Now that Triumph is making a big come back in Europe and in the US, it’s time to watch again this original B/W film about the machining, assembly, the use of Triumphs by police in Paris and London and of course some racing.
You will never guess. So, I am telling you. Its an engine built with a year ‘57 Harley Panhead lower end and year ‘66 Shovelhead heads and cylinders…… You need quite an imagination to do this.
And the reason behind this project is that motorcycle restoration professional Roger Squires from Southern California, likes the looks of a generator lower end, likes the way a Shovelhead runs and and loves the way Knuckleheads look. That’s not all, he is making the left side of the heads look like those of a Knucklehead!
This bitchin’ engine is going to turn heads. Two Shucklehead engines and bikes are in progress, at this day about 75% completed. How much? Of course, priceless. Need to know more? Contact Roger Squires at 310-322-8320 or go to Universal Engravers

S&S Cycle Saved By Wisconsin State Loans. The company was in peril, admit S&S owner George B. Smith and President Steve Iggens. The La Crosse, Wisconsin company was growing very fast in the 90’s and beginning of the 00’s and took loans to finance its expansion. Then, the economic downturn with less orders and high interest borrowing created a severe cash flow issue for the manufacturer of after-market engines and parts. Help to save S&S Cycle came from the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority guaranteeing a portion of the refinancing loans required to continue operation and from a Community Grant from the state Department of Commerce. Today S&S Cycle is back on track, has 230 employees with revenues stated at 30% above those of 2009, the company darkest financial year. Continue reading ‘Fast Motorcycle Industry News’

I guess that calling its new model Don Juan, Metalsport Wheels suggest that like the fictional rogue and libertine character who spent his life seducing women, this new wheel will work in your favor with all women seeing you riding your bike. Huh…
At least, some will agree that this new offering is pure 3-D wheels seduction and as sexy as custom wheels come. Chrome plating accentuates every curve of the torqued five-spoke design, right down to where the spoke molds to the radius of the rim.
Seduction comes in 5 sizes: 30″, 26″, 23″, 21″ and 18″. Metalsport Wheels.

After introducing you to the shop Rods & Rides and to their “Ol’ 37” custom, another of their bikes that they were showing during Daytona Biketoberfest, Called the “S” bike, S is short for Scwhinn, inspiration for this creation being the famous bicycle company… and, everybody has already noticed, some of the customs produced by custom builder Jesse Rooke.
Frame was not built in house, like for most of the bikes that the shop is building. The frame was purchased through a good friend Mike Simms form MMW. Mike said to Rods and Rides owner T.D Ward “You build some sick stuff, see what you can do with this one”. T.D wanted the bike to be similar to the Rooke design but with less tail section and a true old school Schwinn bicycle look. The bike also had to have a gangster look to make it appealing to him. In several US states, motorcyclists have claimed and sued their governments, claiming that their constitutional rights are violated during police or troopers highway checkpoints. Their argument is that these checkpoints unfairly and unconstitutionally are systematically targeting bikers under suspicion of wrongdoing. If checkpoints from “a general interest in crime control” without suspicion always amount to unconstitutional seizures, such initiatives to control bikers coinciding with or during motorcycle rallies are defended by police as safety measures.
On Thursday, in a case followed nationwide, 4 bikers sued New York State troopers under the argument that the State checkpoints were a mere pretext to look for criminals and that it is de facto an intrusive and unfair practice assimilating all bikers as potential criminals. This week, Judge Gary Sharpe has rejected motorcyclists’ claims under the ruling that these checkpoints followed by the issuance of many tickets were were enacted to promote motorcycle safety, a manifest of public interest. If you dream of a special bespoke motorcycle I am pretty sure you would also love to own a custom car built around the vintage body of your choice car, but updated with a new modern chassis, powertrain, interior, electrical components, etc. This is the specialty of a company created by Jonathan Ward named Icon. His passion is to turn vehicles into modern marvels while keeping the faded paint job and the worn out exterior that you might find in a barn or junkyard. This one is a completely tricked out 1952 Chevy Deluxe Businessman Coupe with an Art Morrison powder-coated chassis, ABS brakes, a 430 hp Camaro 6.2 LS3 engine and inside very exotic interior materials. Which car body is your fancy? John will transform it in a vehicle without peers where custom boundaries can only be limited by your budget. Icon The Derelicts.

US Harley-Davidson Dealer Inventories Too Low? The investment firm Robert W. Baird & Co. reports that new Harley-Davidson motorcycles inventory has never been so low in 10 years. Protecting Harley brand value was one of the objectives announced and repeated by Harley-Davidson President. The survey was made among 50 dealers with 86% of them stating that new models supply is too low or about right. A low inventory supports prices and often makes a Harley more desirable to a potential buyer who may accelerate his buying decision.
Riding With Your Dog Is Animal Cruelty? During 6 1/2 years a certain biker in new Jersey named Szatmari used to ride with his dog Bosco placed front of him. Not amused, police stopped him and took him to court for animal cruelty! Bosco the dog learned to ride this way on tractor trailers and was comfortable riding any motorcycle in this position. After taking a lawyer, the litigation was settled and Szatmari is now working on a fixture to carry 3 dogs on the back seat. Some of you email to ask me where I am in Europe, what I do, etc. I will not bore you with all details of my trip, but having a few minutes available, this post from Bordeaux (southwest of France), capital of the best wines in the world (red and white, 14,000 producers, 700 million bottles annually) A city where I have very good friends, 2 of them being some of the very best in their respective businesses and who just gave me a very special welcome back treatment.
First, Dominique Mariaulle, simply known as Dom, owner of a beautiful and very busy shop named V-Twin Garage, and who is probably (just after me…) the greatest supporter of everything American. Dom has not only an impressive motorcycling experience, but has extensively rode both his Harley or Victory ot Custom in exactly 38 US States. Particularity, his shop, from main door to rest room, is exclusively decorated with beautiful Diner furniture, memorabilia, signs, pin ball and pop corn machines included, imported after each of his trip across the Atlantic. You will never meet in France, or in the US when he visits us (he will be in Cincinnati for the 2012 V-Twin Expo), somebody with a larger smile, dealer experience and sense of friendship…Dom organized for me in his shop a TV interview in which he also mentioned that he is about to launch his own designed Chopper & Bobber models line up already approved to be road legal on all streets and highways of Europe.
