A Custom Motorcycle With Nothing More Than Its Vital Organs.

eel1eel2eel3eel4eel5Professional work or improvised job? Pro or backyard builder? Stop to ask yourself these questions. The only answer to be made is, you have to know much more than the average “tinkering on bikes” guy to build a contraption like that. At least, the builder will please those who hates over chromed, highly polished theme bikes… Without excess of anything and with the modest ambition to be able to take short spins around the block or a long spin around the city limits, “Slippery Eel” (yes, it’s the name of the bike) by PGA Customs is a Harley rebuilt on a custom frame bended and welded at the shop. David Uhl Dedicates Painting To Steven Tyler To Support Charity

reckoningYesterday December 14 at the New York IMS show, rock ‘n’ roll icon Steven Tyler was a featured guest during David Uhl’s unveiling of “The Reckoning”, a stunning oil on canvas to benefit arts and education in public schools. David created a monumental painting of Steven Tyler on a motorcycle riding through a crowd of paparazzi. This 6-foot tall original oil painting, titled “The Reckoning” is the largest effort by David Uhl to date and is now offered as limited edition fine art prints signed by both David and Steven. All profits from fine art print sales will be donated to Donor Choose, an innovative online charity connecting classroom requests from teachers in high-need communities with donors who want to help.

The idea behind this project has its roots in Steven’s active fight for privacy rights that resulted in submitting the entitled Steven Tyler Act into the State of Hawaii legislature. This legislation was intended to give more privacy to public figures, such as government officials and celebrities on vacation, raise awareness of these intrusions and afford public figures the right to sue aggressive paparazzi for trespassing and taking unwanted photographs. Holiday Gift For Your Kids. Bikers Are Animals. 4th In A Series Of Children’s Books.

BAA1I liked very much – and my grand children too – the first 3 “Bikers Are Animals” children’s books by avid motorcyclist, author and cartoonist Paul Jamiol. Each of his books bring young readers into a world of motorcycle-riding animals, breaking down the stereotype that anyone who rides a motorcycle is bad and inspiring a new generation of riders. In the 4th in a series, “Bikers Are Animals – Working And Riding”, after a hard workday, motorcycle-riding animals head out on the open road with their young ones!

Jamiol’s newly introduced young characters are proud of their adults and what they do for work. After the workday is done, they would rather ride with their adults than sit in front of a TV or play video games. They explore the open road together, experiencing the sights, sounds and freedom that is lacking in the confines of an automobile. Their love of riding brings them together in a unique way.

The young characters (bears, an elephant, a hawk, a squirrel, and a raccoon, to name a few) are male and female, personable and fun, and are as independent as their adults. The young reader will meet them and, through the eyes of these young critters, will see the pride and respect between adult and youngster. This journey into their world will spark the young reader’s imagination in a positive way.

BAA2In Jamiol’s first two books, he introduced his cartoon menagerie on “cool” motorcycles, showing children and parents that those involved in motorcycling are intelligent and caring. In his 3rd, the characters from BAA1 go on a riding adventure. Now,  in the new Bikers Are Animal – Working And Riding – Jamiol has created 16 new, young characters who are the sons, daughters, grand kids, nieces, nephews and siblings of his adult characters. These engaging youngsters proudly introduce their adults and explain about their occupations, and then each goes riding with his/her adult parent, where it’s all about bonding and having fun. New Internet Address Extension .motorcycles Soon To Be Offered

cyril-huze-post-internet-addressMost internet addresses (URLs) end with familiar “top level domains” such as .com, .org or .edu. The non-profit ICANN organization (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is in the process of approving up to 1,400 domain extensions from the 22 currently available.

Traditionally, technology companies bid for the right to acquire these domain names and Dominion Powersports Solution was the winner of the exclusive rights to sell the domain extension .motorcycles. It means that domain registrars like GoDaddy will need to contract with Dominion and observe Dominion’s rules and regulations in order to offer URLs with the .motorcycles domain extension. The addition of new activity specific domains is intended to help internet users with a more personalized search experience and consequently to offer website owners with an improved online visibility.

Polaris Vice President Mark Blackwell Announced His Retirement

M.BlackwellMark Blackwell, the Vice President for Polaris Industries, announced his retirement to be effective at the end of 1st quarter of 2014. Mark Blackwell was a leading rider in the early days of motocross in the United States during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He won the 1971 American 500cc Motocross title (a predecessor of today’s AMA National Motocross Championship) by being the top-scoring American in the Trans-AMA Series. He also scored a victory in the 500cc motocross class at Daytona International Speedway in 1972.

Confederate Motorcycles Unveils The 2015 C2 P-51 Fighter

Confederate1Confederate2A marketing choice, very few Confederate motorcycles are sold each year. Still, every 18 months or so, Confederate Motorcycles unveil a new outlandish model mixing aluminum, stainless steel, titanium and carbon fiber into a very futuristic contraption.

This one, called the C2 P-51 Fighter was created for Confederate by Pierre Terblanche, a former Ducati designer. Speaking of his creation Terblanche hints about weight saving improvements by shaving off the billet v-twin engine (thanks to a new billet aluminum crankcase along with new cylinders, barrel heads and valve covers. A new downdraft injection system will also allow the C2 P-51 Fighter to have more power.

Starting June 2014, Confederate would like to build 31 units. Price is to be announced, but I am pretty sure that for around $100,000 you can secure one. Is it worth the price? As Confederate Motorcycles president and philosopher Matt Chambers will tell you “The Fighter is about your unique existential journey. It exists to inform and nurture your way…”

B.A.D.D. Bikers Against Drunk Drivers. Too Bad A Charity To Give To?

badd1On November 30, 2013, under the headline “How Does BADD (Bikers Against Drunk Drivers) Spends Your Money”, I published the main findings reported by Orlando WESH TV regarding the activities of this bikers charity and what is alleged to be a very poor return of benefits to injured bikers versus the amount of dollars raised. In substance, WESH TV claims that B.A.D.D. enrich charity founder Danny Perkins via his own Canadian promotion company more than it benefits those who are victims of drunk drivers. WESH TV also reported that Florida state officials (from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which oversees charities) have opened their own investigation into the activities of B.A.D.D.

As soon as they read my article, faithful readers Mike Infanzon and Mikey Biggus (Co-host of Monkey Butt Radio) invited Danny Perkins, who accepted, to answer their questions. I watched and listened to the interview and was quite disappointed when I observed that Mr.Perkins spent almost all his air time evading all the important questions and instead was making long speeches about himself to demonstrate how great a businessman he is by listing (outside of B.A.D.D) his personal commercial successes and financial accomplishments. His motto seems to be “I love myself. So, you should love me too.” A couple of times, Perkins stated that he would make specific answers off air (why?), something that of course that I didn’t believe. And I was right…(see Open Ed below))

Following his interview of Danny Perkins, radio co-host Biggus tried to stay in contact with Perkins to get the answers he could not get while on air. Disappointed he could not get them, he wrote the Op-Ed that I publish below this intro. I must mention that the purpose of The Cyril Huze Post is to factually report on the most interesting motorcycle industry news (bikes, products, people, events) and on all issues that may affect bikers in one way or another. This daily magazine, nor I personally, take position on allegations made by third parties, nor do I seek to confirm or verify the accuracy of these third-party allegations or their merits. However, some issues and their nature warrant making some information I am aware of available to all my readers. In this particular case, it’s up to you to determine if such information is relevant to your decision to contribute to this B.A.D.D. charity organization. For a good independent watchdog of charities, I recommend going to Charity Navigator.

badd4B.A.D.D. (Bikers Against Drunk Drivers): A Real Charity Or Just A Commercial Business Playing On Emotion? An Op-Ed by Mikey Biggus

Giving To B.A.D.D or not to B.A.D.D.? That is the question.

“Over the last few months there has been scathing internet activity as to whether the founder of B.A.D.D., Danny Perkins, was acting ethically in the way he ran the “charity”. Some are saying that the B.A.D.D. founder needed to have the smack down laid upon him. In the interest of innocent until proven guilty we, the hosts of Monkey Butt Radio, Mike and Biggus, invited Mr. Perkins on the show to allow him a chance to clear the air and defend himself against the accusations of misleading the biker community while making a lot of money.

Keep in mind that neither Mike nor I are investigative journalists, nor do we have the resources to pursue the issue full time. That being said we have been able to notice some red flags in our look at the situation. Premier motorcycle blogger, Cyril Huze, and his readers have also brought up a lot of points. See his Blog Post from November 30, 2013. Check out the comments and you will get a pretty clear picture of the internet’s verdict. Let me start with the red flags that I have been drawn to during this endeavor.

RED FLAG #1: Evasiveness. During the on-air interview, Perkins was given the opportunity to tell his story but it seemed to your hosts that the story was intentionally directed away from B.A.D.D. and towards his accomplishments as a promoter. During the later segments, when Perkins was asked direct questions by me, his answers were vague. To counter this vagueness, I asked Perkins if he would be willing to have an off air interview at which time he would be able to provide actual amount in the “B.A.D.D. emergency fund” as well as other questions about the B.A.D.D. assets mentioned in the article by Matt Grant. After an on air request and two emailed request, Mr. Perkins stated that he was advised by his lawyer to not say anything to anyone. The exact verbiage from his email “Mike. Word from the lawyers…..Keep my mouth shut !!! So thats about it until the criminal investigation against my ex staff member is done with. I will keep you posted” Continue reading ‘B.A.D.D.
