It’s one of the most desirable Harley models and if you are looking for one in its original/untouched state, good luck to you during your price negotiation. The Knucklehead (1936-1947) is not only sought after as a motorcycle but also as a stand alone motor. Many very reputable builders that I know are actively looking for the EL, two-cylinder, 45 degree, overhead valve, 61 cubic inch engine to power one of their retro mod projects, and this whatever its condition.
Although relatively new on the custom scene – he created his shop in 2008 but has decades of engineering and racing experience – Uwe Hinger has created some of the most distinctive and stylish vintage motor based motorcycles of these last years. This Knuckle project is a perfect illustration of his skills at reinventing a classic motorcycle to make you love it even more after he is done performing bold styling and re-engineering Continue reading ‘Crafted To Perfection Knucklehead’

This year marks 115 years since George Hendee and Oscar Hedstrom started working together to make Indian motorcycles. In 1897 George Hendee was already manufacturing push bikes with the name ‘American Indian’, but this was shortened to ‘Indian’. Three years later in 1900, Oscar Hedstrom joined the firm. Both Hendee and Hedstrom were former bicycle racers and they decided to build a motorized bicycle to use as a pace bike in cycling races.
A prototype and two production units were built in 1901 and the first Indian motorcycles were sold to the public in 1902. In 1903, Oscar Hedstrom set a world motorcycle speed record of 56 mph and in 1904 the company introduced the deep red paint scheme that would become Indian’s trademark colour. In 1905 Indian built its first V-twin factory racer, putting a road-going version of the motorcycle on sale in 1907.
In 1923 the Indian motorcycles were selling so well that The Hendee Manufacturing Company changed its name to The Indian Motocycle Company – no “r” was used in motocycle when used along with the name Indian – but the “r” has since returned into the modern day name. The madam is surprised that this ordinary looking man has asked for something so outrageous that her two girls will have nothing to do with it.
She decides that only her most experienced lady, Lola, will do. Lola looks a bit tired, but she has never said no and it doesn’t seem likely that anything would surprise her. So the madam sends her over to Bob.

The original EZ-Just prototype was first developed in the 1980’s to eliminate the need for carburetor removal by technicians when making adjustments, and was later adapted when the CV carburetor became the standard on Harleys. The new mixture screw quickly grew in popularity and became known as the EZ-Just 25 years ago.
Adding an EZ-Just mixture screw helps technicians and customers who do their own work quickly make adjustments whenever changing pipes or intakes, often avoiding the need for a complete rejet.
Once installed, a quick turn with your fingers allows you to adjust and fine tune the air idle mixture, giving you better idle control, low speed performance, while eliminating hesitation. This simple to install screw is available for all Constant Velocity CV carburetors used on 1990 – 2006 Harley Big Twin, Twin Cam and all Sportster models from these model years. Special price through Thursday, June 9 is $18.95. At CV Performance.

The new Victory RR electric motorcycle has been developed over the past year using data gathered during last year’s TT Zero and is ridden by William Dunlop. Victory Racing has successfully run its new Victory RR bike in the practice sessions ahead of the TT Zero race, achieving a 115.431 mph lap. He was the fastest through the Grandstand hitting 146.1 mph.
William Dunlop said: “That was really peaceful, it was real nice. Even though I only did one lap last year, I feel much more comfortable riding this new bike. Team manager Brian Weismann said the Victory RR has a new battery with a higher energy density compared to last year as well as an upgraded Parker GVM electric motor with new windings. Subtle changes to the Victory RR bike for this practice included an improvement to the final drive gearing, a pressure change in the Metzeler RaceTec K2 tyres and a front-end suspension tweak by the team at K-Tech Suspension.

After traveling 29,888 miles over 46 days and 15 hours, Swiss endurance rider Urs “Grizzly” Pedraita is well on his way to achieving his quest to set a new world record by circumnavigating six continents in less than 100 riding days.
Grizzly recently departed North Cape (Nordkapp) Norway after completing the European leg of his journey, and is on his way across Russia to the eastern city of Vladivostok. Grizzly rode away from Daytona International Speedway on March 11 flanked by hundreds of owners of Victory motorcycles who joined him to ride one lap of the Daytona 200 road course and escort him out of town for the first part of his journey.
From Daytona Beach, Fla., he traveled 3,971 miles in six days and 14 hours to complete the first leg of the ride in Panama City, Panama. He then continued traveling south 6,269 miles for nine days and 23 hours to reach Ushuaia, Argentina, at the tip of South America. From there, he returned 2,088 miles to Santiago, Chile, loaded his bike onto a plane and transferred to Australia, where he spent six days and five hours riding 4,604 miles west across the continent from Sydney to Perth. Aesthetics may be the first thing attracting us to any custom bike. Doesn’t mean that the builder made it his priority. As a matter of fact, brothers Mert and Can Uzer of Bunker Custon Cycles have for philosophy to always focus first on performance and rideability, then in a second step reshaping the bike to keep all the performance expectations intact.
To squeeze as much performance as possible on this 2014 Triumph Bonneville T100, the shop installed a Power Commander V, K&N open air filters and a free flow Predator exhaust sourced at California Triumph expert British Customs. On the dyno, the Bros got 81 hp after modification versus 68 hp in factory configuration. Bike stance, braking and suspension were the other priorities. Continue reading ‘Custom Triumph Bonneville. Custom motorcycle builders and artists prove beauty isn’t just skin deep in the Skin & Bones Sturgis exhibition curated by Michael Lichter. The one-time “Skin & Bones” motorcycles will be exhibited at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s Russ Brown Events Center (entrance near the east gate) from Sunday August 7 to Friday August 12, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. And the exhibit is FREE.
Creating a custom motorcycle masterpiece worthy of being chosen for this exhibit requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering and aerodynamics, as well as an innate appreciation for style and design. The “skin” of each bike in this exhibit must work flawlessly with its inner “bones.” To that end, builders will expose their personalities to you by lending an added layer of tattoo design to the outside of what already were remarkable machines.
The particularity of this oil filter is to feature an element made from laser cut 304 stainless steel medical grade micronic cloth, not from paper whose property is poor oil filtering and often causung the bypass valve to open and allow unfiltered oil into your engine.
The filter catches items down to 35 microns, which is about 3 times better than most premium traditional oil filters.c Consistent flow under all conditions including extreme heat, presence of water, and cold start-ups. It is reusable, just cleaning it. $169.85. For 84-15 Sportsters and Big Twins. At Arlen Ness.
The Barnett “Low Profile” Lock-up Pressure Plate for 1998-15 Harley Davidson Big Twins (except 2013-16 CVO/SE & 2015-16 FLHTC L) is specifically designed to fit under stock or aftermarket primary and derby covers and increases the capacity of your stock clutch while keeping lever effort to a minimum, even with big inch motors!
It’s done by using stainless steel weighted arms that progressively increase pressure to the clutch as RPM’s increase. Three different sets of six coil springs (light, medium, heavy) are included for a variety of spring pressure options. The coil spring design also provides smoother shifting and a more linear engagement compared to a diaphragm type spring. Your pet is your partner for life. But it can be dangerous and even illegal to transport it on your 2-wheeler depending how you do it. A startup company is offering a hard pet carrier to transport it safely, anytime, anywhere. The Pet On Wheel (POW) is not larger than a single-helmet top case. By strapping the top holder with the seat belt, the Pet On Wheels can be used on your motorcycle, either positioned facing to the front or to the rear.
Inside the POW, the pet can relax comfortably on the included pillow, as two intakes provide fresh air while on the move. In the center of the pivoting lid a large hole with a sliding cover allows for the four-legged passenger to sit up with its head out of the carrier – dogs will probably enjoy this feature the most. An adjustable leash that attaches to the inside of the POW ensures that no one jumps out during the journey. More info at Kickstarter POW.
