Last Monday at the Annual Texas Mile, a 1299 cc Wild Brothers turbocharged Racing Susuki Hayabusa piloted by Bill Warner reached a street bike world record of 278.6 mph, 5 mph over the former highest speed reach last March of this year. The Texas Mile is a 3-day festival of speed held in Goliad with 76 motorcycles and 173 cars participating to this year’s event. For information on the bike setup, go to Brock’s Performance.

BDL LTD was already offering a 2″ open drive for baggers years 1990 to 2006. And now owners of 2007-up models can also install this narrow belt drive system. Both models allow proper stock placement of the floorboards and incorporate a unique top belt guard into the system which fits in a groove between the motor plate and side guard. For better RPM management, these kits include a new pulley ratio and a patented Ball Bearing lock up clutch. Rear basket is 69 tooth and front pulley 52 tooth. 1- Europe. Motorcycle Self-Customization Prohibited In 2017? Politicians love to look into and impose as many laws as possible. And when they lack inspiration they look abroad. So watch out for the most stupid project that the European Commission is looking into for 2017. One day it can be imported here in the US. The Commission wants all motorcycles over 125 cc to be equipped with an Onboard Diagnostic System. This electronic system will register any part you replace and when you do it your motorcycle will refuse to start. Only certified dealers will be able to access your Onboard Diagnostic System, meaning that self maintenance and your own installation of after-market parts would be impossible, except maybe accessories like mirrors, grips, windshields, etc. I think that European politicians underestimate the ability of European bikers to block traffic in their cities as long as necessary to make them change their mind. Europe, the other big continent for motorcycle customization, is getting ready for the top winter bike shows. And of course it includes the Annual Custom Chrome Europe Dealer Show to happen March 27, 2011 in Germany at the Rhie’s Phoenix-Hall.
It’s where the 2011 European Champion will be crowned. This year’s edition had more than 100 top European custom bikes competing for the very professionally rewarding champion title and many other prizes and trophies. March 26th and 27th are “Dealer Days” only for registered authorized CCE dealers. On Sunday 27 the show is open to the general public. Showtimes are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bikes are far from being completed, but competitors must already register their entry (ies). Canadian bike builder Roger Goldammer was first known in the industry for his radical parts (billet aluminum front ends and frames), then reached fame for his pretty wild and futuristic custom motorcycles conceived to be not only aesthetically pleasing but also mechanically extremely innovative to go very fast on the track.
Most of his work until now has been a modern take on board track and Cafe Racers, each of his creations always including innovations like hidden swingarm suspension, V-Twin converted in single cylinder engine, front suspension part of the frame neck etc, often incorporating Nitous Oxide Systems to race on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
