A lot of those into the vintage chopper scene love to use a Sportster gas tank (even if not installed on genuine Sportster) that most of the time they narrow and mount Frisco style, high on the frame backbone.
It cost time and/or some coin to professionally modify a stock Sporty gas tank to cut it, narrow it, re-weld it, modify the mounts, etc.
The one featured is a new off the shelf product from Throttle Addiction that makes a narrow sporty tank accessible to anyone at a working man’s price.
It has been narrowed 1″ with 3 big advantages: a single stamped top ( (no sand marks down the top from splitting and rewelding a stock tank), a true Frisco flat bottom also a relocated petcock bung to maximize fuel usage.
The narrow Frisco Sporty Tank is stamped form 14 gauge steel, is TIG welded and features a cam style filler bung and cap. The single petcock bung location is on the left side and takes a 1/4″ NPT petcock. The tank measures 8″ wide, 15″ long and 7″ tall. It has a max capacity of 2.1 gal. Priced at $189 and including a gas cap. Other gas tanks and fenders also available. Offered by Throttle Addiction. Call Zach on my behalf at 480-442-1821.
