RSD Super Hooligan Flat Track Racing In Austin At The Handbuilt Show. Race Video.

hooliganraceThe Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin, conveniently takes place on the same weekend as the famed COTA Moto GP as well as the COTA GNC Flat Track. The event is a mash up of racing, custom and culture creators. You have the crème de la crème of custom motorcycles from builders like Max Hazzan, Shinya Kimura, our own Roland Sands and of course the shows originator, Revival Cycles. Moto GP and Moto America is happening right down the street so guys like Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwartz, Jason Lee and Keanu Reeves are in attendance. You throw in the American Motordrome Wall of Death with some craft cocktails inspired by Paul D’Orleans of the Vintagent, some original motorcycle inspired artwork and one would think it couldn’t get any better. Right? We thought so, too. Then the city of Austin allowed a Super Hooligan short track to be built in the middle of downtown. And race on it. It took the team from Indian Motorcycle, Revival Cycles and Roland Sands Design a hell of an effort to make it happen, but happen it did.

In 48 hours Brian Bell and the relentless crew of IV League Flat Tracktook a gravel parking lot, too many tons of dirt to count, over one hundred orange and white barriers and built a solid sure bet of a race track. The sun was setting, the light draping the bodywork of machines in dust in a way only found at a race track covered in dirt. Indians, Harleys, Hondas, Ducatis, you name it, it was there. This is the epitome of Hooligan racing. Run what ya brung, boys and girls. Expect a hard, short and fast race with the only real trophy being to call your claim, a Hooligan. Watch the video.

Looks like RSD got an idea, is executing it well thanks to Indian. What about Billy Lane board track racing project?

Agree with comment above – keen marketing by Polaris. Nothing wrong with that, however just imagine what a Ducati Monster 821 will do, if it is thrown in among these pigeons?

In short: this is marketing – not racing…

sigfreed. In short: this is marketing – not racing…. . Correct .

Hooligan racing is purely an exhibition of race what you bring but if you like what you see with Hooligan racing you will be overwhelmed with the AMA pro flat track bikes.

Flat track racing is not about how much horsepower a bike creates but more about the pulse of the engine driving the rear wheel in / on dirt . [ hence the longevity of the XR 750 Harley and a heavy flywheel and very expensive to rebuild every week.]

Good to see it happen. We tried to go in Daytona but it was cancelled. Exhibition or not, it looks like a fun time and a good show.

Imagine what an F1 car would do thrown in amongst a field of NASCAR pigeons? Or Sprint cars, or sports cars…therefore none of those other series are real racing.

bob s . So right you are throw in some Off road truck racing , Drag racing and maybe some Rally car racing. FI would dominate all types of racing.

All forms of pro racing have their guide lines and require a different skill set

Hooligan is Purely exhibition by invitation [promoting street bikes as flat track bikes with a corporate influence] and not conforming to the sanctioning body of AMA pro flat track racing which requires a licence to participate and bikes configured to AMA rules.
