Super Rat Motorcycles

Most of you never heard about the Bjorklund brothers (Mark & Carl) and of their Surper Rat Motorcycles built in Bellingham, WA. By traditional custom motorcycle standards, their work can be considered “heretical” Contraptions following no rules, with metal structures shaped to express the raw nature of a motorcycle. Their creations wear names that only them can fully explain, like “War Crimes””Labor Of Hate”, “Disheveled” and “Egg Salad” (center picture), a bike that they took to Bonneville in 2011, reaching a speed of 113 mph. It is powered by a 500cc Rotax motor mounted in a Knight Flat Track frame. After the jump, see a short video of “Egg Salad” racing in Bonneville.

The video is too slow at the beginning, but still cool.

Mark and Carl are a couple of really cool cats. They spent a lot of their free time visiting with the students I brought out to Bonneville this year for the Landspeed trials by BUB. Taking the time to share engineering and design ideas and fundamentals of landspeed racing with a group of young minds eager to learn even thought they were battling the clock and the weather for a shot at breaking a world record or two. They build some really crazy bikes that go fast and have some awesome style. Thanks fellas……you guys are world class. Hope to see you again next year.

Appears to be some excellent engineering under the sheetmetal, kinda liked it!

Carl and Mark are some good guys their work is excellent and innovative. Currently their Ducati that was built for Bonneville last year is up for sale on Ebay if anyone is interested. This bike broke a record in the 1000 A-AG class that had stood since 1975 setting the new record at 165mph.

I kinda dig the Sporty powered cafe bike. Their style may not be for everyone, but it’s good that they are following their own path.
