“One Machine Can Do The Work Of Fifty Ordinary Men. No Machine Can Do The Work Of An Extraordinary Man.” Keeping in mind this thought from Elbert Hubbard, with a courage and a tenacity that most will never own, Joe Cooper has spent years pursuing the task of fabricating and offering the finest hand fabricated steel fenders on the market at competitive prices you can afford.
Never discouraged all along the multi-year development process and hundreds of pieces of scrap later, Joe showed me his awesome fenders with absolutely no weld for strength and durability and a flawless surface finish making many stamped fenders look like crap in comparison. And when he claims that his metal work can go straight to paint or polish with no fillers or additional bodywork, it’s not only a slogan. It’s realty.
The Cooper Smithing Co Steel Fenders come in 2 styles to fit perfectly either a 16 x 5” or a 18 x 4” tire and are sold in a standard 33” length. But Joe will accept to make fenders for alternate wheel/tire sizes. Contact him on my behalf at 253-906-0425 or joe@coopersmithingco.com. Watch the video below to see American Master Craftsman Joe Copper at work. No magic. Hard work and an immense talent.

Who doesn’t want a motorcycle that you can ride absolutely everywhere you want to go, that you can carry, that you can disassemble in 15 minutes and pack in your car trunk. I forgot. It floats, too. This Russian motorcycle is extraordinary, does much more than the American made Rokon. It’s called the Tarus, weighting only 110 lbs, equipped with a 2-stroke engine for a maximum speed of 40 mph. What you are going to watch is the prototype before production. But supposedly you can buy the blue prints for the equivalent of $37.00 (not a typo) Do you want one? I do, for example to play in the Black Hills during Sturgis Bike Week.

Background. David Zien is a well known former member of the Wisconsin State Senate famous for riding more than one million miles on a 1991 Harley-Davidson now on display at the Sturgis Hall Of Fame from which he is a member since 2000. He always ride his bikes flying the American and others. In 2011 he was critically injured in a highway crash in Florida in which he lost a leg, and now continues to ride, this time on a Harley-Davidson trike equipped with a custom hand operated shifter. Zien continues to fly flags when he rides.
On a recent riding trip to Dallas, Texas his trike had a clutch and transmission failure and Zien claims that he was told by a Harley dealer that his warranty claim was denied because he flies too many flags on his motorcycle. The largest is an American flag ‘3 x 5”. Continue reading ‘Flying A Flag On Your Harley-Davidson Voids The Warranty?’

The American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) has signed its 300th exhibitor for its 2014 event with Gibbs Sports Amphibians. As a result, AIMExpo is setting a fast pace to exceed the mark of nearly 400 exhibitors from the event’s launch last October. The second year event will be held October 16-19 at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center (OCCC). Gibbs is one of several exhibitors increasing its presence both indoors and outdoors while introducing new models at AIMExpo. A larger space inside OCCC allows for greater interaction with dealers, members of the media, and consumers.
With such a large contingent of exhibitors enlisted, and more being added the AIMExpo continues to cement its place within the powersports marketplace. Exhibitor numbers and interest continues to grow each day and companies looking to take advantage of the AIMExpo platform should contact an AIMExpo Account Manager at 855-MCShows (855-627-4697). Wholesale sales of replacement tires from the major tire manufacturers for 2014’s Q1 fell 12.7% from the same period in 2013. Sales of 2013 Q1 were also down 15.8% from 2012 Q1.
Tire sales are a good gauge of the overall industry, because it shows how many people are riding their bikes and for how many miles. The explanation is of course the post 2008 Great Recession years with a huge drop off in motorcycle sales. Since then, new motorcycle sales have improved but it was expected that it would take a few years for motorcycle tire sales to pick up again. .
The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) said that he average annual miles ridden per motorcycle user for year 2012 (last year it was tabulated) was 3,028, up 4.3% from the 2,903 average for 2009. Fewer bikes out there, but the number of miles being put on motorcycles is increasing.

The IRS decides to audit a Biker, and summons him to the IRS office. The IRS auditor was not surprised when the Biker shows up with his attorney. The auditor said, “Well, sir, you have an extravagant lifestyle and no full-time employment, which you explain by saying that you win money gambling. I’m not sure the IRS finds that believable.”
I’m a great gambler, and I can prove it,” says the Biker. “How about a demonstration?” The auditor thinks for a moment and said, “Okay. Go ahead.”
Biker says, “I’ll bet you a thousand dollars that I can bite my own eye.” The auditor thinks a moment and says, “It’s a bet.” Biker removes his glass eye and bites it. The auditor’s jaw drops.
Biker says, “Now, I’ll bet you two thousand dollars that I can bite my other eye.” Now the auditor can tell the Biker isn’t blind, so he takes the bet. Biker removes his dentures and bites his good eye. The stunned auditor now realizes he has wagered and lost three grand, with the Biker’s attorney as a witness. He starts to get nervous.
“Want to go double or nothing?” Biker asks “I’ll bet you six thousand dollars that I can stand on one side of your desk, and piss into that wastebasket on the other side, and never get a drop anywhere in between.” The auditor, twice burned, is cautious now, but he looks carefully and decides there’s no way this old guy could possibly manage that stunt, so he agrees again. Wearing a helmet to “fly” your motorcycle? What about a pretty cool helmet inspired by those worn by helicopter pilots.
I like the signature curve at the sides, the simplicity of the chromatic graphics, the fact that you can remove and re-install the ISV2 Anti-scratch visor in a few seconds without the use of tools, the choice of visor tints to personalize it to your taste and/or to your bike. The internal padding is removable and washable and fabric is in Dry-Lex with hygienic treatment.

It’s with sadness that I report the passing of John Green on Wednesday May 14. He was the President of all Easyriders Events, the famous V-twin Bike Show and Rodeo Tours.
I don’t know any household name builder who didn’t participate at least one time (me, several times) to his big custom motorcycle shows, meetings, exhibitions, entertainment events. A very gentle and courageous man, he was relentless in promoting the talent and business of all builders and many owe him to have been able to start a career in the custom motorcycle industry.
John was diagnosed about one year ago with terminal cancer. He passed away at home surrounded by his wife Jene’ and mother Katie. My condolences to all his family and friends.
