0Standard Motorcycle Co. (SMC) is a community driven co-op motorcycle garage and online educational hub for DIY motorcycle enthusiasts. Not only they have opened a collaborative space for all creatives and artisans, designers and DIY builders and newcomers motivated to flex some elbow-grease, They are pioneering motorcycle education by utilizing industry experts to bring members access to fun, engaging feature quality content that cannot be found anywhere else.

13All motorcycle building, from frame building, to sheet metal fabrication to suspension tuning, ec. Add an extensive array of technical workshops accessible 24 hours a day no matter where you might be. And of course, there will also be content around basic maintenance and even information on how to properly setup your own home garage. All of this will be part of our Virtual Technical Library.

Standard Motorcycle Co. (SMC) just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds to build this online technical library that will enable enthusiasts to feel empowered, to do more with their motorcycles, and help fuel the next generation of riders. Help the partners create a unique way to reach the growing demographic of Millennials in the industry. Custom builders, engineers. mechanics and influencers in the industry will be part of their videos and help share what’s relevant and pertinent to you in your world of motorcycling.     A really nice idea but I wonder if there are enough of your Millennials that actually want to get their hands dirty and do their own wrenching and not just take it to the dealer, to make it a viable financial operation? It’s certainly rewarding to DIY and a service like this could go a long way to providing inspiration and knowledge, but committing the time, the effort, and the capital outlay you need can be a real issue.

    It should be for everybody, not only millennials. I have 2 neighbors who just retired. Bored…they started for the 1st time in their lives to tinker with their bikes in their garages!

    I think that the co-op is open to everyone. I am a member, and am 44 years old, we also have several retired guys that are members as well. No discrimination here…
