cyril-Huze-fast-newsBill To Allow Motorcycle Lane-Splitting Stalls In California. Legislation to allow California motorcyclists to ride between vehicles in slow-moving traffic has stalled in the state Legislature. Assemblyman Bill Quirk of Hayward, a Democrat, is putting the legislation on hold for this year while he figures out how to implement lane-splitting. Although California bikers regularly engage in lane-splitting, the practice is at the discretion of law enforcement and exists in a legal gray area. a bill by Republican Tom Lackey of Palmdale would have required motorcycles to drive below 50 miles per hour when splitting lanes. The legislation has support from law enforcement groups but the American Motorcyclist Association opposed it.

Hawaii Bill To Eliminate Ethanol in Gasoline. Legislation to repeal the requirement that gasoline offered for sale in Hawaii contain a percentage of ethanol was signed into law by Governor David Ige. The new law becomes effective December 31, 2015. The law recognizes that the requirement of blending ethanol into gasoline does not produce any economic benefit for the state and the import of ethanol creates an economic burden for state residents. Ethanol increases water formation, which can then corrode metals and dissolve plastics and rubber, especially over a period of time when the vehicle is not used. Current high-performance specialty parts along with pre-model-year ’01 cars and parts may be most susceptible to corrosion. The lifespan of vehicles and equipment can be dramatically reduced with the wrong fuel, and owners could be confronted with breakdowns.

Harley-Davidson And The Confederate Flag

harley-davidsonr-confederate-flagHarley-Davidson will no more license products featuring the Confederate flag. The Confederate battle flag has always been a polarizing issue. According to a recent CNN/ORC poll, U.S. public opinion 57% of Americans see it as a symbol of Southern pride and not aa a statement of racism.

But that all changed last month when a white gunman, 21-year-old Dylann Roof, killed nine African-American worshipers in a Charleston church. After the massacre, photos quickly surfaced of Roof holding the battle flag, which he revered as a symbol of white supremacy.

The racially motivated attack triggered a national wave of sympathy and renewed calls to have the battle flag removed. Early this Thursday morning July 9th, the House of Representatives voted 94-20 to remove it from the South Carolina’s statehouse grounds, giving final approval to a bill that passed the Senate earlier in the week. The bill now goes to Gov. Nikki Haley, who has said she will sign it into law. Many Harley dealers are currently offering “while they last” their final supply of tee shirts featuring the Confederate flag.

The Cubo. Revolutionary?

CuboIt is a 2-wheel vehicle. So, it can be classified as a motorcycle… The Cubo is an electric vehicle with argo space from startup Lit Motors designed to give drivers a smarter alternative on the road.

Ideal for short commutes, the company is convinced that the younger generation will love it for its cutting edge design and low maintenance cost.

It is designed by industry expert designer Yves Behar, and Lit Motors says to be ready to go in production with a solid financial backup. When it happens, MSRP should be around $6,000.00. Is the Cubo an urban alternative to traditional motorcycles? It remains to be seen…in your city streets. Lit Motors.

A Harley Street Wants To Race

1shaw
2shaw3shaw4shawYou know that most motorcycle manufacturers face the hurdle of attracting the young generation, the budget focused riders, the lesser sized riders and women. Pulling today’s young generation away from from their electronic gadgets and video games, creating a 70’s type counter culture inciting them to spend more time outside to experience a “real life” is not small task. The Street model is supposed to dispel the idea that only grizzled boomers are riding and can afford a Harley-Davidson. Will the Street become the machine bridging between boomers and youngsters while still being perceived as a pure Harley-Davidson V-Twin motorcycle? Not immediately, but I know that each custom Street hitting the pavement will help a little bit.

4bisshaw4terbisshawNo doubt that Shaw Harley-Davidson in the UK understands what this model is all about – raw, minimal essence and looking fun – and tried hard at reinforcing these attributes through the use of mostly oem or aftermarket Harley parts. From start to finish, only one motto for this makeover. Make it looking loud, proud and rebellious, but not changing its factory personality to still be identified right away as a Harley Street – not a competitor model – and above all not being intimidating for a 1st time or female rider. Forty Two Reasons Why I Must Have A Motorcycle…Honey!

Cover-of-M-BookMen who want to buy a motorcycle often face an uphill battle with a reluctant spouse or girlfriend. It may be about your 1st motorcycle, second, third one, etc. Long time rider R. Lowell Hake has felt the pain based on past encounters with the Motorcycle Antichrist living in his own home which he had to overcome. So, he wrote the 42 reasons you may use (hope you don’t have to use them all…) to convince a partner. His book is a “hilarious quick read” and “the ultimate biker bathroom book.”

The author readily admits it’s all in fun. “Any man who resorts to claiming ‘God wants me to’ in seeking his wife’s approval to buy a motorcycle might as well tattoo ‘buffoon’ in big letters across his sorry butt,” says Hakes. A few words you may practice before you go out and buy a motorcycle without her consent. “I already told my friends I was getting one so for the love of God don’t make me back out now”, “My manhood is at stake here”, “It’s less expensive than a therapist”, “I want to save the earth”, etc.

A Message From Philip S Zanghi III About Indian Premium Cigars.

1IndianMotorcyclecigar“I want to thank the Cyril Huze Post for posting this news item. Debonaire, for whom I am founder and president ,i entered a licensing agreement with Indian Motorcycle for cigars, and believe that for those who choose to smoke, we will offer a premium and quality product that fits both the Indian Motorcycle and Debonair brands. We will make that debut at the International Premium Cigars & Pipe Retailers trade show this month.

I would also like to state that I am not my father. For over two decades I have not had a relationship with my father outside of sharing my Grandfathers name, and understand how some readers of the blog might assume that I am the same person. I don’t have any comment regarding my father’s past with this brand, but I can say with all confidence that I and Debonair are in full compliance with the Indian Motorcycle Company’s licensing agreements, brand standards and business practices.

I appreciate Indian Motorcycle and parent company Polaris Industries for partnering with us.” Sincerely. Philip s Zanghi III
