bike like that. i am a big WWII warplane fan. I love the P-51. but I saw an F-4U corsair (model) in the background in one shot. Being a former Marine myself I may seem a bit partial to any plane that is strong enough to land on a carrier. But the P-51 is more recognizable. I still wish Jr had used the corsair for the bike but if not then “the Cadillac of the Sky” is a good choice. Go Jr. Is Sr’s thing a bike or is it a jeep??

From what I’ve seen there are only two bike builders, JJ & Jr. The dispicable Sr. must have thought they said it’s a snowmobile build off. Sr. did nothing on his creation he had Jason design it on the computer and his employees build it. I wished one of them would have had the balls to tell the old man this build was nfg. As a bike builder Sr. is nothing just as a father he is nothing. JJ’s build was a bit disappointing with the same old same old and unless you have arms like a monkey it’ll be a hard ride for any distance. Jr’s bike is a work of art but to me, not a practical ride. I wish Jr. would get away from the theme builds and build a practical chopper which we know he can do. The Detroit Brothers and guys like them are true bike builders and I really miss those types of builders being on the discovery channel.
To all that keep flapping their gums and saying that Jr. is a cake decorator you don’t have a clue what your talking about. Yes they make theme bikes but that is what they are paid to do but when it comes down to it Jr. can build a bike as good as anyone. I won’t take anything from Jesse James he is a awesome bike builder and fabricator and he may be a better fabricator than Jr. but that is not what Jr. does he is an artist with a team of guys that help him make his ideas come to life. If you watch the show at all you will see that Jr. and his team make their bikes from scratch, yes they may use the Flow machine but they still make their tanks, fenders and sometiimes their frames from scratch. OCC on the other they are the cake decoraters and the machine they are building for this thing though would be fun to drive is not even close to custom chopper, they had the frame made else where, the tracks bought off of a shelf and so what did they do. Their are some talented guys on OCC (Rick, Mike) but their bikes are boring. I am voting for Jr. , Jesse’s bike looks good but it looks like all the other bikes he builds and he was saying how he makes his bikes to ride, he can barely reach the handle bars and to an extent I know that is what he was going for but come one that isn’t comfortable. OCC didn’t even build what they are entering into the contest. Nor is it a bike. One companies of the chassis. Another company built the tracks. Third company came in and installed all of the electrical to make the tracks work. Fourth company built the flame throwers OCC bolted on. Finally another company built the fiberglass housing that covers up everybody else work. Then Sr.did his part of the bild which is driving the bike.
Its sad to see 2 hasbens trying to show they still have it. but my vote goes to paul jr. he isnt stuck in the. past, just looking to the futcher .

Paul sr isnt trying to win. Paul jr didnt do a Practical bike, i would ride that bike if it was the last bike alive. Jessie james bike is my choice. I wanted to see a bike that i would ride and be Proud of.

Don’t really like the PJD bike, but it is by far the most creative bike to come from this build off.
The only thing I learned from watching this show was that JJ has some inflated sense of self importance, and I do not know why. I wouldn’t be able to tell that bike apart from 100 others I’ve seen at any other bike show. I wouldn’t have expected much, but he talked so much smack I thought he was going to really do something; fail.
Just wondering if anyone else is seeing the total rip-off of Roger Goldammers design by Junior on this build? Take a look at Goldammers BTR3 and Trouble bikes built 6 and 7 years ago. Junior took the design and added a circus-like smoke show. Jesse gets the nod……..he built a chopper.

Jesse is the only ” real ” builder , and a true hands on craftsman . Yeah , there is drama in his past , but the contest is the best builder , which is Jesse . PERIOD . You can ride Jesse’s bikes hard and fast , the OCC waterjets are not practical or rideable , nor would a real biker be caught riding a yuppie softtail .
Now for the PJD bike , I like the design and the look however it is just a show bike , not practical and he missed a few key details . Aircraft pedals , control stick , tank mounted 50.cal , and the icing for the cake.

Well after watching the first half, i really think that it is one big setup, not sure for what, but lets look at it like this. aside from the way JJ is acting, his bikes speak for themselves, as for JR and SR i can remember when they had an occ in house build off where jr and sr chose members of the occ team and built two bikes to raise money, the one jr built was not a theme bike but it was a great looking bike, and when sr and cody built their old school chopper, looked awesome, it was simple but great, or jr’s anti venom bike, awesome, or sr pow bike, come on discovery channel lets have a build off that isn’t scripted, look at what your doing, JJ typical oldschool chopper, jr another theme bike, and what are you having sr or should i say OCC building,
What the HEL!!! Did anyone watch the show last nite??? The show is BIKEer build off, and if i remember correctly – the show was about builders goin’ against each other AFTER a five hundred mile { give or take } ONLY then it was voted on by the fans. Sr.- WTF is that thing ??? frame- subbed out, trax {again i say WTF??!!} sub, motor sub. and on and on. Sr U never even touched it!! Rick – excellent fabricater, but i bet even u were ashamed of beig a part of it. Jr’s trailer queen sans smoke woudnt b bad- but again frame , suspension subbed. with that said, its not a build off bike. jj did exactly what he said he was goin 2 do – build a bad ass bike- by the way- frisco’s ARE timeless. Of the three builders jj did was only one who got his hands dirty, built a frame, etc etct. It IS the only buld off bike by proxy.

They messed up the cadillac build, they should have said, hey rick how about this time you design the bike. Since they have nothing to loose, rick is pretty popular, it would have pulled in votes. Bunch of morons.
You gotta give Senior some credit for trying out something other than what they have in their production. That being said a bike build off is not the right place to enter that vehicle. You can see how uncomfortable senior is riding that, he should have ridden that thing in a sitting position, would have looked cool, then again it would look like the gow-3 trike.
Jesse’s so adamant that he doesn’t do “theme” bikes that it came out boring and lacking in the fabrication department. It was funny when they shot him riding it and he always had to look at the side cause hes made the seat so low and his handle bars so high. Some people pointed out that his’ bike was the only ride-able bike among the 3 but seeing as to how he rode it begs me to differ.
PJD is a design company by nature so having no “theme” would be hard for them. So they had to have a it and the aviation theme was used. I think I saw an old episode of occ where they used rivettings on their build so that wasn’t totally original (1st time i saw the pics i went ugh, those again?) I was a bit disappointed at 1st. Then saw it in action, the exhaust on the gas tank and how it smoked like a real plane, the wheels like in the plane, the color combinations (chrome to copper?) it grew in to me. It was the best among the 3 but certainly not PJD’s best.
Overall PJD wins, Senior whines and Jesse is cursing and is giving us the finger for voting PJD.
Jason poole shuold have is a#$ kick for that design and some of his pass designs OCC get smart and give Rick more input on designs. For a bike build off he was way off. Poole should just stick to the ass kissing he’s better at it.
The contest rules should have stated you had to ride the bikes to the contest to be valid, other wise they should have had some yahoo carve a bike out of brazilian walnut and entered. It would have looked cool but worthless as sh**.

Ok, I just watched the build-off show. Paul Jr. is still a class act. He refers to his competition as “people” and puts no one down, whereas JJ refers to the Teutels collectively as jokers and even worse ‘bleeped’ names. still acting like a 12 year old… Paul Sr. doesn’t deserve any relationship with a son who he obviously enjoyed blowing up in effigy (and maybe subconsciously blowing up Mikey at the same time since they chose his old car to blow up?). Sr. has apparently completely lost it and doesn’t even deserve acknowledgement from Paul Jr. or Mikey that he even exists at this point IMO. If I were Paul Jr. I’d seriously consider legally changing my name. Too bad he’s already got a name brand.

Well Sr. built a snowmachine, they should not let Jason design bikes, he really has no talent and knowledge of bikes. Jessie built a chopper like the multitude that are on the streets everyday in America, no imagination or creativity, it really looked like an old chopper. Jr. actually put thought into the theme and built a classy tribute bike. Jr deserved to win.
I’m reading comments about how occ and pjd are assemblers and not fabricaters, so I must have missed something when whatching those guys building gas tanks, fenders and seat pans. They don’t build frames although I guess now days occ does, but all else aside, they fill a niche and make a nice living building to the buiness community for advertising purposes. Sounds to me like JJ is a little Jealous of their noteriety. I must say that betweent the three, if the contest were to see who could be the most ignorant sounding arrogant, poor excuse for a human being, then Jesse would certainly win hands down.

Dude it’s just dumb to build your own frame when it’s available in the market. It cost time and energy and that’s just not good business. I saw some build off and guys like billy lane buys frames and just modifies them. In the end it’s not how you get there that counts, it’s the end product. I’m a rider for 25 years and I would not ride Jesse james bike for 10 miles, it’s just stupidly built.
Such a big deal with this building the bike from the frame up, ANYONE can build a frame, why do you think it can be ordered? It’s the “chopping” or the design and creative concept that’s important.
