Harley-Davidson Recalls 2015 Tri-Glide Model

A total of 1560 Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide Ultra Classic (FLHTCUTG) have an issue with the rear brake master cylinder assembled with the wrong piston. By lack of support, it may create a tear in the primary cup, decreasing the brake pressure and increasing the risk of crashing.
Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear master cylinder, free of charge. Ti-Glide owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 414-343-4056. Harley-Davidson’s number for this recall is 0162. Some custom bikes don’t need a lot of narrative to understand the builder’s intention and how the build was done. A hardtail frame modified at the shop to accept a fat 18 x 8.5” rear tire (still a favorite in Europe) and a front 21” both wrapped in Conti Race Attack tires, an Ultima 127” engine to show the street what you are made of, a Buell XB12 front end just because it looks good on this type of bike, an oil tank hidden inside the gas tank to visually lighten up the bike side view, a race car style tachometer and lettering on tires to tell everybody that you are ready to race and impress others, are the main ingredients for a cool around town sled. So much that the judges of the recent AMD world championsip of Bike Building voted France’s Riverside Motocyclettes the top winner of the Street Performance Class. Thunder Cycle Designs Is On The Move

Eddie Trotta asked me to announce the move of his shop Thunder Cycle Designs to 940 NW 1st Street in Fort Lauderdale (right off Broward Boulevard, next to Euro Motors.) It’s just 5 minutes away from his old shop at 550 West Sunrise Boulevard. The new location is 17500 sq. ft with all the same features. CNC machining, custom fabrication, paint, bikes servicing and parts. Inside renovation is completed and outside is in process, but the new location is already operational. South Carolina Bill Would Require Child Safety Seats And Belts On Motorcycles

South Carolina State Rep. Joseph Daning filed legislation that would require a standard, rear-facing child safety seat to be used for motorcycle passengers from
birth up to 1 year of age and lap and shoulder belts for children younger than 7 and weighing less than 80 lbs. “We take care of our children in cars, but they’re so unprotected on the back of motorcycles” said Daning.
Rep. Bill Taylor, called Daning’s proposal “government overreach” and said motorcyclists are a safety-conscious community. “The question is why do we need a law?. Who in their right mind would take a 1- or 2-year-old on a motorcycle and risk the safety of that child? I have been riding for decades and has never seen an infant placed on a motorcycle” said Taylor. When the issue was first raised, he suggested that the constituent concerns would be better handled by a family court judge instead of through legislation.

Another bike illustrating what young people who want to ride can build in their garage while still being able to pay their student loan and/or first car. “Bolas Púrpura” (Purple Balls!) is a 1981 Yamaha XS650 Special rebuilt in the Japanese Brat style. The factory bike was completely disassembled and everything was sand blasted and powder coated. The suspension was lowered and original wheels were re-laced with stainless spokes. The gas tank is from a 1970 Yamaha GT60 and was left original to reinforce the aged look. A set of titanium wrapped custom exhaust pipes and seat pan were fabricated. A Harley CV carb is now feeding the engine. Chain and sprockets were replaced. No battery, kick start only. A ton of fun for little money. And if you don’t want to do it yourself, Samson V-Twin will do it for you.

Akrapovič was founded in Slovania in 1990 by former racer Igor Akrapovič, when he found there were no exhausts readily available to meet the high technical demands of motorsport. Akrapovič rapidly achieved a string of race successes across all motorsport disciplines, first with motorcycles then with cars. It is from this success that Akrapovič started in 2014 to produce premium exhaust systems for the five most popular Harley-Davidson families: Sportster, Dyna, Softail, Touring and V-Rod. All these exhausts are made of stainless steel and available in two versions: the Slip-On Line and the Open Line.
Slip-On systems Are All About Enjoyment. The Akrapovič muffler system can accept an optional sound control valve system, allowing riders to adjust the sound level with a simple optional switch to keep their hands clean. The catalytic converter is available for markets where this is appropriate. Allstate To Donate Warning Signs To Be Installed At Most Dangerous Intersections For Motorcyclists. Allstate and its engineering partners work closely with local traffic authorities to review available crash data and to identify intersections with a high number of multi-vehicle crashes involving motorcycles. Allstate then donates warning signs to be installed at the site with the intent of elevating awareness of motorcycle incidents that would not be readily apparent to a driver. The warning signs used in the campaign are yellow diamond warning signs that read “Watch For Motorcycles.” Allstate worked in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration to design the current sign to ensure compliance with section 2A.06 paragraph 13 of the M.U.T.C.D. The NHTSA (National Highway Safety Administration), in their Fatality Analysis Reporting System, supports the Hurt Report’s findings, showing 46 percent of all multi-vehicle motorcycle crash fatalities (8,107 out of 17,470 fatalities from 2006-2012) occurred at intersections. This data shows that, on average, three motorcyclists are killed everyday from multi-vehicle crashes at intersections in the US.
Polaris Sued Over Victory Motorcycle Saddlebags. Polaris Industries Inc. on Friday was hit with a proposed class action in Illinois court alleging its Victory motorcycles have a defective latch on their “saddlebags” that renders the storage compartments useless and belies the company’s claims that the bikes are rugged and well-made. Lead plaintiff Charles Harden is alleging that the faulty locking mechanism has appeared since 2010 on several Victory models and can cause the right saddlebag lid to fly open on the road, posing a hazard to the rider and other drivers. The 7-season “Sons Of Anarchy” series is over with the last episode getting the largest number of viewers of the TV show’s entire run. In January, Mecum, the world’s largest seller of antique motorcycles. is going to auction Jerry Lee Lewis’1959 Harley-Davidson. Particularity. The enduring rebel of Rock’ n’ Roll has owned it continuously since 1959, a total of 55 years.
Sam Murtaugh, Mecum’s director of marketing, says that Lewis told him that Harley=Davidson gave away 2 motorcycles, the first for him. the second for Elvis Presley and that he poked fun at Elvis for having gotten the second. It was 2 years after Lewis became a star with his unique piano-driven song “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”, a number one hit on the pop, country and R&B charts in 1957.
