Indian Wrecking Crew Continues To Dominate The 2017 American Flat Track Championship

Yesterday evening, leading the charge around Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona was reigning Grand National Champion Bryan Smith. Smith drew upon every last ounce of his trademark Mile magic to position his No. 1 Indian Motorcycle Racing backed by Allstate Scout FTR750 ahead of the identical No. 6 Indian Scout FTR750 of Brad Baker at the checkered flag by a scant 0.057 seconds. It was the fourth sweep of the factory Indian Motorcycle trio. Smith now sits perfectly even on top of the AFT Twins title fight with Jared Mees (No. 9 Indian Motorcycle Rogers Racing Scout FTR750) at 87 a piece. Mees retained a share of the points lead by furthering his season-long string of podium results with a close third.

Following two red flags and with the sun quickly headed to the horizon, the AFT Twins presented by Vance & Hines Main Event was reconfigured into a dramatic five-lap shootout. At the second and final restart, Baker again resumed his place at the front of the field and appeared well on his way to grabbing his first victory of 2017. However, Smith had other ideas, ducking down the inside at the opening of the penultimate lap and held strong from there. Thanks to the combined efforts of Smith and Mees early in 2017, the Indian Scout FTR750 has now opened its first full season of American Flat Track competition by claiming a victory in each Grand Slam discipline (TT, Short Track, Half-Mile, Mile). Strong Rumor Of The Week. Royal Enfield Trying To Buy Ducati. Royal Enfield would have approached Ducati Motor SPA owned by German auto conglomerate Volkswagen AG. Royal Enfield is the second Indian manufacturer after Hero MotoCorp, that is rumored to be in consideration to acquire the Italian motorcycle brand. While neither Ducati nor Royal Enfield have confirmed this development, there are possible good reasons for such a buy. 1- Volkswagen sale of the Italian brand that could $1.5 billion to fund VW’s multi-billion Euro shift to develop electric vehicles. 2- Ducati and Royal Enfield won’t overlap in motorcycle segments, but could share some technologies 3- As Royal Enfield aggressively looks at expanding its global footprint, a brand like Ducati can only improve RE’s reputation and international standing further. 3- Then, there is Ducati’s expansive network that RE can tap into, which will work as a catalyst for the manufacturer’s global ambitions. If that were to happen, Ducati bikes in India will come at even more competitive prices, opening the possibility of a larger customer base for Ducati in the world’s largest two-wheeler market.

AMA Supports National Historic Vehicle Register Act. The American Motorcyclist Association supports a federal bill that would create a national register to preserve the records of historic vehicles, including motorcycles, that have made a significant impact on U.S. history and culture. The National Historic Vehicle Register Act (S. 966), introduced by U.S. Sens. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio), would require the U.S. Department of the Interior to establish a register housed in the Library of Congress to preserve examples of American history and engineering innovation by documenting historically significant automobiles, motorcycles, trucks, and commercial vehicles. IT would include short narratives, photographs and engineering drawings of each vehicle. To be eligible for the register, vehicles must be connected to a significant person or event in American history, have a unique design or be a rare model. CCE’s First Customized Harley Milwaukee-Eight

For its new “Bolt-On and Ride” series in which Custom Chrome Europe commissions well known builders to create customs using parts they distribute, CCE just introduced for the 1st time a custom Harley Milwaukee-Eight, the most recent and future generation of Harley-Davidson® V-Twin engines touring line (2 versions 107” & 114”)

Named Gotcha, the 10% more power, quicker acceleration, heat management, reduced vibration touring machine was customized by Thunderbike Germany from its own catalog parts, a few one-off and those picked from CCE’’s major vendors. I have to note that many official Harley dealers are quite shy and intimidated at the idea to “improve/modify” a Milwaukee-Eight, and that the objective of CCE with its custom partner Thunderbike, was to demonstrate that’s ’s possible to create from stock a better looking Harley machine without changing its motorcycle personality. Fender Brackets Should Always Be Problem Solvers, Not The Opposite.

Just as there is more than one way to skin a cat, there are a multitude of ways a motorcycle rear fender can be mounted. True to their DIY, home-builder roots, Lowbrow Customs has created several Rear Fender Mounts that help simplify, not complicate the task of mounting your rear motorcycle fender that are both robust and well-designed.

Lowbrow Customs produces several different fender mounting solutions that can be used for both upper or lower rear fender mounts, and for flat trailer fenders or curved and ribbed fenders alike. There is a weld-on upper fender mounting tab that has a flat profile (SKU 008624, $11.95) and works beautifully with trailer fenders, which are commonly found on custom choppers.

The weld-on mount for curved and ribbed fenders (SKU 008626, $21.95) solves the issue of mounting a ribbed fender with the included weld-on threaded bungs and stainless steel hardware. A beefy, lower fender mount tab (008625, $8.95) with a 90 degree bend is a real time-saver and can be used for fenders or any other custom mount. All are made of 1/4″ thick mild steel in Ohio, USA. Pair any of these with Lowbrow Customs’ DIY Fender Strut Kit and your fender mounting needs have been met in full.

Lowbrow Customs’ weld-on rear fender mounts are $8.95 – $21.95. For more details or to place your order call toll-free 1-855-456-9276 or visit Lowbrow Customs.
