Breaking News. Ex Titan Motorcycles Don Proudfoot Shot To Death.

Donald A. Proudfoot, ex-owner of Titan Motorcycles (second era), was shot in the head and killed this Monday morning in his girlfriend’s home near Anthem (north Phoenix), Arizona. His girlfriend Hope Smith was not injured and called 911 at 4.30 AM. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is still investigating the shooting in the 300 block of West Irvine Road. The Sheriff’s Office said it was not clear if the incident was a home invasion. At this point, Hope Smith is not a suspect and nobody has been taken into custody. In July 2004, Barack Obama took delivery of this 2005 Chrysler 300c from Park Plaza Dodge in Forest Park, Illinois. In 2007, Obama swapped his Chrysler sedan for a Ford Escape Hybrid at Hawk Ford in Oak Lawn, IL. Hawk Ford then transfered the 300C back to Park Plaza Dodge. Thanks to Art Welch, I discovered this unique streamlined and modified version of the Megola. Started in 1935 by a group of five German engineers from Munich naming themselves themselves ‘Killinger and Freund”, it took 3 years to complete it. And amazingly, this custom motorcycle is a 3- cylinder two-stroke engine built right into the front wheel! This design was intended for civilian production but the start of World War II cancelled those plans. One motorcycle was discovered by the US Army in the spring of 1945 at a German military installation. Read HERE the full story

Strokers Dallas Raises $32,000 For Children Hospital

Each time we go through a depressed economy, it’s not only dificult to make money, but even more difficult to raise money for any charity. So, kudos to rick Fairless at Strokers Dallas for succeeding in raising $32,000 for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC). This fund raising is a joint effort by Strokers Dallas and Miller Lite. Both companies teamed up to secure a 105th Anniversary Harley-Davidson, Softail motorcycle, then Rick Fairless and crew turned it into a “Dallas Cowboys” approved theme ride. Strokers Dallas sold tickets online to win the motorcycle, at road shows and motorcycle rallies, and in their dealership for as little as $10 each. The lucky winner is Steve Stanfield of Henderson, Texas, who bought his 5 tickets online.

This morning at 9 AM, J.D. Power and Associates released the results of its 2008 Motorcycle Shopper Study. This study analyzes the reasons consumers consider a particular motorcycle brand but ultimately purchase a different brand. The inaugural study, finds that 51 percent of new-motorcycle shoppers cite dealer-related issues as a reason for rejecting a motorcycle brand. One of the primary dealer-related issues for rejecting a brand is the inability to test ride a bike, which was mentioned by one-fourth of shoppers as a reason for rejection, while 7 percent of shoppers indicate that the inability to test ride was the most influential reason for not purchasing a particular motorcycle brand. In addition, 18 percent of shoppers rejected a motorcycle because it was not available at the dealership, while the perception of being able to receive better service at another dealership is mentioned by 15 percent of shoppers as a reason for rejection. These models have a fuel tank vent tube which may have been produced with a defective ultrasonic weld on the anti-slosh valve. If the valve separates and the bike is tipped over, it may leak fuel. Fuel leakage in the presece of an ignition source could result in a fire. Dealers will inspect the fuel vent assembly and, if necessary, replace it.
