Black Drive

Powder coating is winning against chrome plating. Seems that everybody is loving black parts, and they are much more riders friendly than chrome ones. So, Rivera Primo Inc.®, like so many other vendors, now offers its popular Brute IV Extreme™ Open Belt Drives in Matte Black powder coat finish.

They went with powder coating due to its extreme ability to withstand severe usage and weather versus anodizing which typically fades to a non-descript color when exposed to elements like sun, salt, etc…

The Brute IV Extreme 2007 for 2006 Dyna® models and 2007 later Softail® & Dyna® models is part # 2016-0157 & 2016-0158  for 240 rear tire models. The Brute IV Extreme 2007 Touring™ 2” drive in black for all 2007 later touring models is part # 2016-0127 and for 1990-2006 touring models the part # in black is 2016-0125. The 2016-0107 Brute IV Extreme™ fits 1990-2006 Softail® models. All these Open Belt Drives include the motorplate kit with billet outer guard, rear pulley assy. with Pro Clutch™ and 66 tooth ring gear, front pulley and Primo 2 or 3″ drive belt as well as all necessary hardware for a successful bolt-on installation. It’s easier to powder coat in black than to create new products. I know, times are tough. but we would like to see new products from Rivera, BDL, etc

M/C chrome ….. only existed because so many parts were returned to the manufacturer, and chrome was the only coating able to survive multiple cross-country UPS trips, to and from the warehouse bins.

It took us 40 yrs. to eliminate chrome within the repop world. Good riddance, imo.

Any hot-tips for touching up any powder coat (bare metal) nicks?

    Colored-match epoxy glue/filler?

We use Electroless Nickel exclusively now to protect our DIMPLE® Super Magnetic Oil Plugs.
We wanted the drain plug finish to last nearly as long as our Magnets…….which is quite a long time.

I like to see other companies try something new. How else will you effect better products in the long run, Yeah for MADE IN THE USA.

    Chrome Won’t Get You Home…

I like the move to black and chrome. Nice contrast, easy to clean and a little bad ass. The problem with black is that it has variations in color depending on who does it and how. So if you want all the parts to look like they belong there, they should all come from the same manufacturer.

    Hi All!
Yep, you’re all right, adding black to a product is not neccesarily innovation. However, the aftermarket tries to give you guys and gals what you want, and guess apparently is black right now. But new prodducts are what we and the rest of the aftermarket live for and we (RIvera Primo) have plenty in the pipe. You’ll see them at any show you happen to attend next year or just check out our website after Jan1st. One note however, we did start out doing our black matte finish in powdercoat because we couldn’t find a anodizing process at the time that didn’t turn some shade of purple after a while in the sun. Well, we finally happened on the magic process that does not turn colors other then black and it is a different kind of anodizing. So future belt dive products done in matte black wil be anodized! Thanks for commenting and for your interest in our company which is also home to Genuine Primo Belt Drives.
