Garage Custom Culture

bixentemotoDouglas Guillot is a French movie Director whose work has been featured a couple of times in my website {“Wheels & Waves” And “South Siders”) He sent me his most recent short film about a small shop in southwest France (Biarritz) named Bixente Moto. His objective: to translate in images and sound the authentic atmosphere of a garage where 2 passionate guys collect old motorcycle stuff and transform neglected motorcycles into fun bikes to ride to nowhere in particular. Garage custom culture is universal…(sub titled in English)

Really good clip that shows the joy of it all.

Hard to not appreciate what these guys, both builders and film guys are doing. Both are very good at it.

Not to mention that “culture” was/is the foundation of every thing that today’s self proclaimed “bikers” take for granted.

Moreover, it will persist long after the contemporary fad is abandon for the next cause celeb.

It’s like a whirlwind went through Deus Ex Machina in Australia, continued on to Yokohama and ended up throwing down some bikes in France. The French guys then jumped on them, looked in the mirror and went on a ride around in circles.

40 or 50 years ago we rode for fun and to be honest , to be a bit rebellious , now it is a whole lot of posturing , with the wannabes with neck tattoos , and the old guys (old like me) who want to show their buddies ” I can have a bagger with more crap on it than you can!)
