It makes sense that Galveston Island, Texas serves as home to the epic Lone Star Rally event that attracts hundreds of thousands of motorcycling visitors. The biker spirit as seafarers of the open road is certainly kin to the early settlers and explorers who have also called Galveston home. From November 3rd – 6th the Island becomes Mecca for bikers from around the country to gather. The Lone Star Rally is like no other rally event and it offers everything that a major week long rally does, all in four days. And now it has become the largest weekend rally in the country.
Pier 21 roars with The Rock N Ride concert starring Marshall Tucker and Fuel on Friday night and Saturday night Buck Cherry and the Fabulous Thunderbirds smoke the stage. “It’s amazing that in ten years, our weekend rally is near the size of the major week long rallies around the country. We’ve really evolved into an event that people look forward to all year long. It’s exciting that this beautiful city embraces all of us because we truly embrace Galveston. The manufacturers and vendors also love coming here and interacting with the customers in such a welcoming environment,” said Melissa Penland, co-owner of the rally. “Galveston, Texas, is home to The Lone Star Rally for sure.”
The Lone Star Rally is free admission except for the pier concert series. Purchase tickets for the Pier 21 concerts at the rally website and for more information and to register for events visit Lone Star Rally. (all pictures copyright Michael Lichter)
