Keanu Reeves And Gard Hollinger Unveil The Custom Production KRGT-1. Now Taking Reservations.

arch1arch2arch3arch4On october 3, 2012 I reported on actor Keanu Reeves and Custom Builder Gard Hollinger partnering to create the Arch Motorcycle Company . “We started with the idea of a performance-based modern machine. Once the prototype bike was complete, it looked like a production motorcycle but unlike anything we had ever seen” said Gard at that time.

arch21bisToday, Hollinger and Reeves are proud to introduce the custom-production KRGT-1, ARCH Motorcycle Company’s versatile, performance-oriented, American V-twin with good balance of performance and design. Manufactured exclusively in ARCH’s Los Angeles area factory, the KRGT-1 will be built to order with an initial offering price of $78,000. Production will be limited, making ownership a coveted experience for some custom motorcycle lovers.

GgalleryA13arch5arch6Its streamlined retro-modern styling brings the contours of the past into the present. The bike showcases over 200 parts created at the Arch production facility, each bike requiring 300-plus machine-hours using state-of-the-art CNC and water-jet machinery.  Dozens of other proprietary parts are supplied by premium vendor/partners who share the same demanding standards. The Arch Motorcycle Website has been updated with additional information including photos, videos and specifications.  The current delivery schedule is approximately 90 days from receipt of deposit.  For sales inquiries email sales@archmotorcycle.com or call 310- 675-2724 ext. #1.

Added Sept 15, 7.50 p.m. ET. I am informed by Arch Motorcycles that they made a mistake in the info they provided to me. The actual range for a tank of gas is 185-200 miles.

It’s nice, but not $78,000 nice. Not even close. If I wanted to waste that much money on a motorcycle, I would just go buy a Confederate for $10,000 less, and which has some really unique bits.

  2. 2 Sharkey Sep 13th, 2014 at 9:50 am

Couldn’t build anything like that for that price…538 dry and 120ft lbs would be fun; looks like a fairly comfortable stature, too… The styling of the Confederates is just a bit far out for my tastes; this is nice

  3. 3 Tom Ryan Sep 13th, 2014 at 11:19 am

This is a pretty nice looking bike overall. However, I feel that the bottom of the gas tank should have a little more curve to it.

  4. 4 Rodent Sep 13th, 2014 at 11:53 am

    78 large, no!

  5. 5 Avgjoe Sep 13th, 2014 at 12:04 pm

They should have a set of mid controls in my opinion.. looks fun to ride

  6. 6 Dave Blevins Sep 13th, 2014 at 1:10 pm

    A pretty good looking machine.

  7. 7 Charles Greenwood Sep 13th, 2014 at 1:10 pm

It looks nice, but the big mistake is to have machined so many parts. This bike could be done with existing parts from different vendors, and the final price would be less than half. I bet that only a couple will be sold to some of Keanu’s Hollywood friends.

  8. 8 J Sep 13th, 2014 at 3:21 pm

    Where’s my bike, dude?

Sharp bike, tho- what Confederate should have done before they lost their way……..

  9. 9 nicker Sep 13th, 2014 at 3:27 pm

The first pic made it look way cool.
Loved the English flavored gas tank.

But then ya look at the dude sitting on it with his feet out in the air……. 🙁

    RE:
    “… the idea of a performance-based modern machine …”

In no way is that “performance-based.”

Even if the only goal was a simple drag racer.
Getting a good launch would be almost impossible.
Looks more like the designer had no real “goal in mid” except to knock out a scooter.

    Only other question is… What’s a “Keanu Reeves”……….. ???

If you want a performance V-twin, buy a Buell for less than 1/4 the price, and get some trick engineering instead of an off the shelf engine and a lot of pretty machined billet.

Another toy for the one tenth of one percent who can afford such ridiculously expensive toys. Very few of these things will actually be ridden…

  11. 11 Cowboy Sep 13th, 2014 at 5:24 pm

That short scooped seat looks like a testicle crusher.

  12. 12 Zenaldo Sep 13th, 2014 at 6:32 pm

    Looks like a sport bike of sorts with a S&S 124 with a Baker trans…hhmmm..sounds very familiar…yes ?

  13. 13 Bleeding Ears Sep 13th, 2014 at 8:26 pm

Keanu and Gard are dreaming the impossible dream. As everyone who has ever dreamed it, including H. Mathew Chambers has found when they woke up to the harsh light of financial day is that there is no market for a $78,000 “limited production” motorcycle.

  14. 14 Sid Sep 14th, 2014 at 1:17 am

This bike doesn’t know what it wants to be. That might be just want a buyer wants, though.

  15. 15 James just another crazy Kiwi Sep 14th, 2014 at 2:09 am

Would like to get a riders report. At 78k it would need to go and handle extremely well.
If you want the Café styled bike, go to the new Norton’s. Maybe not as exclusive or putting out the same number of ponies but glorious to look at and apparently handles very well.
Still you have to admire Mr Reeves for doing this. Suppose he is trying to out do Mr Pitt’s Confederate. ( Silly Joke) Who knows ??? but it certainly all adds to the fabric of MotorCycling

  16. 16 Sheridan Sep 14th, 2014 at 7:02 am

Refreshing design, I really dig it and it looks like great fun to ride.

  17. 17 Mr Dick Sep 14th, 2014 at 8:00 am

78 grand, hmm, Hellcat Challenger, Vette, Diesel 4×4, 4 Hogs, nice house, or this thing??? I just don’t get it. Now taking “reservations”, I think they’re taking something else!

  18. 18 Kurt Sep 14th, 2014 at 8:22 am

Very nice looking but will not sell at this price. Big marketing mistake from these 2 guys. Gard Hollinger should know better, but probably got blinded, too excited at the idea of building a big dollars bike financed by K. reeves.

  19. 19 BobS Sep 14th, 2014 at 8:41 am

I’m diggin the concept, blending Cafe and cruiser but just not this design. The frame looks funny and the bodywork just does not have that “flow” that good design has. I really like the idea but I would not buy this bike at any price.

  20. 20 SoCalPhun Sep 14th, 2014 at 9:53 am

I can’t afford it, but I’m a fan. I got a few buddies who works in Hollywood….they all say Mr Reeves is known as a real true class act guy, on and off the set.

I do wonder how ambitious some of the numbers are….

According to the specs, it’s light, it’s got power and still delivers near 60 MPG. If it’s true….I’m impressed.

  21. 21 Iron Horse Sep 14th, 2014 at 11:23 am

Good looking scooter, but WAY out of my price range.

Agree with SoCalPhun, that the 57-60mpg estimate may be just a bit ambitious, but they can sing their song any way they want.

  22. 22 nicker Sep 14th, 2014 at 12:31 pm

    RE:
“… the concept, blending Cafe and cruiser . ..”

    Like “blending” a Cat & a Dog.
    What’s the point……???

    Looks great good luck….

  24. 24 Zipper Sep 15th, 2014 at 7:16 am

Not a bad looking machine with some very nice components. To bad HD doesn’t build something along those lines. $78 G’S ? I can think of a FEW other quality bikes I would rather have in my garage. ..Z

  25. 25 TPJ Customs Sep 15th, 2014 at 8:35 am

Once again you guys have proved why I don’t read or look at or promote this site. Cyril tries to get you guys something new to look at and you all bash what you don’t understand. Yes you could buy parts off shelf instead of makeing them. But how lame is that. Or ya go buy a cheaper bike enjoy. Hats off to individuals that stretch the boundaries. The cost is not for everyone so is the cost of a Lamborghini so don’t buy it. Great job guys at arch. Takes a huge commitment and talent to put together something like this.

  26. 26 BobS Sep 15th, 2014 at 9:00 am

RE “Like “blending” a Cat and Dog…” No, it’s not anything at all like blending a cat and dog. It is however taking a style and incorporating a more comfortable riding position into it.

  27. 27 Kroeter Sep 15th, 2014 at 9:02 am

Of course 78 G’s doesn’t make sense to us common Joes. But since they aren’t mass produced and Reeves is putting his name to it, it’s like buying a piece of art. I think it’s cool famous celebs are putting their money behind bike production, hope it works out for Arch.

  28. 28 HD Rider Sep 15th, 2014 at 9:14 am

Looks like about 5 pieces welded together to get from the head to the muffler. I’d expect a single piece of seamless tubing for that price, or at least some shields to cover up the mess.

  29. 29 Paul Sep 15th, 2014 at 9:19 am

Well put TPJ. These dudes are simple fence sitters that wait for the next post to bitch and moan and outdo their contemporaries bitches and moans. Maybe if you guys would read and learn a little, you would better appreciate what Cyril puts out here for us. I’m sure after you leave your mark on this page you head right to the Ferrari and Bentley forums and spout off about how stupid they are. Of course very few of us can afford one of these. But that is a very well built bike. There are many innovative functions, parts, and pieces of this bike. The people behind the bike are great people and great craftsman.

Didn’t your mommies tell you not to say anything if you can’t say anything nice?

  30. 30 Clark Kirkendall Sep 15th, 2014 at 11:47 am

The fuel mileage range is off by 100 miles. There is no way a 124″ S&S twin cam is going to get 60 MPG. Maybe the phoney/BS range appeals to environmentalists and Hollywood types, but real bikers know that even a stock 883 won’t get 60 MPG. Just sayin. The bike looks OK, but forward controls are lame on this kind of bike. Price is outrageous. What took 2 years to come up with this?

  31. 31 Ted Sands Sep 15th, 2014 at 12:12 pm

Gard is a good builder and designer, I like the bike it has very clean lines. With Keanu Reeves help maybe they can sell it to some actors who have money to burn. Another new high end custom to keep and eye on is the soon to be released Brough Superior out of France.

  32. 32 Yes Fan Sep 15th, 2014 at 1:26 pm

$78,000 for this bike. People moaned when the Stalican-owned Indian put out a Cheif for $32,000 why should this be any different…I don’t get why anyone whould pay that much just to get a bike that has a block-head Pushrod V-Twin in the cradle. If the enginering met the promise of the hype – you might have me saying “hmmmm”…but I just don’t see it here. Sure It’s pretty but not $78,000 pretty. Look, come up with a revolutionaly suspension or a brand new power train that isn’t sitting in thousands and thousands of bikes already then hit the hype trail – till then…ehhhh.

  33. 33 Blackmax Sep 15th, 2014 at 4:00 pm

First Confederate, then this, the Keanu Reeves bike.
How many high end race bikes can you make
Is the “aftermarket chopper” market coming back
Anyway, the style is not for me & I can’t afford one anyway
but again, as always if you got the bucks & you like it
Go Ahead & Buy it !!! Let the market decide like it always will

  34. 34 TONY DAVIDSON Sep 15th, 2014 at 8:12 pm

i rather put 111 indian motor or powerplus . s&s motor suck

  35. 35 nicker Sep 15th, 2014 at 11:27 pm

The issue isn’t ….. “How well its built.”
The issue is….. “Why was it built.”

    RE:
“… taking a style and incorporating a more comfortable riding position into it …”

    Feet-forward isn’t a “riding-position”……..
    Its a “driving-position”…….

The point is simply this, if the design intent is “performance,” IMHO they missed the boat.
No value judgement, just a fact.

    $78,000. is peanuts. I’ve ordered two. They’ll be worth 156,000. in two-years.

Charged them both on my MasterCard and we’re flying first class to D.C on Citi-Bank air-miles stemming from their purchase. That’s two adventures for the price of two.

  37. 37 James just another crazy Kiwi Sep 16th, 2014 at 1:03 am

1/ It is a cool bike, period.

2/ Man that pays 78k for a motorcycle is not going to give a Horses arse what the MPG is

3/ they say the range is 285- 300 miles which is far enough to get most people to the next preferred stop

4/ You can have mid controls, it is an option

5/ S&S motors do not suck they suck and go very well.

6/ How many people that read this site would not want to build their dream bike.

Some people forget what coloured pill to take in the morning

  38. 38 Badams Sep 16th, 2014 at 1:17 am

Considering a decade ago people would take equity lines of credit for a kit bike with hooks and barbs for the same price, which are either in the dump or mothballed, this is priced right for a hand built performance bike. Loads of quality fab, metal grades and carbon, it’s somewhat a progressive step on a proven style. Made in California, big lump and touches of super bike. I’m sure if you had to make some changes to make it yours it wouldn’t be a problem. Now, if there was a promo video of it being pushed to the edge, the naysayers would do a 180 and comments would be less picky and more pro-Arch.

If I had the cash I’d pick up. It’s Rad. Great work Gard-

  39. 39 Chaos Cycle Sep 16th, 2014 at 12:10 pm

looks like a very well engineered work of art. Paint and canvas will cost almost nothing but VISION and perspective can be very expensive. If you “don’t get it” your probably not its target audience anyway. I love it and would love to ring its neck down some twisties with the mid-control option or maybe stare at it for a few hours

  40. 40 Chris Sep 19th, 2014 at 12:46 pm

I want what Tony Davidson is smoking. A Powerplus 100? The engine that sucked so bad its rate of failure led in large part to the failure of the company? S&S sucks? Dude, puff-puff-pass!
