If the rebuild kit costs $300 I’d hate to see what a new motor costs from the MoCo.
Much cheaper than HD, they run about $1475
Wow, I didn’t think the Tri-Glide had even been out long enough for the reverse motors to get worn out. Sounds like a design problem.
They’ve been in production since ’09, that’s 9 years, and a lot of guys put from 5 to 25 thousand miles a year or more on them. And it’s a nice design but poorly implemented. Some wear out quickly, others seem to work for many years. Most of the issues are the brush dust building up and/or corrosion inside the unit.
