Honda. Master Of Mechanical Complications.
Published by January 7th, 2010 in Builders, Editorial and Videos.Everything that you see happened in real time exactly as you see it. The recording required 606 takes and in the first 605 takes there always was something, usually of minor importance, that didn’t work. It was necessary for the recording team to install the set-up time after time and it took several weeks working day and night to achieve this effect. The recording cost 6 million dollars and it took 3 months to finish, including the engineering design of the sequence. The duration of the video is only 2 minutes, but every time that Honda shows the commercial on British television, they make enough money to support any of us for the rest of our lives. By the way, about the shield wipers in the new Honda Accords, they are sensitive to water and designed to start working as soon as they get wet (thanks Troy).

I am not a lawyer, but got the explanation by getting the document below explaining both Chapter 11 & 7 bankruptcy. Ready To Pay $100 For The Freedom Of Riding Without A Helmet?
Published by January 7th, 2010 in Editorial and Events. This post forwarded by Rogue (Sturgis Freedom Fighters, Motorcycle Hall Of Fame Member 2005).
“To Pay for freedom? No way! This is what happens when motorcycle rights organizations make compromise deals with state legislative bodies. Motorcycle Rights Organizations need to go back to Protests and Civil Disobedience. That worked before and will again, you just need some balls to do it. Now enter law enforcement wanting to shake down motorcyclists who want to ride without a helmet. The Michigan State Police Union and the Deputy Sheriffs Union have come out in favor of the bill if a fee of $100 is charged for the privilege of riding without a helmet It’s all-out Money and not Safety!” Continue reading ‘Ready To Pay $100 For The Freedom Of Riding Without A Helmet?’
A Letter From Sheldon Coleman CEO Of Big Dog Motorcycles
Published by January 6th, 2010 in Builders, Customs, Editorial and Events.Below the email I received from Sheldon Coleman.
“Happy New Year to all!! 2010 is here at last. Personally, I am glad to have 2009 behind us, and am looking forward to all the prospects of a fresh year, with hopefully an improving economy and a more robust industry! As a reminder, we have decided to focus our energies on only one of the two February trade shows for this year. In the past, we have tried to accommodate both the Cincinnati V-Twin Expo and the Indianapolis Powersports Dealer Expo into our schedule and budget. Unfortunately, this year we had to choose between these two fine events. Continue reading ‘A Letter From Sheldon Coleman CEO Of Big Dog Motorcycles’
Breaking News. Ridley Motorcycles In Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Reorganization.
Published by January 6th, 2010 in Builders and Events.Financially exhausted by poor sales and by defending during 6 years a very costly lawsuit filed by Harley-Davidson (I remember President Clay Ridley telling me last September that more than 1/2 million dollars were spent in defense lawyer fees) and settled in 2009 (with Ridley losing the right to use the Auto-Glide name), Ridley Motorcycle Company filed on December 29, 09 a voluntarily petition under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Code. A motion was just filed the day after on December 30, 09 by MidFirst Bank, lender to Ridley in 2005 of an amount of $1 million, for the bankruptcy court to authorize the abandonment of the collateral given by Ridley to the bank. (Ridley already voluntarily surrendered its collateral to the bank on October 1st 2009, but Ridley bankruptcy case was filed before Midfirst Bank had the time to organize an auction this January 2010). The court document in my possession shows that the indebtedness by Ridley to MifFirst Bank far exceeds the value of the given collateral. Continue reading ‘Breaking News. Mystery Of The Jeff Decker Bronze Statue Disappearance Is Solved. Almost!
Published by January 5th, 2010 in Customs, Editorial and Events. When managers of Harley-Davidson of Lindon called police last Saturday morning and reported that friend of the industry Jeff Decker 4-ton metal statue called “Land Speed” was missing (see my original post), quite a few people were smiling, including myself. Not because of the audacity of the theft but because many knew that this piece of art was never paid to Jeff by the Harley dealership owner.
Yesterday, the statue was found at Jeff’s home, Jeff believing that the statue is his property and was on loan, while the Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership listed it as an asset in its current bankruptcy filing. Lindon Police Chief Cody Cullimore says that Jeff Decker admitted he was involved in arranging to have it removed from Timpanogos Harley-Davidson’s property. Now Is The Best Time To Buy A Motorcycle. Not In One Year.
Published by January 5th, 2010 in Builders and Editorial. Here my 2010 prognostic. It’s going to be the best year to buy a motorcycle, and it will not be in 2011 or later. I have some good reasons to think this way.
You know that prices are much lower than in recent years for negotiated new models and used bikes. Dealers are offering huge incentives betting that they will get back some of their money when you go back to them for service and new parts. Because of manufacturer tight budgets and economically driven conservatism, the 2009 and 2010 models feature only some minor styling changes. New Tattoo Wheels By Xtreme Machine.
Published by January 5th, 2010 in Builders, Customs, Editorial and Wheels. As you can imagine, due to the overwhelming choice of designs (choosing a wheel is probably the most difficult decision for most bikers), wheel designers and manufacturers are looking for more ways to differentiate their models and let you
express your personality.
A good example of this approach is a new 2010 series of wheels by XTreme Machine with 7 different designs and 7 colors to choose from. The tattooing of these new wheels is done via a “Hard Process” that I will not explain to you because it is “Washington Classified”. See all designs and colors by going to X-Treme Machine.
If you live up north, current extremely cold temperatures are hazardous to you, you car and your bike. Tip: if you see a polar bear slip, you will too.

4-Ton Jeff Decker Bronze Sculpture Stolen From A Harley-Davidson Dealer
Published by January 3rd, 2010 in Editorial and Events. We all know that motorcycles are very vulnerable to thieves. Apparently 4-ton bronze motorcycles can evaporate as easily.
During the night from Friday to Saturday the Jeff Decker bronze “Land Speed” was stolen front of the Timpanagos Harley-Davidson store in Utah. The sculpture was mounted on a giant rock slab and the thieves, probably with a crane or forklift. were able to lift the 4-ton bronze and its support and to disappear unnoticed…I wonder. Can it be another case of repossessed motorcycle?
Billy Lane Using His Skills And Helping Others While In Prison
Published by January 3rd, 2010 in Builders, Customs, Editorial and Events. As expected by those who, like me, know him personally, Billy Lane has turned his prison time into a positive by helping other inmates learn how to weld and working on fixing the vehicles of the Avon Park Work Camp where he is serving a 6-year sentence after pleading no contest to one count of vehicular homicide for crashing his pickup truck head-on into and killing 56-year-old Park Ranger Gerald Morelock. During the last 4 months since his sentencing, Billy has also resolved his remaining legal problem surrounding the accident of Setpember 4, 2006. The civil lawsuit filed by Erin derrick – Lane’s passenger during the crash – for hospital bills compensation was settled out of court.
