Published by October 7th, 2009 in Chassis, Customs and Editorial.I was a little bit in shock when Don Baumunk, Founder and President of Fat Katz sent me this evening the following email. Most of you have a tendency to think that all businesses for sale are the consequence of our economic recession. Not so. A lot of us are close to or reaching retirement age…And like anyone, if we can financially retire, why not? There is a lot of discussion about the aging of bikers and the problem it creates for our OEM and after-market industry. But we forget – sometimes it’s better this way- that we all aged at the same speed… Continue reading ‘Fat Katz Gas Tankz And Fenderz Is For Sale’

Canada based MotoXcycle is already well known in the industry for its production or one-off handcrafted oil tanks. But none were offered copper plated. Observing that a lot of custom builders have entered the “copper age”, Fausto Simoes just produced a new limited edition of its famous deep finned oval oil tank. Sides are CNC machined from solid steel, and all the tank is highly polished before receiving the copper treatment. Will fit stock Harley Evo or Twin Cam bikes and of course any custom. With or without battery box. Of course, you can still order the raw, chrome plated or powder coated (almost any color) versions. Not a cheap China cracking bag, but a very high quality piece. Call on by behalf Fausto at 450-201-0787. MotoXcycle Inc.
“Cyril, I’m pleased to announce that I have released my second single 2 Wheels Move the Soul, written by me and my friend, blues artist Trevor Finlay. This new song is the follow-up to the first single that I released earlier in the summer called Ridelicious.
I didn’t wait for any record company. I’m doing this all the nitty gritty biker chick way. Like a road gypsy riding and camping her way across the country on a passion trip with no particular destination, just doing it because I LOVE to and I MUSt It’s like breathing. The art of writing, music and riding is breathing to me. It’s life. No matter what, I’m giving my dreams free spirited life. Continue reading ‘2 Wheels Move The Soul. The Song.’

Custom Pushrod Covers For Your Engine
Published by October 6th, 2009 in Customs, Editorial and Engines.A company called Weslin Industries just launched a line of custom Pushrod Wraps to customize your original pushrod covers. I didn’t try them and wonder how good they hold with engine heat. If they stay in place, don’t burn, don’t discolor, maybe they are worth a try on your next project. There is no need to take your motor apart to get this custom look. They seem to be an easy and less expensive way to get a custom dimensional look over the original chrome covers. They come in different designs, custom colors and can be trimmed with scissors for an exact fit. The Cloverleaf Pushrod Wraps are anodized with gold leaf. The Hexagonal and Union Jack Wraps are powder coated with standard colors black, red and blue. The solid Pushrod Wrap is polished gold mylar. Ask questions on my behalf to Steve Mueller at Weslin Industries.
As you already know I am a Converse addict and love the shoes private line designed by John Varvatos for this company, all priced under $80.00. Then I received this picture of a new Hi-Tops model that John Varvatos is selling direct. Love at first sight till’ I read the price. $250.00. I understand that John Varvatos has big bills at his fabulous 315 Bowery, New york, NY store installed in the location of former iconic rock club CBGB (hope you have been there during its 30-year run). Every year there is a study made by Interbrand Agency and published by Fortune Magazine to rank the valuation of the 100 “Best Global Brands” in the world. Interbrand rates the companies that run businesses on at least 3 continents. Because the state of the “word economy” worsened in 2008, the overall value of these 100 brands declined by 4.6%. Among all losers Harley-Davidson experienced the biggest fall in value, down a whopping 43% or 4.34 billion due to the 66% drop in the company profits in 2 quarters of year 2008. Among other automotive losers, Lexus lost 12% , Ford lost 11%, Toyota, Volkswagen and Porsche lost 8%, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda and Audi lost 7% each. General Motors and Chrysler Group LLC did not even make the list in the top 100 brands in the world! (graphic is for illustration only and doesn’t reflect Harley-Davidson brand value over time)
Indian motorcycles are alive. As new models produced in Kings Mountain, NC. As restorations in sheds and barns all over the world. As replica models like this 1930’s style Indian Chief built by Mike “Kiwi” Tomas in his Riverside, CA shop. As you all know now Mike devotes his business (and personal) life to reproducing high quality Indian parts and engines to give you the opportunity to ride a new model looking like the Springfield originals but with today’s reliability. As a matter of fact Mike let you choose among almost unlimited options at one condition, that it looks like a pure Indian. This one was built in-house on their proprietary frame, Kiwi Flathead 84″ engine, 4-speed transmission, leaf spring front end and rolls on 18″ wheels. Last time I saw it it was 1 month ago in Bonneville, turned into a side-car, with Mike and wife spinning on the Salts to salute the Indian Gods. At Kiwi Indian. (pictures by HRF)

Italian design. You don’t explain. You just watch and admire it. Travel there to understand…
Modern with a vintage inspiration, these hand controls mixing aluminum and brass have ergonomic details like a rib on top of the lever for a better and more comfortable grip and exquisite hardware details difficult to show you on this picture. But if you want a set, beauty has a big price, especially after you make the conversion from Euros to devaluated US Dollars. Get the bad news yourself after you visit Kustomtech Italy.

This trike is registered as a car because it is built from a front wheel drive Ford car.
Pretty ingenious…for registration. I guess the “car” insurance premium was cut in half, too.

Santiago Chopper’s Believe It Or Not Custom Bike. $1500
Published by October 2nd, 2009 in Builders, Customs and Editorial.Good cooks have a special talent to improvise last minute yummy recipes using only left overs. Good motorcycle builders do the same with spare parts laying around the shop or garage. If it was possible to control the true cost of recycled parts used to build a custom bike, I would organize a bike show to elect the best of the cheapest custom motorcycles built from the ground up. Let’s say, under $5000.00. Continue reading ‘Santiago Chopper’s Believe It Or Not Custom Bike. $1500′
