For The 1st Time Sturgis To Open City Park To Vendors During The 75th Rally. Sturgis city officials have announced there will be vendors and motorcycle shows and exhibitions in the Sturgis City Park during this year’s rally. It will include motorcycle stunt shows, freestyle motocross, motorcycle shows, family friendly music concerts, etc. The Sturgis City Council voted to enter into a lease agreement with a promoter to create and manage the venue at the City Park. A lot of Sturgis merchants and residents are not happy with this decision taken without them getting a chance to express their opinion and concerns. Until now he park traditionally has served as a rally-free refuge for the locals.
Alabama Only State Not To Require Motorcycle License. Lawmakers To Change That. Alabama is the only state that doesn’t require a motorcycle license or motorcycle endorsement. A piece of legislation that would require motorcycle operators to obtain a designated license passed its first hurdle in the Alabama House. If passed this session, the new law would require drivers of motorcycles to pass a motorcycle operating test and obtain a Class M endorsement on their driver’s license or a Class M driver’s license beginning Jan. 1, 2016. The test would cost $5. The bill also authorizes police officers to write a ticket if you are riding a motorcycle without a license.
2015 Sturgis Buffalo Chip Challenge. For the 7th edition, the students of the Sturgis Brown High School are building a 2014 Harley-Davidson Road King and an Indian Chieftain. The students work a couple hours a week in school but mostly after school and on weekends. They are helped by custom builders Paul Yaffe and Nick Trask for the Harley and by John Shope for the Indian. Both motorcycles will be auctioned off at the Legends Ride on August 3rd, the first official day of the 75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Elio Motors Launched A New Investment Strategy Based On The 2012 JOBS Act. The legislature allows start ups to offer eligible investors the opportunity to buy into the company. Interested people can buy into Elio for as little as $15,000. The JOBS Act makes it possible for people with $1 million in assets (excluding their primary residence) or two years of income of at least $200,000 for an individual or $300,000 for a family to invest. This is one of several strategies being used by Elio to raise money to get its enclosed three-wheeler to production. The target date for production is the first half of 2016 and the vehicle is expected to sell for $6,800 and get up to 84 MPG. Anyone interested in learning about the opportunity can go to the Elio Motors website and click on the “Investor Inquiries” tab. The Certificate of Accredited Investor and Non-Disclosure forms will need to be downloaded and completed to begin the eligibility process.

Alabama takes a step closer to catching up with the 1970’s while Elio begins a new round of screwing investors. Where’s Elio located???
From what I found on the internet the company headquarters are located in Phoenix, AZ and the manufacturing facility is to be located in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. This is what I collected from a Bing search.
“Until now he park traditionally has served as a rally-free refuge for the locals” Not true. The city park was open to campers for years. Around the late 70’s (???) there were incidents in the park that nearly shut down the rally. Instead they simply closed the park at that time.
I saw an Elio prototype last year at an Alternative Fueled Vehicles show in Long Beach CA. While interesting and somewhat coolish, I was a little concerned that they didn’t actually have a production facility set up then. More so now. If it actually goes to production it is something I might consider for my commuter “bike” during rain season in Alabama. Otherwise it is still a shot in the dark investment wise. Buyer Beware
Alabama has required a M for quite some time. What is happening now is a requirement for mandatory rider/safety training. Anyone can get a M on their license by simply passing the written test only. peace
