Custom Bagger Monstruosity Being Built For “The Biker Battleground Phoenix” TV Reality Show.

Sorry to ruin your day. You are looking at the custom bagger being built by Kody McNew from Voodoo Bikeworks for the TV reality show Biker Battleground Phoenix. How somebody can do this to a motorcycle is beyond my understanding. Exactly what is wrong with the excesses of the Bagger craze. Remember my yearly 2014 predictions where I wrote that extreme custom baggers would reach very soon the peak of non-sense and bad taste before builders and owners come back to more reasonable riding machines. Ross Tomas, Son Of Mike And Carolyn Tomas From Kiwi Indian In Fatal Motorcycle Accident

I am heartbroken to have to announce that Ross Tomas, the 20-year old son of friends of the industry Mike and Carolyn Tomas from Kiwi Indian, passed away yesterday evening Wednesday July 22, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was wearing a helmet. Ross had an inherited passion for motorcycles and I saw him successfully race in Bonneville when he was only 16 years old.

At this time, his parents and family request privacy. Service and other details will be announced soon. My thoughts and prayers for Mike & Carolyn and my condolences to all his family and friends.

Bikini Bike Wash. The 2014 Sturgis Commemorative Painting By David Uhl.

Since 2005, David has created a special piece for Sturgis every year. He continues that tradition this year with “Bikini Bike Wash”. His latest masterpiece features bike builder Matt Olsen and his wife Brittney. Matt is astride his ’39 Knucklehead bobber “Dottie” (now owned by Pat Simmons and Cris Sommer-Simmons) Bikini Bike Washes are a fixture at rally time, and the unmistakeable Black Hills backdrop stamps this as a true Sturgis scene from days gone by.

Polaris Second Quarter 2014 Results. EPS Increased 26%, Net Income Increases 21%. Motorcycles Division Increased 107% Versus Same Period.

Shares of Polaris (PII) jumped more than 5% in pre-market trading after the company announced its second quarter results and increased its full year guidance for year 2014.

Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE:PII) today reported record second quarter net income of $96.9 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2014, up 21 percent from the prior year’s second quarter net income of $80.0 million. Earnings per share were also a record at $1.42 per diluted share for the 2014 second quarter compared to $1.13 for the second quarter of 2013. Sales for the second quarter 2014 totaled a record $1,014.0 million, an increase of 20 percent over last year’s second quarter sales of $844.8 million. Company increases full year 2014 Sales and EPS guidance. Full year 2014 sales are now expected to grow in the range of 16 percent to 18 percent when compared to 2013.

Scott Wine, Polaris’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “The second quarter results, our 19th consecutive quarter of record earnings performance, exemplify our commitment to delivering high quality innovative products and a first-class purchase experience that our consumers expect. Our strong financial performance in the quarter was driven by outstanding retail sales growth, up 15 percent in North America, driven by share gains in our side-by-side vehicle product line and continued growth of our Indian motorcycle business. The recently introduced Sportsman ACE( further solidifies our #1 market share position in the North American ORV market and our Small Vehicle and PG&A businesses delivered impressive growth, up 29 percent and 20 percent year-over-year in the second quarter, respectively.”

Wine continued, “On the heels of last year’s new product launch, which was lauded to be the largest and most groundbreaking in our Company’s history, next week we will celebrate our 60th anniversary and further enhance our innovation profile with the unveiling of our model year 2015 products for ORVs, motorcycles and the much anticipated Slingshot vehicle. Between strong demand for our existing offerings and our industry leading product innovation, we believe sales and earnings will continue to accelerate in the second half of the year, supporting our confidence and decision to again raise full year sales and earnings guidance for 2014.”

Sales for the Motorcycles division increased 107 percent to $103.1 million in the 2014 second quarter compared to same period last year due to continued strong demand for the new model year 2014 Indian motorcycles. Consumer retail demand for Polaris motorcycles, driven by Indian Motorcycle retail sales, was up approximately 50 percent during the 2014 second quarter, while second quarter North American industry heavyweight cruiser and touring motorcycle retail sales were about flat versus the 2013 second quarter. The re-launch of Indian Motorcycle continued during the 2014 second quarter as additional dealers began retailing the bikes and awareness of the brand’s revival continued to gain momentum in the motorcycle community. Victory retail sales in the 2014 second quarter were down mid-single digits percent largely due to a product recall in May, but Polaris is encouraged by its performance of market share gains in April and June. Sales of Polaris motorcycles outside of North America almost doubled in the second quarter of 2014 as compared to the year-ago period driven by strong retail demand for Indian motorcycles. Harley-Davidson Posts Upbeat Second 2014 Quarter Earnings. Lowers Full-year Shipment Guidance.

Shares of Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG) tumbled more than 2% in pre-market trading after the company cut its motorcycle shipments forecast for the full year.

Harley-Davidson posted its quarterly earnings of $354.2 million, or $1.62 per share, versus $271.7 million, or $1.21 per share, in the year-ago period. Its EPS surged 33.9% to $1.62 in the quarter. Its revenue climbed to $2.0 billion from $1.79 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.46 per share on revenue of $1.834 billion.

Harley-Davidson’s dealers worldwide sold 90,218 motorcycles in the period, compared to 90,193 units in the year-earlier period. US sales fell to 58,225 units, versus 58,241 units. In international markets, dealers sold 31,993 new motorcycles, versus 31,952 motorcycles.

Harley-Davidson’s revenue from motorcycles climbed 16.2% to $1.48 billion, while revenue from motorcycle parts and accessories rose 0.7% to $271.6 million. Revenue from general merchandise declined 6.5% to $76.4 million.

Harley-Davidson, Inc. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Keith Wandell said, “Harley-Davidson’s second-quarter results reflect the financial strength of the Company and brand, including the benefits of continuous improvement throughout our operation.” Harley-Davidson shares fell 2.36% to $65.50 in pre-market trading.

Only an Italian can build a custom motorcycle to pay tribute to a Roman goddess. Minerva, the goddess was born from Jupiter. Minerva, the bike featured here, is reborn from a 1971 Ducati Mark III 250 bought by Simone Ceccarelli from a collector. Ceccarelli is a semi professional builder whose name in not unknown since he collaborated with Abnormal Cycles on the now internationally famous Union Flathead sidecar.

The top trees are machined and feature 1/2” riser mount holes distanced 3-1/2″ apart to allow the use of traditional Harley-Davidson style risers. The top-tree mounts are the same dimension as the early Harley-Davidson Springer front end, permitting the use of standard after-market top clamps including dog-bone type triple clamps and integrated handlebar systems. Top trees can be ordered with top trees mounted with the riser holes forward or rearward allowing placement options for the end user. This Sturgis Rally destination is home to multiple bars, nearly continuous live music on the Jägermeister Stage, dozens of world-class vendors, and a host of epic events, entertainment and attractions only available at the Buffalo Chip. “The CrossRoads will be the place to find some of the most beautiful and powerful motorcycles on the planet,” said Rod Woodruff. “All the new bike shows offer people the opportunity to see amazing customs in one place while enjoying the many new attractions we’ve added this year.”

There will be multiple opportunities to ogle hundreds of unique bikes on display Sunday, Aug. 3 through Thursday, Aug. 7 with six distinct bike shows. The “Winner Takes All” series of bike shows, presented by Sailor Jerry, start off the lineup of shows by offering the winner a $5,000 cash prize, and bike enthusiasts the opportunity to see some amazing custom creations. Baggers Magazine kicks it off on Sunday, Aug. 3, followed by Street Chopper Magazine Show on Monday, Aug. 4, Hot Bike Magazine/Top Builder Competition Show on Tuesday, Aug. 5 and Cycle Source Magazine’s Grease and Gears Bike Show Wednesday, Aug. 6. The king of all custom shows, The Rat’s Hole Custom Chopper Show, will cap the week of shows on Thursday, Aug. 7.

CrossRoads guests will have the opportunity to take free demo rides on brand-new 2015 Victory Motorcycle models on the Chip’s newly paved roads and register for the chance to win the Buffalo Chip’s 2014 Sturgis Rider® Sweepstakes, a Cory-Ness-customized Victory Cross Country 8-Ball and matching Les Paul Studio Epiphone guitar. RFA will fill riders’ motorcycle tanks for free with 93 octane E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gasoline) and answer any questions about which blends of ethanol can be used in motorcycles and other engines. “Why I ride” (no relation with the recent documentary “Why We Ride” is a new online video series featuring bikers from across the country explaining their thrill for riding.

In this segment, a young woman named Leslie Padoll from Brooklyn, NY, despite gender stereotypes and other social challenges, has found solace in riding her motorcycle.

With the inspiration and confidence gained from her experiences on the road she was able to overcome her own personal obstacles. She tells her story…

In Sturgis Jesse James Will Trade Two Wheels For Four To Race The Off Road Championship At The Buffalo Chip

As announced on June 26, Motorsports fans will get more than their fair share of extreme engines, insane speed and colossal crashes at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s newly constructed PowerSports Complex this August. The Sturgis Rally entertainment destination has planned a jam-packed week of high-powered competition including TORC (The Off Road Championship), the Nitro National Pro Hill Climb, AMA Extreme Dirt Track ATV Races and Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pulls.,

On Aug. 5-6 at The Legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, S.D., James will trade two wheels for four and compete in the nation’s premiere off-road truck racing series, TORC The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL. James is no stranger to off-road racing and has competed in both desert and short-course off-road racing. He feels TORC is building the foundation for something very special in Sturgis by bringing the series to race at The Chip during the Rally.

“I feel like I have a pretty good pulse on that place (Sturgis) and no one’s ever done anything like what TORC is doing,” he said. “Everybody else is like ‘How are we going to make money off the bikers? How are we going to take their money? But TORC is coming in with ‘How are we going to entertain these dudes?’ Short-course off-road racing is full-out entertainment. You get a lot for your money.
