An electric Harley?
Yep. Heard an electric bike. Whatever think the graying boomers, it would be a huge event and a very smart move by Harley. All manufacturers are going to do it. So, why not be the 1st.
Last year, Indian was the big event. This year it may be Harley.
The internet from one end to the other is abuzz that it’ll be an E/V . Which … would truly be an economic disaster if the rumors prove to be true . Here’s hoping its all just a bunch of vaporware rumor mongering and that there is something more logical and sensible that will be announced … seeing as how E/V’s of all kinds have absolutely no long term future what so ever … according to the likes of BMW , Mercedes VW-Audi , Toyota etc etc etc
@TJ – BMW & Toyota? They have significant investment & execution in EV/hybrid tech.
will it leak voltage in my driveway?
It’s an electric bike saw leaked pictures on Facebook this morning – good looking bike
Hopefully they are bringing back the FXR
EV Harley? Boomers are shitting in their pants.
Cyril asked “what did you hear?” He must have the pics.
Hello, Someone wanted a FXR, if I build them would you buy them
With my charging system going out yet again, I feel like an electric Harley. I have to plug in the battery charger every night and charge up the tractor battery I have bungie corded onto my rear passenger saddlebag.
In terms of marketing, boomers are already “dead”. Time for the next chapter. Cheap bikes for youngsters. Small bikes for women. Electric bikes to pre-empt the EV market.
electric bike… leaked this morning (the news, not acid)
Bet that Polaris will unveil an EV bike…next year. Better do it with Victory than Indian!
Electrifying news.
The Streets [which I predict will sink like a lead balloon] and a big investment in EVs could finish HD’s #1 slot.
Well, if it’s an EV and carries the performance attributes of one of my client’s Tesla, I’d love the opportunity to ride it. Better than average braking and MUCH better acceleration could potentially get a rider out of a nasty situation much easier than what is currently being offered in the American cruiser market.
A 2015 Road Glide with an electric windshield.
Livewire.
If it’s an EV and looks like a Harley, it will sell. But price?
It’s from the Livewire project…electric motorcycle.
Glad Harley will be the first!
Not really surprised. Thought that Harley would come with an electric model in the next 3 years. It may be only a pre-production EV model. What about training of all the dealers? All manufacturers have to transit to EV. They have 5 to 10 years or will not survive.
Sold without a cord. Screaming Eagle cord sold separately for $339.
Of course it’s an electric motorcycle
The end of the bandana and of the chaps with fringes. Great.
Polaris freaking out?
As for a model name, ElectraGlide would be the logical choice, but, um, that’s taken… lol.
BattGlide
Voltster
Plugster
DynaMoGlide
DynaTronic
hmmm…
FLHEV, Electric Glide or XLEV Sparkster?
I think it would be safe to name it the “Failure”.
Nobody wants an electric bike, really. They’ve been around for 40 years, even more so in the last 10, and I don’t know anybody that has one or wants one.
Road glide has a new flow thru fairing…better aerodynamics and cooling for the rider..all good…
Electric naked sport….$24,000.00
My heart wants it to be a turbine powered Rushmore Road Glide. But my head tells me it’s an urban electric bike.
Debbie, Debbie, Debbie….
Polaris has been into electric vehicles, including motorcycles for quite some time.
Diesel………..
check out, photos were taken of it during production of Avengers the movie. Cant wait to ride one in the near future. With this timing possibly will be in Sturgis this year. I know about it but really cant say much just whats already out there.
Another recall? A fix for the crappy designed auto tensioner that won’t eat bearings at an alarming rate? Ohhhh maybe another NEW “Sportster”? Maybe since the bikes have become so expensive they now come with there own butler service? An apology for the failed cam tensioners ? Maybe bigger run out tolerances for the 04-06 cranks? They wish to remove the 2007 model year from the record and sorry for all the heat issues that year. Or could it just be that the CEO’s now officially whine louder then the 6-speed trans. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
I despise Vacuum cleaners, hair dryers,Sewing machines and electric cars.
I will be so pissed off if they build an electric bike.
It would like finding out Jake Lamotta was in the Village people……..
And Colin Meads was gay….
HD Livewire. But I think you allready have pictures on data. 74 hp and so on.
i’m sure Indian will introduce a model with 1kw higher rating so they can claim to be the king
And in 7 weeks Indian does their Big Reveal
Let the HD / Indian war resume!
Mon dieu, quelle horreur!
I remember the first digital watch I saw in 72. couple grand for it . now they sell them for a dollar at the dollar store. maybe 40 years from now these electric bikes will be accepted also!
Debbie, roscoe is right: October 26, 2011 – Polaris Industries Inc. has announced a minority investment in Brammo, an Ashland, Oregon based maker of electric vehicle technology and two-wheel electric vehicles. By investing in Brammo, Polaris obtains access to their proprietary electric vehicle powertrain technology, as well as exposure to the rapidly growing electric motorcycle market.
Just a response to The Engineer, because I can’t pass up an opportunity to instigate another FXR run – I would sell my Dyna tomorrow to go buy a new factory FXR. 103 TC, 6-speed, inverted forks, original FXR frame dimensions (or similar), priced the same as a Dyna…. I’m in!
I hope it is a Eric Buell motorcycle.
Well now, that we all saw the Electric Bike, when do you think they will start Building them. Heard they built 25 so they can start the Tour? Is it possible that they could do the Tour and see the response that they get as “Negative” and actually Scrap the whole Project. As I see it a Major Manufacturer needs to Make and Build and sell at least 25,000 a Year. I don’t see that many Bikes being sold year after year. If it does make it HD will have to make a Pre recorded Vvrrrooomm, like my HD Wall Clock does on the Hour!
cool looking , but only 53 miles on a charge not cool . Keep trying ….
