Just one month after Intermot in Cologne, Germany, yesterday Ducati introduced to its Italians fans at the Milano Eicma Motorcycle Exhibition (November 4th to 6th) the 4 new Scrambler models. Just a couple of shots to give you an idea of the way Ducati did the presentation of the 2015 line, with an acrobatic show of female dancers. Not something you will see here in the USA coming from any of our 3 American motorcycle brands.
Just a reminder (I introduced you to the new Scrambler one month ago), that the new models are a modern interpretation of the iconic model, in a style that Ducatoi calls “Post Heritage”, meaning very traditional 60’s lines, a simple engine (a tried-and-true SOHC V-twin displacing 803cc) and basic but modern accessories. 4 versions: Scrambler Icon ($8495), Urban Enduro ($9995), Scrambler Full Throttle ($9995), and Scrambler Classic ($9995) (Photography @ H. Roesler)
Because Americans are of the macho type, Europeans, especially Italian & French are of the fashionable type. A very different culture you can see in the bikes they build and ride.
The majority of American riders I see are over weight and have a thousand lb. Bike with an arm chair on the back and equally over weight passenger. Now that’s macho. ..Z
Zipper, yep, it’s the way most American macho bikers look when they are aging…Europeans age thinner, because they continue to chase young girls, I guess.
… but the sad reality over EU/UK way is that like soooo many other aspects of American culture /lifestyle .. those EuroBrits waistlines are rapidly catching up with ours big time [ pun absolutely intended ]
No … the reason US bikes are all so large is thats what the heritage was and what the current consumer still demands in the vain quest of an ‘ authentic ‘ nostalgia experience . Ours [ US ] as well as yours { UK/EU]
Speaking of demand though .. at an $8500 starting point I’m having a difficult time imagining any real demand coming from the Gen X’ers and younger generations on this bike . My guess being the majority of these will wind up in the hands of those like myself [ Boomer ] wanting a little extra fun with the Ducati name and legend attached .
RE:
“… US bikes are all so large ….. that’s what the heritage was …”
Well. sort-a….
Our heritage was lots of long bad, pot-holed dirt roads while the UK had more smooth paved roads.
US riders had to have more “beefy’ construction to keep from busting up their scooters.
But by the 50’s the US roads were way better and the light, agile Brit-bikes were the way to go.
They sure were more desirable for us kids. Its easy to see why. When i park my FL next to one of my Brit bikes its like looking at a Cheerleader standing next to her dumpy girlfriend.
I’ll take the cheerleader every time……… 🙂

Looks like someone melted the swing arm. And is the one on the right a girl or a boy or eeek both ?
Looks like a Buell
Duc’s are cool !!!
But not my cup of tea
but the people who have them
LOVE them & all of their foibles
Anyone who can’t tell the difference between boys and girls probably shouldn’t do a lot of dating.
My single bevel motors are my favorites second only to my panhead.I always thought it was a beautiful motor, and rock solid .I was kind of hoping ducati would have produced a new single thumper.KTM has a great one.my original scrambler is more in style now than ever ,custom street trackers are everywhere.its a shame that my old scrambler looks 10 times cooler than this new one.I had such high hopes for this and wow they let me down.Still looks like a blast to ride.
@BC, IMHO it’s sometimes better to ask for a second opinion as JKiwi did, then trust oneself to always be right. ☺ Obviously, the poor things didn’t have time to get dressed and put their faces on before the unveiling 😉
Ha Ha BC what does BS stand for let me think………………………………………………..
Saw one at the Rock Store this morning. As long as the aftermarket jumps in with some cheap ass made in china shit to bolt on it I can see the Hipsters and women wanting this bike.
