The touring models affected all feature the new Milwaukee-Eight platform. A clamp used to secure the engine oil cooler line may have been improperly installed with a potential for the line for being detached and creating a sudden loss of engine oil. Oil on the rear tire also may result in loss of motorcycle control, increasing the risk of a crash. The FL bikes concerned by this recall are: Electra Glide Ultra Classic (FLHTCU), Police Electra Glide (FLHTP), Police Road King (FLHP), Road King (FLHR), Road King Special (FLHRXS), Street Glide (FLHX), Street Glide Special (FLHXS), Road Glide (FLTRX), and Road Glide Special (FLTRXS) motorcycles. Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the oil cooler line clamps, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on June 6, 2017. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson’s number for this recall is 0170. Indian Motorcycle Teamed Up With Rokker Denim For A Line A High Quality Jeans. Only Sold In The EMEA Region.
Published by May 31st, 2017 in Builders, Editorial and Merchandise. At the Bike Shed London show, Indian Motorcycle and The Indian Rokker Company unveiled the Original Rokker Indian Jeans featuring an Indian branded leather patch on the rear and pocket tab. These have been exclusively designed for Indian and will only available in Indian dealers from the end of June 2017 and come in a collectable wooden box (note that they will only be on sale in the EMEA region, not in North America).
The two founders of The Rokker Company, Kai Glatt and Michael Kuratli, say they chose Indian because there isn’t any other brand in the motorcycle industry that has the tradition and image that matches so well. The inner lining of the Original Rokker Indian Jeans is made of schoeller®-dynatec and guarantees protection from abrasion and heat up to 100 km/h. Having this protective fabric on the inside of the jeans makes it possible fro Rokker to create a fashionable style on the outside so that the cut and wash are a match for other leading denim brands out there.
In the case of the Original Rokker Indian Jeans, bikers can choose between a raw and a washed version. The raw version comes with a zipper fly as opposed to the button fly used in the washed version (stonewashed). The raw version comes with a zipper fly as opposed to the button fly used in the washed version (stonewashed). The jeans are breathable (so there’s no sweating even in high temperatures), wind resistant (prevents the rider from getting wind chill), water repellent (so rain beads on the fabric and runs off) and easy to clean (washable at 40°C and ironing after the wash increases the water repellence). The jeans come in an Indian/Rokker branded wooden box (collectable).

American Flat Track Twins At The Illinois State Fairgrounds. Bryan Smith Pulled Off A 3rd Successive Mile Miracle Aboard His Indian Scout FTR750.
Published by May 30th, 2017 in Editorial and Racing. The victory was the defending Grand National Champion’s fourth race win in a row overall, making him just the fifth rider in series history to accomplish that feat.
It certainly did not come easily on Saturday afternoon. Smith hoped to make an escape at the start, building up more than a half-second advantage early on before rival Jared Mees (No. 9 Indian Motorcycle Rogers Racing Scout FTR750) slowly reeled him back in. Soon enough, the third member of the Indian Wrecking Crew, Brad Baker on the No. 6 Indian Motorcycle Racing backed by Allstate Scout FTR750, followed suit.
The next man destined to join the fight up front looked to be Springfield master Kenny Coolbeth (No. 2 Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Team XG750R). The Main Event was shaping up to be a significant uptick in form for the entire works Harley-Davidson crew with all three riders battling in strong position, led by Coolbeth, who was sixth and closing with the laps winding down. Unfortunately, a freak incident between Coolbeth and teammates Jake Johnson (No. 5 Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Team XG750R) and Brandon Robinson (No. 44 Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Team XG750R) dashed the hopes for the Factory trio. A red flag then flew, setting the stage for a six-lap shootout for victory. Continue reading ‘American Flat Track Twins At The Illinois State Fairgrounds. The doctor gladly started the required procedure and asked them what finally made them make the decision. Why, after 9 children, would you choose to do this?
Dave replied that they had read in a recent article that 1 out of 10 children being born in the United States is a Mexican and that they didn’t want to take a chance on having a Mexican baby because neither of them could speak Spanish.

Published by May 25th, 2017 in Builders, Editorial and Events.I am not sure if the saga of American motorcycle sport company EBR which produced street and racing motorcycles, is going to end on June 7, or will continue under a new form/ownership that nobody in the industry can predict. Burt Munro 50th Anniversary World Speed Record Celebrated This Year In Bonneville By Burt’s Great Nephew Lee Racing A Current Day Indian Scout Streamliner
Published by May 24th, 2017 in Builders, Editorial and Events.Fifty years ago a motorcyclist from New Zealand entered the record books in a never-to-be-forgotten moment on the Bonneville Salt Flats on his Indian Scout Streamliner. Celebrated in the featured film, “The World’s Fastest Indian,” Burt Munro transcends motorcycling and is an icon for pushing personal boundaries and rising above conventional limitations.
To commemorate Burt’s feat, Indian Motorcycle is teaming up with Burt’s great nephew, Lee Munro, to race a current-day Indian Scout Streamliner on the Bonneville Salt Flats on August 13. To create the modern day “world’s fastest Indian,” a team of seven Indian Motorcycle engineers volunteered, worked after hours, and from production Scout and added horsepower, cut weight, and added aerodynamic improvements.
“Motorcycling is about shedding boundaries and limitations to go beyond the norm and there is no better example of that than Burt Munro,” said Reid Wilson, Indian Motorcycle Marketing Director. “Driven by unparalleled determination and a legendary passion for the pursuit, Burt Munro embodies the spirit of Indian Motorcycle and we couldn’t be prouder to honor his legacy with an updated version of his historic record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in August.”
The team will perform several test runs in El Mirage, California before Lee Munro takes to the Salt Flats of Bonneville. Lee Munro will pilot a modern-day Indian Scout with a powertrain modified by the Indian Motorcycle engineering team and a slick aerodynamic shell in an effort to become the world’s fastest modern day Indian motorcycle. The run will not break Burt’s record, but instead will honor his storied legacy in the world of motorcycling.
Burt Munro’s name is known by shed builders across the globe and is the ultimate example of the gritty, adrenaline-fueled pastime of expanding the limits of speed at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Lee Munro said: “My uncle Burt was a significant inspiration for my own racing career and his appetite for speed is clearly a part of my DNA. What Indian Motorcycle is doing is fantastic and I couldn’t be prouder to partner with them and pilot my own Scout at Bonneville in honor of my uncle and the 50th anniversary of his historic record.” Continue reading ‘Burt Munro 50th Anniversary World Speed Record Celebrated This Year In Bonneville By Burt’s Great Nephew Lee Racing A Current Day Indian Scout Streamliner’
Harley-Davidson Building A Factory In Thailand To Serve Its International Customers. United Steelworkers (USW) Strongly Condemns.
Published by May 24th, 2017 in Builders, Editorial and Events. The Milwaukee-based company said that this new factory will not affect its U.S. operations. “Asia Pacific is a growth market for Harley-Davidson because of its expanding economy, growing middle class, positive consumer spending trends and increasing market demand for larger motorcycle sales,” a spokesman for the company said.
But United Steelworkers (USW) International President Leo W. Gerard released the following statement. The USW represents members at Harley’s plants in Wisconsin and Missouri. “Harley-Davidson has been the crown jewel of American manufacturing. It’s an iconic brand that represents true American spirit. Management’s decision to offshore production is a slap in the face to the American worker and to hundreds of thousands of Harley riders across the country” Continue reading ‘Harley-Davidson Building A Factory In Thailand To Serve Its International Customers. For the 4th year, Harley-Davidson welcomed bikers May 20-21 downtown Cologne near the famous Church and around for festivities, a parade of 2500 riders to the Rhine river. It was followed by a 2-daybike show sponsored by Metzeler and Custom Chrome Europe.
The event is free of access for the public at large, but each bike owner must pay 10 euros to pay for security enforcement in and out of this extremely urban and congested area of the city. Yes, in Germany, organizers and have to be financially ready to face any unforeseen event, including the most apocalyptic. And money is raised from those “making” the event (bikers) and not from the watching spectators…
