Harley-Davidson Cutting Jobs. As previously announced by Harley-Davidson, the manufacturer started laying off about 250 Milwaukee salaried employees belonging to all types of position in all departments. Some of them will receive early retirement packages. The process should be completed by the end of December.

Elio Motors Is Seeking $25 million Through Stock Offering. Goes Public Under Reg A+. Paul Elio, CEO of Elio Motors is trying to raise $25 million for a 2016 production launch of an innovative, enclosed, three-wheel vehicle (84 MPG with a targeted $6,800 base price) iThe company recently introduced its next generation prototype, the P5 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Elio Motors is stating that more than 47,000 people have reserved a spot in line to purchase the 3-wheel vehicle when it goes to production. The Petersen Museum Reopened. After 14 months of renovation costing $90 millions, the Los Angeles Petersen Automobile Museum reopened on December 7th. Exhibition floor is now about 12,000 sq. ft. in multiple galleries in which are displayed 100 automobiles and 25 motorcycles representative of each decade of automotive history. Ducati Scrambler Italia Independent Limited Edition

Unveiled last week during Art Basel Miami, North America’s foremost international modern and contemporary art fair. This limited edition Café Racer-inspired Scrambler is a collaboration between Ducati and Italia Independent, a large retailer selling sunglasses and clothing.

The Ducati Scrambler specs (L-Twin EFI 803 cc compression 11-1), 6-speed) are unchanged, but this unique edition features very nice details. A blacked-out engine with polished fins, Night Copper (a color designed specifically for this model) alloy 10-spoke wheels, a short front fender, a Termignoni full black exhaust, Night Copper aluminum side panels, a custom leather seat, end- of-bar grip mirrors, Italia Independent logo featured on both sides of the tank, an aluminum plate with laser etching of each unit’s serial number.

Christmas Gift For Biking Kids

Most kids want to make their bicycles sound like a motorcycle. We use to achieve this with the “baseball-card-in-the-spokes” system. The Turbospoke Exhaust System updates this concept. It has the look of a real motorcycle pipe and makes engine sounds.

The sound start as soon as the wheels turns and changes as the speed does. No battery, it’s 100% pedal powered. The sounds are created by a thin plastic “Motocar” held against the spokes of the rear wheel.

Custom Mania At 11th Germany Custombike Show. Postcards (December 4-6) Part 1

Last weekend December 4-6 was held the 11th edition of the Custombike Show organized by Huber Vermlag Gmbh & Co, publisher of European magazine CustomBike in Bad Salzuflen, Germany. A first opportunity to gauge the state of the European custom motorcycle scene before we enter 2016. An attendance of 30,000 visitors came to admire about 300 custom bikes, to check out the products of 800 exhibitors and the new models of mc manufacturers, some never present at the former shows like MV Augusta. During 3 days an on-stage build-off competition between Belorussian Juri Shif and German Müller Motorcycles (the teams exchanged and drunk alcohol of unknown origin during the builds…) and on Sunday the bike show winners being called on stage. I will feature some of the best bikes in the coming weeks.

2016 Moto Guzzi V7 Stornello Scrambler Unveiled

Another Scrambler type motorcycle? As a matter of fact, Moto Guzzi did manufacture its first Scramblers 50 years ago. The 2016 Moto Guzzi Stornello Scrambler is offered as a 2016 model year, but in a limited and numbered edition. Introduced at the Milan EICMA show, it is a factory special with a paint job reminiscent of the 1972 white/red Stornello 125 Scrambler and some interesting features listed after the jump. As a 8-year breast cancer survivor Debbie McFarlane knows tomorrow isn’t promised. She has learned that life is too short not to try new things.

A few years ago she purchased her very own Sportster with plans to ride with her Harley riding son. After completing the motorcycle safety course she set out to conquer riding her own.

After spending some time in the parking lot she felt she needed to make some changes so the bike could fit her better. Her custom shop Urban Custom Bikes (Jeremy & Jessica Ruse) made a few tweaks & changes, then Debbie developed a case of chrome addiction. But also in response to the fast pace of our times, to the impersonal interactions of our digital world, and to a tougher world making us think about the good old days…Nostalgia for the oldest. need for self expression for the youngest who heard about the glorious days of motorcycling and racing.

Bringing back to life the old and the vintage require specific skills owned by some professional builders. Building new bikes inspired by classic designs is more open, shared between pros and backyard builders. LeMans Corporation, Parent Of Drag Specialties And Parts Unlimited, Settles With CARB (California Air Resources Board).

LeMans Corp (Drag Specialties, Parts Unlimited, Parts Canada, Parts Europe) settles with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regarding the distribution of emissions-regulated products to dealers in that state.

The settlement agreement resolves CARB’s alleged claims without litigation, protects LeMans’ California dealers regarding sales of the listed parts LeMans sold to them through Oct. 1, 2015, and allows LeMans to move forward with its revised compliance plan. CARB believes a disclaimer in an advertisement does not provide protection from enforcement when it comes to the sale of emissions-related parts.

CARB sought enforcement to numerous product categories, including exhaust products, catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, fuel and air controller modules, carburetor parts (such as jet kits that modify the air/fuel flow), cam modifications, O2 eliminators and air cleaner filter kits. Jerry W. Cole Named Sturgis Rally & Events Director

Jerry W. Cole has been named the Sturgis Rally & Events Director. Mr. Cole was selected after an extensive recruitment and selection process that received interest from many highly qualified and experienced applicants with local, regional, national and even international experience. Mr. Cole’s professional career encompasses both municipal and not-for-profit organizations with an emphasis on events planning and promotion, tourism marketing, parks and recreation management, and sponsorship solicitation.

Mr. Cole is currently the Executive Director for the Dickinson (ND) Chamber of Commerce. Prior to that, he served almost two years as the Executive Director of the Hill City Area Chamber of Commerce. In that capacity, he oversaw the Chamber’s various tourism events, including the Hill City Wine, Brew & BBQ, Logging Show and Art Extravaganza. Mr. Cole was also the first Director of the Parks & Recreation Department with the City of Rapid City, serving from 2004 to 2012. During that time, he was the founding Event Director for the Black Hills Fat Tire Festival with attendees coming from 17 states and 5 different countries. David Beckham’s Custom Triumph Bonneville

David Beckham, the English professional footballer (soccer player) is a legend of his sport, and since he retired in 2013 he can enjoy his passion for motorcycles. (By the way, it is rumored that he could be the next James Bond…)

He already owns several customs, that he rides, the most recent being this Triumph Bonneville customized by the English bikes shop experts at British Customs.

The result is a modern classic that you can enjoy anytime you want some fun riding around town or in the country. British Customs will not duplicate the same bike for you but will gladly sell you all the proprietary custom parts they used for Beckham.

Renewable Fuel Standard A Risk To Motorcycles

Highlights From a PR From AMA. The American Motorcyclist Association reported this week that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released its Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volume requirements. The new standard mandates widespread availability of higher-ethanol fuel blends, such as E15, which increase the risk of misfueling for motorcycles and all-terrain-vehicles. As you might be aware, higher-ethanol fuels have a laundry list of performance and mechanical issues associated with it. In 2014, the EPA set the RFS at 16.28 billion gallons. In 2015, that number climbed to 16.93 billion gallons. However, in 2016 the total will now be raised to 18.11 billion gallons.

Wayne Allard, AMA VP of Government Relations says: “We are extremely disappointed that the EPA bowed to pressure from the ethanol industry and agreed to foist more ethanol onto the backs of American consumers. Any increase in the amount of ethanol required in our fuel supply, coupled with America’s decreasing demand for gasoline, is going to result in higher-ethanol blends, such as E15, at more pumps and stations. A dog lover, whose dog was a female and “in heat’, agreed to look after her neighbor’s male dog while the neighbors were on vacation. She had a large house and believed that she could keep the two dogs apart.

However, as she was drifting off to sleep she heard awful howling and moaning sounds, rushed downstairs and found the dogs locked together in obvious pain and unable to disengage, as so frequently happens when dogs mate. Unable to separate them, and perplexed as to what to do next, although it was late, she called the vet, who answered in a very grumpy voice.

Having had the problem explained to him, the vet said, “Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs. I will then call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he will be able to withdraw.”

Do you really think that will work?” she asked. “Just worked for me,” he replied.

Staggered Longtails for Indian Scout

I am not sure there is any manufacturer left not proposing a set of custom exhaust for the very successful Indian Scout. Samson’s all new Staggered Longtail slip-on mufflers are ready to rumble your Scout.

Of course, the company states a significant gain in horsepower and torque, but no chart being provided to me, I will not announce a number.

The top muffler has an 1 7/8 inch inlet with 2 1/4 inch O.D. muffler body 20 1/2 inches long. The bottom muffler has the same O.D. and inlet with a 27 inch muffler body.

Both mufflers come equipped with a removable Samson universal Longtail tip, and Samson’s A-118 high performance baffles (1 3/4 inch baffle for 2 1/4 pipe). Any 10″ long Samson baffle designed & manufactured for use in 2 1/4 inch pipe can be used for custom sound tuning. Samson USA.

Deus Ex Machina Modding A 1966 Plymouth Barracuda

You know Deus Ex Machina for their custom motorcycles. From a 2-wheeler to a 4wheeler the difference is the size of modding you need to accomplish. Built and owned by Matt Hart, a guy who grew up with Mopar music ringing in his hears, this 1966 Plymouth Barracuda got 480 hp on a 4-speed manual tranny. Ready to race? Man Loses In Appeal Lawsuit Claiming BMW Motorcycle Gave Him An Extended Erection. Looks like BMW is not the most exciting brand. BMW has triumphed over a lawsuit claiming one of their bikes left a man with a 2 day long erection. The biker in question claimed an acute case of priapism, or painfully prolonged erection, due to the seat vibrations. He sued both BMW and seat maker Corbin asking for damages due to negligence and infliction of emotional distress. The biker lost his case but decided to appeal. Big mistake. A 14-page decision full of medical references states that the biker failed ton demonstrate any new intelligible argument and failed to comply with the rules of appellate procedure by failing to cite the relevant cases or statutes, The panel ordered Wolf to pay the defendants’ costs on appeal, a sum likely to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Harley-Davidson York Plant Employees Approve New Labor Agreement. Harley-Davidson employees at its York, Pa., motorcycle assembly operations, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 175, voted to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement with the Company, effective Feb. 1, 2016 through Oct. 15, 2022. The agreement, which covers approximately 970 employees at York, succeeds the current agreement, which was originally scheduled to expire in February 2017. The agreement includes wage increases in each year of the contract and maintains the Company’s flexible manufacturing model to be responsive to customers demand.

Polaris Industries Recalls Slingshot Motorcycles For Headlight Relay Defect. The headlight relay may fail, resulting in a loss of headlights which can reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Polaris is recalling 9,182 model year 2015-2016 Slingshot motorcycles manufactured April 21, 2014, to October 22, 2015, Slingshot SL motorcycles manufactured April 28, 2015 to October 23, 2015, and Slingshot SL SE motorcycles manufactured December 15, 2014, to October 22, 2015. Polaris will notify owners, and dealers will replace the single headlight relay with a circuit that uses two headlight relays, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 4, 2015. The carabineer-style, pocket-size lock fits through a helmet D-ring and around most any handlebar or engine guard and has a resettable four-digit code. The aluminum-and-zinc alloy carabineer is covered with a durable rubber coating to protect the surrounding finishes. The Security Cable can be passed through a jacket sleeve, helmet D-ring, or luggage and secured to a motorcycle with the lock. TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE AND FILL VALVE
A great addition to the home shop, the Tire Pressure Gauge and Fill Valve (P/N 12700096, $79.95) allows a rider to check air pressure and fill the tire without removing the chuck valve.
