Over the course of the next five decades, he created a string of iconic designs that defined Harley-Davidson “factory custom” motorcycles. Throughout his life he has embodied a close-to-the-customer relationship, by attending motorcycle rallies, rides and races, that helped play a significant role in building the company into a global phenomenon. “I wanted to combine my interest in art and design with my love for vehicles,” said Willie. “I was born with gasoline in my veins and crayons in my hands.” Continue reading ‘H-D Museum Summer Exhibit Celebrates Motorcycle Legend Willie G. With little money, a lot of help from sponsors, a lot of courage and the ability to work 18 hours a day because anyway sleeping is lost time (remember it was a BBO), he was able to produce this massive amount of metal work and to add to it crazy electronics that work! (for ex. bike starts while touching a dash screen) Think what you want of this HD Twin Cam B contraption, 30“ front 20” rear wheeler, but I can tell you that when you are so young and passionate you end up as being able to make a living as a professional Custom Builder. Fast Motorcycle Industry News

cyril-Huze-fast-newsCalifornia Close To Make Legal Motorcycle Lane-Splitting. Motorcycle lane-splitting — the rush-hour time saver for bikers that enrages many drivers is close to be formally legalized. Assembly Bill 51 has been passed and would authorize a motorcycle to be driven between rows of stopped or moving vehicles in the same lane if the motorcycle is not driven at a speed of more than 50 miles per hour and is driven no more than 15 miles per hour faster than the speed of traffic. The bill, still to be approved and signed by the California Senate and Governor would provide that these provisions do not authorize a motorcycle to be driven in contravention of other laws relating to the safe operation of a vehicle. California would be the first state to sanction the traffic-evading tactic, already widespread on traffic-choked freeways of Los Angeles. If definitively approved, the American Motorcycle Association (AMA), hopes that the new California law will inspire legislators in other states. Lane-splitting is a common practice in European nations

New law Legalizes Three-Wheel Polaris Slingshot In Texas. Polaris Slingshot ended up in legal limbo last year after it was determined that it didn’t fit the letter of any of Texas motor vehicle laws. It didn’t have the safety equipment required to define it as a car, but since it had seats, and not a saddle, it couldn’t be considered a motorcycle, either. That changed last week when Governor Greg Abbot signed an amendment to the law that essentially removed the saddle requirement, allowing three-wheel “autocycles” to be registered as motorcycles, as they are in many states. A motorcycle license is still required to drive one, but you can take the test in a three-wheeler if you only plan to drive that type of vehicle. The $19,999 two-seater is powered by a front-mounted four-cylinder car engine that drives the single rear wheel through a five-speed, belt-drive transmission. It has three-point seat belts, roll hoops, power steering and stability control, but no airbags or windshield wipers. The laws that govern vehicles like the Slingshot vary from state to state, and it’s still not street legal in a few. That includes Connecticut, Hawaii and Maryland, while Indiana recently passed its own “autocycle” law authorizing its use. In most states it follows the same helmet rules as a motorcycle, but in California can be driven without one and only requires an automobile license to operate.

cyril-Huze-fast-newsTexas House Passes Biker Safety Bill Days After Shooting. Texas lawmakers approved motorcycle safety legislation on Friday that supporters say was going to be discussed at the biker’s meeting in Waco where a deadly shootout erupted last weekend. The bill, which now heads to Gov. Greg Abbott, would funnel some of the state’s motorcycle-related fees to state Department of Transportation campaigns that remind motorists to share the road and look twice for motorcycles. Some fees already help boost the Texas Department of Public Safety’s motorcycle education efforts. Three bikers who helped write the legislation are among about 170 people jailed following Sunday’s melee in Waco that killed nine people.

Alabama. Motorcycle License Bill Passes Legislature. Alabamians will need to have a motorcycle classification on their license, and take a written exam or safety course, under a bill that has passed the state Legislature. Currently, only motorcyclists age 14 and 15 have to take a written test and get the M classification. Those older than that may get the classification, but don’t have to. Motorcyclists who already have the M classification will be grandfathered in. The law will become effective Jan. 1, 2016. Law enforcement will then be able to issue tickets to motorcyclists who don’t have the M classification. The bill also allows drivers to complete a safety course instead of the written test. There’s a $5 fee for the written test.

Joke Of The Week

cyril-huze-joke44 - Copy40 years of marriage…

A married couple in their early 60s are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant. Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table. She said, “For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish.”

The wife answered, “Oh, I want to travel around the world With my darling husband.” The fairy waved her magic wand and – poof! – two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands.

The husband thought for a moment. “Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I’m sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.” The wife and the fairy were deeply disappointed. But a wish is a wish.

So the fairy waved her magic wand and Poof!…the husband became 92 years old.

The moral of this story: men who are ungrateful bastards should remember that fairies are female …..
