Fresh of the announcement of an all-time retail sales record in 2016,  Triumph Motorcycles is proud to announce that the Bonneville Bobber is the most successful new model launch in Triumph’s history with more customers taking delivery of the Bobber in the first 30 days than any previous motorcycle.

Motorcycle Therapy. Third Annual Charity Ride To Sturgis.

Indian Motorcycle has again joined forces with the “Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis”, a nine-day riding adventure that provides veterans a chance to use motorcycle therapy as a way to decompress from the challenges of post-war life. Twenty deserving veterans and veteran mentors will join this year’s Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis.

Additionally, organiszers are offering two post-9/11 veteran heroes the chance to participate in the ride via the Hero’s Ride of a Lifetime program, which enables the public to nominate these two veterans. One space will be given to an ambulatory veteran motorcycle rider (proof of motorcycle license endorsement and sufficient riding experience required) and the other space will be given to a severely wounded or amputee veteran to ride as a sidecar passenger (no motorcycle experience required). Submissions are now being accepted online (here) with the selections to be announced July 4. Continue reading ‘Motorcycle Therapy. Third Annual Charity Ride To Sturgis.’

The Legend. The Past Lives On…

No doubt that the January’s International Motor Bike Expo in Verona, Italy is the place to go to admire some brand new top of the line Customs competing in the Italian Championship of Custom bike Building. Lots of rolling pieces of art, many of them having a beginning of last century pedigree, featuring an original antique chassis and/or motor. You are looking at “The Legend”, a top winner creation built by Italian motorcycle shop Gallery Motorcycles. It features a 1917 Harley-Davidson model J engine, gearbox and carburetor in a custom hand-made chassis with some vintage parts sourced at other Italian expert and supplier Rebuffini.

Half of all 1917 Harley-Davidson motorcycles were sold to the Army for messenger and traffic duties during WWI, and I have no idea how the motor ended up on the Gallery Motorcycles shelves. Probably as a demilitarized unit dumped among other vehicles all over Europe after the war ended in 1918. Merit of this bike is not only the hand-crafting skills of owner Mirko Perugini but his personal dedication at rebuilding and making work the V-Twin, four-stroke 60.35 cubic inches Harley-Davidson 17J engine with single-speed transmission and electrics.

It was nothing else than a partial piece of scrap metal collecting dust. Many engine parts were missing and even pistons had to be manufactured, but engine internals are strictly authentic. As you can see, cylinders are customized in heat black wrinkle paint, valve train parts and authentic Schebler carburetor are nickel-plated to perfection. Although the objective is not to race it, today this motor could take you to a maximum speed of 85 mph, or about 137 km/h. Continue reading ‘The Legend. The Past Lives On…’

Flashback. 1973 Kawasaki H2. The King Of The Road Or The Widow Maker?

It has a reputation, both very good and very bad. Either “The King Of The Road” or “The Widow Maker” or both…It was the fastest thing on two wheels. Faster than any Suzuki. Faster than any Triumph. Faster than any BSA, and Honda, any anything.” The H2 engine was a 3-cylinder two-stroke with an engine displacement of 748 cc (45.6 cubic inches) which produced 74 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, a power-to-weight ratio of 1 hp to every 6 lb of weight. The H2 was designed for one thing and one thing only: speed. Noise, pollution, fuel consumption, even handling were all afterthoughts. Continue reading ‘Flashback. 1973 Kawasaki H2. The Adventures Of Sparky And Clutch (Episode 3)

The Munro e-Bike. Retro Gorgeous And Painfully Slow.

The Munro Motor company is China-based and is in no way related, financially or otherwise, to the New Zealand Burt Munro’s family. The Munro 2.0 is the vision of Zack Wong who sees all Asians in very few years dumping their highly polluting mopeds and riding electric bicycles and motorcycles. Will the addition of the Munro name with great styling help sales? May be not enough knowing that on the pavement or salt maximum speed is limited to 28 mph. Tech sheet mentions 1 or 2 battery packs in the rear wheel hidden by panels on each side with a 30-mile range per battery pack. An USB port keeps your phone in full charge in case you need to call to say that you are going to arrive late. Should arrive in the US in April with a starting price of $1700.

Indian Motorcycle Announces The 2017 Chieftain Limited And Elite

1- Chieftain Limited.

Indian’s new Chieftain Limited represents a bold evolution of the Chieftain line and paves the way for even more legendary rides. Indian Motorcycle’s designers have added just the right amount of style to give the Chieftain a sleeker look than ever before.

Our goal was to evolve the award-winning Chieftain platform with new models that significantly elevate the bike’s style, while still staying true to the signature design qualities that Indian Motorcycle is known for,” said Reid Wilson, Director of Marketing for Indian Motorcycle. “There’s no doubt the Chieftain Limited has a commanding presence and signature details that make it 100 per cent Indian.”

The main visual changes of the Chieftain Limited compared to a Chieftain include a sawn-off front fender and a new ten-spoke 19″ front wheel and 16″ rear wheel, which quickens up the handling. The front wheel has dual 300mm floating rotors with four piston calipers and an Indian logo embossed on it. There’s also a color-matched headlight bezel and a more streamlined leather saddle to complete the sleeker look.

Along with the Ride Command seven-inch infotainment system and the powerful Thunder Stroke 111 engine, the Chieftain Limited has a keyless ignition, anti-lock brakes (ABS), a 100-watt audio system, chrome front highway bar, a power adjustable windshield, remote locking hard saddlebags and just enough chrome to highlight all that this bike has to offer.

Features Of The Chieftain Limited

Indian Motorcycle’s Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin engine serves up a tasty 135Nm of torque so you can accelerate hard in every gear and have power to spare.
RIDE COMMAND

Pinch. Swipe. Tap. All without removing your gloves. Offering the industry’s largest, fastest, and most customizable infotainment system, the seven-inch Ride Command system allows you to get turn-by-turn directions, quickly navigate top points of interest, play Bluetooth audio, check vehicle information and status, plus a whole lot more via its easy to use interface. And thanks to split- screen technology, you can easily customize three rider screens to display the information that matters to you most.

Premium Audio. Two speakers located in the fairing deliver 100-watts of power at crystal clear quality. Use Ride Command to switch between the AM/FM stereo, Bluetooth or USB input, giving three different ways to listen to music as your ride.

Keyless Ignition. Put the Chieftain Limited key fob in your pocket then just climb on the bike, push the ignition button and ride. If you misplace or lose your fob, use can enter an individual security code pre-programmed into the ignition to start it up.

Stopping Power With Style. The front wheel is adorned with powerful, dual 300mm front rotors with 4-piston calipers. For a custom touch, the caliper housings feature the Indian Motorcycle script logo. Hard Muscle. To Celebrate 50 Years As A Leader Of The Swiss Harley Business With A Limited Edition V-Rod

50 years in business (1967-2017) in Switzerland for the same Harley company, a milestone needing to be celebrated. Father Felix Bächli (born in 1940) started in 1967 as a Harley and US bike seller, then became in 1978 an authorized official dealer. Son Rainer took over in 2002, and is now managing Harley-Davidson Heaven biggest dealership in the Switzerland, selling yearly about 15% of all Harley models in a country where the Milwaukee brand owns more than 26% of the heavyweight motorcycle market share.

A tribute in the form of a custom Harley V-Rod Muscle, although after 15 years of production the V-Rod is going to fade away in 2017. So, why Bächli did decide to pick up a V-Rod model to produce an Anniversary Limited Edition? Simply because it’s one of the preferred Harley models for neighboring Germans and Swiss riders. And not only because the V-rod has a well documented engine connection with Porsche Engineering, but also because the Harley power/cruiser seems conceived specifically for what German and Swiss riders – who are well known for their passion for advanced technology – like to ride. A motorcycle desirable because it’s of American origin, but also one quite revolutionary, not buried in a past era for silhouette and performance… So, an Adieu to the V-Rod 60-degree  V-Twin, but with one done with a BiG Bang, Bächli producing several 50 Years Anniversary limited edition models, variations coming from different paint jobs and of a few accessories.
