One of the engineers shook his head and laughed: ” Ain’t that a typical blonde? We ask for the height and she gives us the length”

Published by September 4th, 2012 in Builders, Editorial, Events and Videos.Only the finest machines ever built by man will ever grace the Pebble Beach Fairway, and all entrants of this event are here by invitation because of their machines are of historic significance. Chronologically, you are going to see:
1- 1885 Daimler Reitwagen 0:05. This is the world’s first gasoline-powered motorcycle. Built by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. 2- 1968 Munch Mammoth 1:07. The world’s best performing superbikes between the years of 1966 and 2001. 3- 1951 Konsul II 501 OS-T 1:56. 68 mph on 2 wheels. 4- 1965 DKW Hummel 155 2:36. Das Kleine Wunder (the little wonder) was capable of cruising at 45 mph and was a legendary shock to conventional motorcycle design in Germany. 5- 1954 BMW Rennsport 3:16. Riders complained it was unstable. Sidecars fixed the stability issue. It did become one of the most successful side-car racing bikes anyone could want. 6- 1932 BMW R32 4:15. It was the first motorcycle produced by BMW. Designed by Max Friz, top speed on this motorcycle was just under 60mph. 7- 1934 BMW R7 5:24. This bike never saw production, thanks to Hitler. This one won Best-In-Class! It was a prototype. 1 of a kind. 8- 1953 Adler M250 6:36. One of the most winning motorcycles in European racing. Adler became the strongest driving forces pushing racing competition on both circuit courses and endurance events and powering the careers of many of Germany’s finest road race riders. 9- 1930 Opel Motoclub Model T 8:02. Restored to its original appearance. 10- 1950 Imme R100 10:50. Germany’s steel industry was devastated when it was constructed, which contributes to its minimalist design. 11- 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller 13:29. This is the world’s first production motorcycle. A 1.5L single-can machine with “no real brake”. Listen to the engineer who restored it. Priceless.

Super-Tracker Custom Harley Dyna
Published by September 3rd, 2012 in Builders, Customs and Editorial.Steve Carr at Lightning Rod Motorcycles loves to build what he calls “True Factory Customs”, meaning customized Harleys with the look expected from a bike built from the ground up but that you can have serviced and repaired by the crew of an official Harley dealership. And regarding style, his taste revolves around Pro-Street Buells, modern Harley Bobbers Board Trackers.
Using a 2008 Dyna SuperGlide as donor bike Steve just completed this project called the “Super-Tracker”, devoting his building time at restyling the entire bike while preserving the stock engine and transmission for the reasons explained above. The complete parts list and labor will set you back $21,995.00 but you can be certain that your “Harley” will not get lost on the parking lot, and even may get you a nice trophy if competing in an Official Harley bike show competition. CSC Is Launching The 250cc P-51 Motorcycle
Published by September 1st, 2012 in Builders, Customs and Editorial.CSC Motorcycles announced its new P-51 250cc motorcycle, which joins an existing line of CSC 150cc motorcycles. The new CSC motorcycle has a counterbalanced SOHC engine providing significantly more power, acceleration, and top speed. CSC Motorcycles take their styling cues from the iconic Mustang motorcycles manufactured from 1947 to 1963 in Glendale, California just a few miles from today’s modern CSC production facility.
To celebrate and publicize its introduction of the new P-51 motorcycle, CSC built a World-War-II-themed custom P-51 Classic with numerous custom features. Seidner explained that CSC Motorcycles offers the bikes in the same colors and styles as their current line of Classic, Babydoll, Greaser, and Military Series motorcycles.
“We’re quite pleased that we can now offer our customers a high performance version of the CSC motorcycle,” said Steve Seidner, CSC’s President and CEO. “Our customers asked for a larger engine and this bike directly answers that need. Our P-51 is a high performance motorcycle and the riding experience is like no other. We’re very pleased with this new engine. California Scooter Company created a new market niche with our resurrection of the Mustang motorcycle style, and the P-51 is in keeping with the best traditions of Walt Fulton and the original Mustang’s racing heritage at Rosamond Dry Lake, the Catalina Grand Prix, and other historic racing venues. Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run Defending Champion. Interview.
Published by August 31st, 2012 in Editorial and Events. In one week, Bradford Wilmarth will be on the starting line of the Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run with his 1913 Excelsior Model 7 Twin Cylinder (only one gear.) Having won the first edition of the Cannonball in 2010, his machine will carry the number 1. The defending champion, a professional antique motorcycle restorer near Richmond VA, is considered the favorite to win again this second edition. An interview.
This bike was featured in a recent episode of Discovery/Velocity Channel’s Cafe Racer TV Show and think it is a quite interesting contraption. It was built for actress Katee Sackhoff (both a tomboy and girl-girl personality) by a small shop I never heard about with the unexpected name of “Moto Classified”.
It is based on a 1987 Honda XL600R dual sport frame and motor and for suspension uses a 2006 Triumph Sprint 1050 ST single-sided swingarm moving via a Progressive Suspension under-seat mono shock. Result is appealing to me, and if it is for you, this custom order is now going to be duplicated for a price around $16,000. I like these guys philosophy when they declare: “We don’t have any notions of what is a proper bike to own and enjoy, so we work with what’s available to create unique recycled motorbikes that transcend their humble beginnings.” Moto Classified.
California based manufacturer of custom motorcycles Big Bear Choppers got its assets and trademarks (name and model designs) bought a few months ago by Simon Scott from Rage Hard Choppers. Simon Scott is an international businessman with interests in the USA, and Indonesia.
The new company, now in San Bernadino, CA continues to manufacture Big Bear Choppers motorcycles with Kevin & Mona Alsop being directly involved in the design and development of current and new models. I met with all 3 in Sturgis and they told me that Rage Hard Choppers was building 8 to 10 bikes a month and actively pursuing new dealers, here in the US and abroad.
Today, they announce that they have acquired two new dealers in the United States (OMG Motorsports from Gresham, OR and High Performance Cycles from Allentown, PA.) and are working on the launch of a brand new model.
