Permit Denied For 2 Million Bikers Ride Through Washington DC To Commemorate 9/11. Washington DC has denied a permit for a no-stop ride through Washington DC on Wednesday September 11. Organizers state that bikers want to ride “to remember those who were killed on 911 and honor our armed forces who fought those who precipitated this attack.” They also declare that the ride “is to counter protest to the planned Million Muslim March on DC’ also SET FOR this September 11.

The submitted ride route was supposed to take participants to the Viet Nam Memorial, then to the Lincoln Memorial, across the bridge into Virginia, and that’s it. A ride lasting less than 2 hours after which Washington DC would have been back to normal. BUT organizers state that “They don’t need stinking permit, have constitutional rights and that bikers should ride on Wednesday morning.” I really doubt that the Washington DC is going to arrest all bikers, whatever their number, 2 million or much

Organizers decided to change their itinarary and issued the following statement. “You are true, blue Patriots and we salute you for your participation in this event! Many of you have taken time off of work to be here. You have freely given of your time, your funds, and your bikes to ride shoulder to shoulder in this event. You have left your families and your jobs to be here. Those of us who ride come from different clubs, chapters, and organizations. Some of us ride with family and friends and some ride alone. But on September 11th, we ride as one! We ride to pay tribute and offer respect to those that lost their lives on that day 12 years ago, and to salute our troops engaged in the War on Terror. Riders!…we are the best of the best in America!! Our love for these people and this country is staggering, and we will make a display of Patriotism and of solidarity America won’t soon forget”

the bikers werent denied access, they were denied a permit to be able to ride through the city non-stop without having to stop for lights/stop signs. Speaking as someone who lives/commutes in a metro area by car and motorcycle, having that many bikes “on parade” would be a huge pain in the ass.

Dannyb278. The article says permit denied. So, what’s your beef.

I have no beef, the articals i’ve read about this make it out to seem that the riders werent allowed to ride AT ALL, the only permit that was denied was the permit request to ride non-stop through the city, like a parade. Big differance. Its not like they were banned from washington as many are making it out to be.

Reading comprehension is a great thing. look it up.

A quick search on Google indicates dozens of sources that will illustrate just who these one and two million-whatever groups are. I don’t believe that any political BS belongs on Cyril’s site so I will leave it at that.

We may want to consider including politics and how it affects our riding, our motorcycles and ourselves.
Motorcycle riders pay additional taxes. – politics
Motorcycle riders comply with additional laws and regulations – politics
Motorcycle riders are treated as second class citizens. – politics.
Motorcycle riders affect Prisoner of War/Missing In Action issues – politics
Motorcycle riders thwart efforts of Westboro Baptist Church – politics and religion
Motorcycle riders lead parades – politics
Motorcycle riders escort dignitaries – politics
Motorcycle riders die serving our country – politics and religion
Motorcycle riders stand up to threats foreign and domestic. – politics and religion
Motorcycle riders honor our dead – politics and religion
As you can see, excluding politics and religion is not a reality for motorcycle riders.
911 is a number for emergencies. 911, as a calendar date has also been an emergency twice for Americans. Once on our soil and once in Benghazi. Americans died at the whims and actions of Muslims. We may not agree with their treatment of us. We may want to watch their moves. We may want to gather, as a group, to look more closely at their group to see what they are up to in our country. As a motorcyclist and as an adversary to any other people attacking and decimating our country and people, these political and religious issues demand the highest scrutiny of all riders. Each and every one of us has a duty to maintain our own life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Reliability of our motorcycle, our way of life and the lives of our heirs is our burden. By keeping our community of motorcyclists unified and strong, we keep our family and our nation healthy. That’s the politic of riding.

“But the safety of the people of America against dangers from foreign force depends not only on their forbearing to give just causes of war to other nations, but also on their placing and continuing themselves in such a situation as not to invite hostility or insult; for it need not be observed that there are pretended as well as just causes of war.”

The denial of the permit is going to make DC a bigger mess than if they let them ride through nonstop
