A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates: “You may visit this store but ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increases as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!”
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 – These men Have Jobs. She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads: Floor 2 – These men Have Jobs and Love Kids. “That’s nice’” she thinks, “but I want more.”
So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads: Floor 3 – These men have Jobs, love Kids, and are extremely Good Looking. “Wow”. she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads: Floor 4 – These men have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework. “Oh, mercy me!” she exclaims, “I can hardly stand it!” Continue reading ‘Joke Of The Week’

Custom Harley-Davidson WLJ By Hard Nine Choppers
Published by February 1st, 2016 in Builders, Customs and Editorial.Building and riding the wild custom bikes you build in Switzerland is not an easy gig. Cops know very well what you should never roll in the streets of the Helvetic Confederation. In Bern, the seat of the federal authorities, it doesn’t prevent Danny Schneider from Hard Nine Choppers to be very creative at taking old vintage parts to turn them into contraptions with a purpose which is not exactly what the bikes have been originally intended for.
All stories behind each of Schneider’s builds are unusual. In this case, he met at a local bike show a cousin he didn’t see during the previous 20 years. He found out that his relative was collecting and restoring old British cars and also owned 2 old bikes, one of them being a 1951 Harley WLJ. Schneider convinced his cousin to let him work on the Flatty and obtained from him the agreement of building whatever he wanted. A dream briefing for any custom builder… Continue reading ‘Custom Harley-Davidson WLJ By Hard Nine Choppers’

Published by January 30th, 2016 in Builders, Controls, Driveline and Editorial.Harley-Davidson President And CEO Matt Levatich About Indian Motorcycle. During the 4th quarter earnings call on January 28, Matt Levatich, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson, made the following statement in an interview with financial magazine The Street: “We respect Indian, they have sold motorcycles in the U.S. that didn’t exist a few years ago. Our belief is that some Harley-Davidson sales went to Indian, but every other bike manufacturer lost sales to Indian, too. This isn’t a one-shot deal. And Indian is only in the range of mid-single digit percentage market share, we are at 50%. This is not some sky is falling fear at all. It’s respect. It’s great for Harley-Davidson and the industry — it spurs us to raise our game. And guess what we are doing, we are raising our game. Bring it on. We don’t like to lose.”

Former OCC Building To Be Auctioned March 9, 2016. Paul Teutul Sr Facing 1.4 Million Lawsuit.
Published by January 29th, 2016 in Builders, Customs, Editorial and Events. The well known property in the town of Newburgh, New York where Orange County Choppers was building its customized motorcycles will be auctioned on 3/9/2016 at 10:00 AM PST. Starting bid is $900,000 for all the real estate valued at 13 million.
OCC surrendered the building that holds its custom-made motorcycles in 2011 to its lender, which then sold it to a Dallas, Texas-based company. Paul Teutul Sr. says his company has leased the space and that the auction won’t impact its business.
A bankruptcy trustee representing a subsidiary of Orange County Choppers is suing the parent company and its owner, Paul Teutul Sr., to recover 1.4 million he says was fraudulently transferred from the subsidiary at the behest of and for the benefit of the defendants. Explanation of the lawsuit after the jump.
The OCC building sitting on approximately 1 acre of land is as famous as Paul Teutul Sr and Paul Teutul Jr who became instant celebrities when they were featured in 2002 in the TV reality show American Chopper on the Discovery Channel, continued in 2007 on sister channel TLC, to end on the CMT network in 2013. In one way this auction symbolizes the end of an era of TV (non)reality motorcycle shows supported by the public at large but intensely criticized by the majority of custom industry professionals.
The facts of the case go back to the mid-2000s, when the debtor, formerly called Orange County Choppers Merchandising and now called Hudson Valley Merchandising, licensed trademarks, copyrights, logos and likenesses of Orange County Choppers to various companies for merchandising items such as T-shirts, hats, party goods, cake decorations and other consumer products. At the time, the lawsuit says, Orange County Choppers, the Town of Newburgh-based builder of custom chopper-type motorcycles, owned 20 separate Choppers-styled entities. Harley-Davidson. Fourth Quarter And Full-Year 2015 Results. Profits Fall On Lower Sales.
Published by January 28th, 2016 in Builders, Editorial and Events.Throughout 2015, Harley-Davidson retail motorcycle sales were adversely affected by heightened competitive pressures including those arising from shifts in world currencies. Harley-Davidson Inc reported a 43.3 percent fall in quarterly profit, hurt by weak demand in the United States, its biggest market. The Milwaukee-based company said its net income fell to $42.2 million, 22 cents per share, in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, from $74.5 million, or 35 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue slipped 2.3 percent to $1.01 billion.
Retail Motorcycle Sales Highlights: In the fourth quarter, Harley-Davidson’s U.S. market share was 51.4 percent in the 601cc-plus category, flat compared to the year ago period. “Our U.S. market share stabilized as we began to ramp up marketing investment, and as we lapped the initial impact of heightened competitiveness and price discounting that began late in the fourth quarter of 2014,” said Levatich.
Retail Harley-Davidson motorcycle sales are down in the US 3.4% in 4th quarter and 1,7% for full year 2015. Sales in Canada grew 12.3 percent in the quarter, following the company’s move to direct distribution in the market. The Asia Pacific region had its best year ever for dealer sales of new Harley-Davidson motorcycles. For the full year 2015, worldwide Harley-Davidson sales were down 1.3%. But Harley remains number one in market share in the 601cc-plus segment in the U.S., Canada, Australia, India and Japan. Continue reading ‘Harley-Davidson. Fourth Quarter And Full-Year 2015 Results. Motorcycle Riding Humanoid Wants To Race Faster Than Any Racer
Published by January 24th, 2016 in Builders, Editorial and Videos.“I was created to surpass you” says the MotoBot. At the Las Vegas CES, the yearly world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, Yamaha unveiled its latest R&D tool to improve the performance of its motorcycles. The motorcycle-riding robot is challenging the best racers to set new speed records. For example, can the MotoBot beat the lap times of an exceptional champion like Valentino Rossi? Can GPS, CPU’s, sensors, etc calculate new dynamics and surpass the brain capabilities of racing champions accustomed to hair-raising flirts with the upper limit of speed and edge of physics?
The MotoBot is able to operate the six basic functions of a motorcycle: throttling, steering, clutching, gear shifting, front and rear braking. The robot’s brain autonomously calculates the right speed, optimal rpm, lean angle, acceleration, best lines to take around a track. For now, maximum speed is only about 60 mph (100 km/h), but when this humanoid will reach and surpass champions’ speed Yamaha expects to be able to find new ways to improve its motorcycles. So, humans learning from a robot or the opposite?
