Joke Of The Week

cyril-huze-joke44 - CopyAn old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic. He put a sign up outside that said: “Dr. Geezer’s clinic. Get your treatment for $500, if not cured, get back $1,000.” Doctor “Young,” who was positive that this old geezer didn’t know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr. Geezer’s clinic.

This is what transpired. Dr. Young: “Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me?” Dr. Geezer: “Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young’s mouth.” Dr. Young: Aaagh !! — “This is Gasoline!” Dr. Geezer: “Congratulations! You’ve got your taste back. That will be $500.”

Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring out how to recover his money. Dr Young: “I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything.” Dr. Geezer: “Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient’s mouth.” Dr. Young: “Oh, no you don’t, — that is Gasoline!” Dr. Geezer: “Congratulations! Full Throttle Saloon Fire Ruled Accidental. Reason For Absence Of Water Systems Explained.

1fullthrottlesaloonThe U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives national response team in Sturgis has completed its investigation and ruled that the cause of the September 8 fire at the Full Throttle Saloon on highway 34 east of Sturgis was accidental. Investigators stated that the fire originated in the main part of the bar but didn’t immediately provide its cause. Damage is estimated at approximately $10 million

2fullthrottlesaloonRegarding the lack of water systems that could have supported sprinklers and fire hydrants, the explanation is that the county didn’t have a building code until 2010 and fire-safe construction standards haven’t been applied retroactively. Kirk Chaffee, the county’s director of equalization and planning, said that for this reason a total of 48 outlying campground areas do not have water systems.

3fullthrottlesaloonAnnexation by the city of Sturgis would be an option to bring higher-pressure water lines and stricter fire-safety regulations out to some developing rural areas, “The city of Sturgis tried years ago to annex an area that included the Full Throttle Saloon, only to see owner Michael Ballard petition the matter to a public vote in 2010 in which annexation was rejected” added Chaffee. “Many who resist annexation are worried about the increased cost that comes with it,” Sturgis City Manager Daniel Ainslie added.

Michael Ballard said his saloon was safe, with six large roll-up doors in the bar that could have served as exit points during a fire. “People could have gotten out of there… my donkey was smart enough to get out of there,” he said, referring to his pet that escaped the fire.

Unrecognizable Harley Fat Boy

1fatboymashin2fatboymashin3fatboymashin4fatboymashinUnconventional designs (and paint jobs) are often the characteristic of young builders not yet fully immersed into the custom motorcycle scene because not yet much influenced by what others are creating. Swiss Tom Mosimann is by trade a sign painter who got the bug for custom motorcycles and decided 3 years ago to build his first project under the banner of GS Mashin.

This Fat Boy (you didn’t guess) is his second work and his first done on a Harley. And if you are not distracted by the the very odd paint job color scheme, the bodywork deserves some kudos for the effort put into it.

Mosimann wanted his bike to be his own built, and although not an expert at metal shaping did all the steel fab himself. For inspiration?  Some lines and details he had seen on pictures of old Bonneville land speed racers.

The steel massaging of a singular sharp edges gas tank, of a tall fairing, of a long seat base/rear fender and of a mini spoiler took most of the 9 months devoted to this year 2000 Fat Boy makeover. To this, add the time consuming task of bending and welding a one-off exhaust system and the fabrication of an air cleaner cover featuring the GS shop initials.. Fat And Narrow Mini-Ape Bars From Harley-Davidson

1HDBars2HDBarsBolt on classic chopper attitude with the new Fat Chizeled Handlebar (P/N 55800421 Chrome, P/N 55800422 Gloss Black; $379.95) from Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories. The Fat Chizeled Handlebar features the edgy profile of the classic “Z” bar and combines the hands-up feel of a mini-ape with the narrow width of a drag bar.

When installed with the stock riser, this 12-inch-tall handlebar has the look and feel of a 14-inch bar. Instead of typical mitered-and-welded corners, the Fat Chizeled Handlebar features cast, seamless 90-degree elbows that eliminate sharp internal bends. The bar features removable Bar & Shield plugs to simplify internal wiring. The 1.25-inch bar necks down to fit stock 1.0-inch handlebar clamps. The tip-to-tip width is 27.5 inches; base width is 9.5 inches; and pullback is 4.0 inches. Continue reading ‘Fat And Narrow Mini-Ape Bars From Harley-Davidson’

After A Two-Year Absence The Harley-Davidson Road Glide Is Back As A 2016 Model

1rodglideultraRiders with a serious devotion to the road, you can rejoice. Harley-Davidson announced last weekend return of its long-mileage specialist, the 2016 Road Glide® Ultra motorcycle. A two-year absence from the Harley-Davidson Touring line was time well spent infusing the Road Glide Ultra with enhanced style, comfort and performance – the full influence of the customer-led Project RUSHMORE product development effort. Rider and passenger will enjoy outstanding aerodynamics and optimized touring ergonomics propelled by the performance of the Twin-Cooled™ High Output Twin Cam 103™ powertrain.

2rodglideultra“Since its introduction in 2011, the Road Glide Ultra has been the bike of choice for Harley-Davidson owners who ride the hardest and longest,” said Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Product Planning Director Paul James. “In fact, our research shows Road Glide Ultra riders rack up more miles per season than owners of any other Harley-Davidson models. We’ve designed the new Road Glide Ultra for that hard-core touring rider and passenger, with a special focus on aerodynamic performance and by creating a riding position that’s a comfortable place for a long day in the saddle.”

33rodglideultraThe distinctive design of the frame-mounted Road Glide® fairing was created by Harley-Davidson stylists and engineers using computational fluid dynamics, hundreds of hours of development in a wind tunnel and thousands of miles of road testing. Integrated triple splitstream vent openings in the fairing work in concert with the 13.5-inch tall touring windscreen to manage air pressure between the fairing and the rider to virtually eliminate head buffeting. Mid-frame air deflectors mounted below the fairing help to maintain comfortable airflow around the rider and direct cooling air to powertrain components.

Because the fairing is mounted to the frame, the effect of its weight and impact from the wind are reduced through the handlebars, resulting in light, precise steering control. The fairing also holds Dual Reflector Daymaker™ LED headlamps, a distinctive and conspicuous styling element that punches farther through darkness with brilliant white high- and low-beam illumination. AimexpoThe Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) announced it has acquired the Motorcycle Group business segment from Marketplace Events LLC. The acquisition includes the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo), America’s premier motorcycle and powersports show, and the only powersports event in North America that caters to trade, media and consumers all under one roof.AIMExpo’s show personnel, sales staff and management, including AIMExpo Show Director Cinnamon Kernes, and AIMExpo show creators Mike Webster and Larry Little, will form a new department within MIC titled “MIC Events.”  Acquisition combines the motorcycling industry’s trade association and its 600+ members with AIMExpo, the industry’s signature motorcycle show. Entire AIMExpo management and staff joining MIC. The First BMW Motorcycle. Still A Design Reference.

1BMW-R322BMW-R32Did some of you noticed? A few top customs currently on the show tour feature an overall stance and a gas tank strongly inspired by the first motorcycle BMW produced in 1923, the R32 Model. A design from 1923 still inspiring today’s custom builders deserves a lot of respect. The R32 is still considered by many as the most important motorcycle ever created by BMW Motorrad. During World War I, BMW was originally an aircraft engine manufacturer. When the war ended, under the Treaty of Versailles, BMW and many other German companies were barred from continuing their activities because they could be associated with a military effort.

BMW decided to enter the motorcycle business and spent 4 years conceiving designing, prototyping their first motorcycle. The R32 debuted in 1923 in Paris and Berlin and garnered a lot of attention, not only for its flat-twin boxer engine configuration (just under 500 cc) and drive train design (adapted until 1994), but for its low weight of 269 lbs, its new aesthetics and ergonomic concerns to make the ride as fatigue free as possible, at that time a new approach for a motorcycle manufacturer. Mission Motorcycles Filed For Bankruptcy

1Mission-MotorcyclesMark Seeger, CEO of San Francisco-based electric motorcycle company Mission Motorcycles, Inc. filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy saying in a letter to the court that his company has no more money and can’t afford an attorney…The company was created in 2013 with 2 partners and at the time announced the production of 2 electric race models, the Mission R and Mission RS. Each were supposed to be an extremely limited production of 40 units. Both models were announced at under 3-second 0-to-60 mph acceleration, 150 mph top speeds, and a range of up to 140 miles. In November 2013, Seeger’s partner Vincent Ip left the company and Mission Motorcycles filed a suit in December claiming Ip signed a stock restriction agreement that allowed the company to buy his shares if he left the company. IP filed a counter suit alleging that Seeger refused to disclose Mission’s finances. The lawsuits were still pending. No Mission motorcycles have been produced in 2014 and it is unknown how many have ever been manufactured. Website and Facebook page have been removed.

Joke Of The Week

cyril-huze-joke44 - CopyA Priest says to his friend the Rabbi that he has developed a plan for eating for free in really good restaurants. “I simply go in at well past 9 in the evening; eat several courses slowly; linger over coffee, dessert, and a cigar. At about  2 am, as they are cleaning up, I keep sitting there until eventually a waiter comes up and asks me to pay. Then I say, ‘I’ve already paid my original waiter, who has left for the night.’ And, because I am a man of the cloth, the waiter takes my word for it, and I just simply walk out the front door as calm as ever.” The Rabbi, clearly impressed says, “Let’s try it together this evening.”

The priest agrees and books them into an expensive, 5-Star Italian restaurant. They both eat like kings and, just as before, right at 2 am, they are both sitting quietly after enjoying their very full meal. Sure enough, a waiter comes over and hands the priest & the rabbi a bill and asks them to pay. The priest calmly says: “I’ve already paid our original waiter who has left for the evening.”

And then the Rabbi adds: “And we’re still waiting for the change!”

Sturgis Full Throttle Saloon Destroyed By Fire. Owner Michael Ballard Not Ready To Rebuild.

FullThrottleFireToday Wednesday September 9, Saloon owner Michael Ballard issued the following statement.

“Over the last two decades, The Full Throttle Saloon has been the epicenter of my life. Walking the grounds following this tragedy is simply devastating. We created a destination that resonated with working class America, and became over time a landmark for this great town which is Sturgis. Over the last several years, I’ve taken the success of the Full Throttle and made a significant investment in rebuilding my hometown of Trimble, Tennessee (where the Full Throttle S’loonshine distillery is based). Because of that large financial investment I am not in a position to just start rebuilding today. Right now I have to process what has happened and then figure out the future. As our plans come together, they will be shared, but as for today Angie and I are devastated. To everyone who made the Full Throttle become the special destination we all came to love, simply thank you.”
