Steve McQueen’s classic Pope 61CI Model Motorcycle Auctioned This Thursday January 25th In Las Vegas

A 1914 Pope 61CI Model bought by the Great Escape star in the late 1970s just a few years before his untimely death, has emerged for sale by the Bonhams Auction House this Thursday, January 25th, at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. McQueen’s purchase of the bike came as the result of long trips spent scouring the countryside with close friend and legendary stunt driver, Bud Ekins. McQueen added it to his huge collection of automobiles, but when he died suddenly of cancer in November 1980, unlike most of his machines, the Pope was sold privately and not at auction.

The Pope was purchased by Otis Chandler, a well known publisher and proprietor of the Los Angeles Times. He placed the 1,000cc bike on display in his personal motor museum in Oxnard, California before selling it years later to an established collector in classic motorcycles. The bike remains in superb condition and its pale blue bodywork appears without a scratch. It has white tires and deep red markings identifying the it as a Pope. It has a top speed of around 70mph and its connection to McQueen is expected to add considerably to the bike’s value.

Ben Walker, global head of motorcycles for the auction house, said: “This is a very rare bike indeed. “We have only offered two examples of this model in the last ten years so that gives you an idea of just how uncommon this bike is. Indian FTR750 Scout Becoming The Bike Of Choice For A Growing List of Privateers In This Year’s AMA Flat Track Championship

After last year’s dominant performance, many privateer riders are turning to Indian and its championship-winner Scout FTR750. The Scout FTR750 captured the 2017 American Flat Track Manufacturer’s Championship and swept the 2017 standings with Indian’s Wrecking Crew Jared Mees, Bryan Smith and Brad Baker finishing first, second and third, respectively (14 total wins, 37 podiums and six podium sweeps)

The six privateers running the Scout FTR750 include: three-time Grand National Champion Kenny Coolbeth Jr., 2017 fifth-place finisher Jeffrey Carver (Roof Systems of Dallas, TX), Chad Cose (Indian Motorcycle of Oklahoma City), Jay Maloney (Indian Motorcycle of Springfield, MA), Additionally, flat track’s TT master Henry Wiles and two-time Grand National Champion Jake Johnson (Estenson Racing) will ride the Scout FTR750 intermittently this season.

Kenny Coolbeth will ride the Indian Scout FTR750 throughout the entire 2018 season and said: “After seeing the Scout FTR750’s capabilities last year, I couldn’t be more excited to be riding it this season. I’ve been training hard this offseason and I’m looking forward to competing this year and giving the Indian factory team some competition now that we’re all on the same bike.”

Gary Gray, Vice President – Racing, Service & Technology for Indian Motorcycle said: “We’re extremely excited to see so many talented riders turn to the FTR750 this season. We’re committed to supporting not only our factory team, but the privateers, as we have an aggressive contingency program in place that will reward these riders with performance incentives.”

Indian has committed more than $350,000 in contingency incentives, including $25,000 for a Championship, $5,000 for first-place wins, $4,000 for second-place, $3,000 for third-place finishes, and payouts for up to 10th-place finishers.

Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb Motorcycling Debut at X Games

In an X Games first, Harley-Davidson® Snow Hill Climb will make its debut at X Games Aspen as a medaled event alongside ski, snowboard and other action-sports competitions. The new medal sport will close out X Games Aspen 2018, which airs January 25-28 on ESPN and ABC.

In the Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb, riders will race modified twin-cylinder motorcycles up the flat bottom of the SuperPipe course. In each heat, riders will line up side-by-side at the start line at the base of the SuperPipe for a head-to-head race.

The first racer to ride the length of the SuperPipe and clear the finish line at the top will earn the “W.” Each Harley-Davidson Snow Hill Climb race motorcycle consists of an extended swingarm widen frame and a high-torque, twin-cylinder motor.

Jesse James Built A President Trump 45-Caliber Pistol

You know him as a custom motorcycle builder, a show personality and reality star (motorcycle Mania, Monster Garage, etc), maybe also as a participant in 2009 of the NBC show The Apprentice presented by Donald Trump, and now as a gunsmith at JJFU (Jesse James Firearms Unlimited) where he creates gorgeous custom pistols.

His latest creation is a 45-caliper gun dedicated to Donald J. Trump, our 45th President…

The model is a “JJFU” Grand Master X. It got a very flamboyant appearance with an intricate work of engraving and using some 24-karat gold plating. The handmade case is local Texas Pecan and Walnut.

On one side is engraved “Donald J. Trump”. On the other side “45th President of the United States Of America”. No decision made yet if Jesse James will try to sell the bespoke gun to D.J. Trump, or give it to the President, making it as a gift … a property of the people of the United States.

Motor Bike Expo 10th Anniversary In Verona, Italy (January 18-21) Part 1.

Probably the largest indoor motorcycle show in the world with 160,000 paying visitors. Starting today, 4 days open to the public. Custom Builders from over the world, several hundreds of custom bikes, many being unveiled for the first time during the event. The Motor Bike Expo (MBE) offers a 360° panorama view of the current, and future, motorcycle world.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, MBE will give a “King of Motor Bike Expo” Award chosen by a panel of 5 international judges. It may be the most highly anticipated custom event of the 2018 custom scene. Because the Ness family has been part of the Motor Bike Expo since since its beginning ten years ago, unveiled new bikes and custom parts, the 4 members (Arlen, Cory, Zack & Max) will be honored by the organization.

These few pictures taken yesterday during bikes setup don’t pretend to be a representation of all those participating to the event. The Hypercharger ES’ state-of-the-art electronic throttle response butterflies eliminate vacuum-triggered fluttering. An integrated servo motor syncs with the coil to actuate and open the butterflies for smooth, precise movement with every twist of the throttle. Performance: Third-party dyno testing performed by St. Croix Harley-Davidson (New Richmond, Wis.) resulted in added horsepower and more than six additional ft. lbs. of torque throughout the power band on a stock 114ci Milwaukee-Eight Heritage Softail. Previous dyno testing performed on a stock 107ci Milwaukee-Eight Street Glide by Those Dyno Guys (Zimmerman, Minn.) produced an 8.5-percent increase in horsepower and 3-percent more torque.

Custom Options: The Hypercharger ES’ modern muscle car-inspired A380 aluminum housing is offered in three finish options. The modular housing allows for easy customization with available Classic Faceplate Kits (sold separately), featuring a fluted design that completely alters the style in minutes.

Europe To Mandate Emergency Call System For Motorcycles. USA To Follow?

An emergency call system for cars has been around for a while. For example think of the GM OnStar safety device system providing a quick response in case of accident. An equivalent system called “eCall” will be mandatory on all new European cars sold after April 16, 2018. Reasoning that motorcycles are more prone to a crash than cars, the European Union now wants manufacturers to equip all motorcycles with an an S.O.S alert system.

Since 2017, some BMW motorcycles already offers the “Intelligent Emergency Call” sent automatically or manually by the rider to emergency responders. Studies show that the emergency crews would be able to get to the accident scene 40 to 50% faster ending p saving around 2,500 lives every year in Europe alone. What about the US?

Harley-Davidson Round Bar End Mirror. Left.

Bar end mirrors were used a lot of original Café Racers for a very streamlined look. This H-D setup provides a clean appearance when compared to traditional mirrors.

The round convex mirror plugs into the end of the handlebar to extend beyond the hand grip for an improved field of view on the bike equipped with narrow bars. When equipped with the Bar End Mirror, the mirror is simply inserted into the end of the grip and tightened in place. Can be positioned above the bar or in some configurations, below the bar. AMA Supermoto Racing At Sturgis Buffalo Chip® Moto Stampede

This coming august, the Sturgis Buffalo Chip will become the epicenter of rally racing. AMA Supermoto, a high-energy race hybrid, will bring Sturgis Buffalo Chip® campers face to face with the ultimate “through-the-streets” style racing on Friday, Aug. 11 and Saturday, Aug. 12. Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital.

One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out.

When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna’s heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell Edna the news she said, ‘Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you’re being discharged since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.

The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he’s dead.’

Edna replied, ‘He didn’t hang himself, I put him up there to dry…How soon can I go home?’

First Turbo-Charged Indian Scout

Unless you are a pure drag racer, all of your riding will be off-boost. So, why use forced induction (turbochargers or superchargers) in a new Indian Scout motorcycle? Especially if you consider the legal authorized carbon dioxide limits and the difficulty of fitting a turbocharger in a small bike like the Scout. As a matter of fact, forced induction has only been applied, without success, on a handful of Japanese production motorcycles. Swedish co-builders Anders Lundgren (the Fullhouse Garage Shop) and Lasse Sundber (from Roth Engineering) say that they have built this Super Scout as a tribute to Oscar Hedstrom (1871 – 1960), the co-founder of the Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company. In their words, “a way to build a bike that was related with the Indian istory of board track racing and at the same time featuring the modern technology that Indian stands for today.” For them the Scout model was the perfect choice and they came up with the name Super Scout to honor the old Scout models that were almost unbeatable on the race tracks.

If you look attentively you will notice that the frame is a one-off built in-house by Lasse Sundber Objective was of course to be able to fit the turbo while keeping a familiar Scout stance. Only engine, fuel pump, headlamp and shifter pedal are from a modern day Scout…This very unusual project features a water-cooled Garret 25 turbo now making 150 to 200hp at the rear wheel depending on the boost pressure. The Garret 25 turbo itself has an external wastegate (wait until you hear it) and boost control. The head pipes and down pipes to the turbo and the wastegate are all istainless steel and fitted as tight as possible to the frame as to not interfere with the slim lines of the bike. Indian’s range of T-shirts continue to expand with fresh designs for 2018. The Indian Motorcycle 1901 Fashion Fit tees feature hand painted graphic designs that gives the range a distinctive style, as well as a fit that is closer to the body than other styles in the Indian range. Made in California, these t-shirts use a lighter weight cotton fabric for a more contemporary style. From left to right and top to bottom:
