Russell likes bikes with an industrial look and made his mark building them this way with his own style. Huge exhaust pipes have always been a signature component on every Exile bikes for over a decade. The same style of pipes is now finally available for your 1986 – 2008 Harley-Davidson Softails. Two models are available: "Monster Drag Pipes" and "Monster Shotgun Pipes". Both feature heavy 16 gauge steel tubing and a finish that is truly show worthy. The 1¾” header pipe continues inside the true 2½” outer body maximizing the scavenging pressure, resulting in significant performance gains. This double layer construction also helps resist discoloration. Each set includes removable louvered-core baffles with polished billet end-tips, and all the necessary brackets and hardware. The Exile logo is carved into each pipe so everyone will know you’re running the real deal. Exile Monster Pipes are priced at $599 and are available exclusively through Drag Specialties or direct from Exile Cycles. Exile also offers their ‘combo’ deal: one front pipe and both styles of rear pipe for $799, allowing you to switch up the look of your ride for very little extra cash. Exile Cycles..

Very nice pipes, we sell for Exile and these pipes look like a good seller. I am building a bit of a 250 chubby ,low, long bike currently and this exhausts system looks like it might be just the ticket for the look I am going after. Always 1st class from Exile.
nice pipes and they are certain to make power considering who’s making them for russ.
saw them being built yesterday- nice quality.
Absolutely.
Shotgun pipes look cool. However….
RE:
“…they are certain to make power …”
Toph…. maybe making more powers by bolting on pipes isn’t all that “certain” (?)
(Take a look at “Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems” by P.H. Smith)
(or http://www.mez.co.uk/mezporting/exhaust_length.html)
There’s a whole bunch-a other stuff to consider.
And it’s gonna be different for each motor:
Exhaust valve duration in Degrees.
Carburetor induction Length in Inches .
Exhaust valve correctly timed full lift with degrees after TDC
Overlap in Degrees.
Tuned length From the Valve Head
Primary inside Diameter is in Inches .
Secondary Pipe Length in Inches
Two Secondary pipe inside diameter.
Fours Primary Pipe Always (15″ Inch)Long
Collector box Length in Inches
Tailpipe Inside diameter in Inches.
Tailpipe Length in Inches
So, ya can just bolt up stuff, like OCC.
Or ya can get out the calculator…. (groan).

Did Russell have a vision when he designed these pipes or was he reading a vance & hines catalogue in the shitter???????????
thanks nicker, but please spare me the lesson. as you probably know, pipes are sold and bought primarily for how they look, not perform, like most of the things people put on their v-twins.
maybe i should have said, compared to a lot of the shit on the market, these pipes have the capacity when installed on a properly tuned motor, to make power. the folks who make them are pretty adept at making pipes that work; they’re not merely short drag pipes.
you may have mentioned that the unequal length of one Exile style (the top pic) wouldn’t be optimal for making the best power.
funny comment duncan. no heat shields on these to rattle, instead a pipe in a pipe.
Sorry,
No lesson intended, just facts.

Ya, it goes without saying.
I think that link has an automatic calulator.
