Metzeler Tyres took a very interesting and admirable initiative. Gifting enough tires to help all members of MOCLA (the Cuban Club Of Classical Motorbikes composed of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts) enough tires in all sizes so that they continue to ride around the Island. Since the Cuban revolution and the 1962 American embargo it has been impossible to acquire replacement parts. Only about 100 of the 1000’s of Harley-Davidson’s which once rumbled proudly across the island still remain, nearly all of them now ridden by full-fledge members of the MOCLA. Considering the vintage age of these machines, Metzeler has shipped to MOCLA an assortment of 15”, 16” and 18” ME880 tyres from its diverse range of over 75 sizes, in order to guarantee the right fitments. The ME880 is Metzeler’s premium touring tire dedicated to upgrading the ride experience aboard Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Continue reading ‘Metzeler Keeping Cuban Harley-Davidson Riders Rolling’

“With summer in full swing, I find myself spending more and more time in motorcycle rally port-a-potties. This is an unfortunate trend, to say the least, as I find the port-a-potty to be one of the more unpleasant places to be, especially with your pants down.
The rally environment is filled with all sorts of elements that lead to the need to use, and abuse the port-a-potty. When one considers the spicy sausage smothered with onions and peppers, the fried dough, the pulled pork with beans and the copious amounts of beer, it is easy to see how the port-a-potty becomes such a hellacious place. The by-products of this food and drink are deposited by thousands of rally goers in an above ground plastic cube and left to bake in high double digit sun which leads to low triple digit temperatures inside of the cube and a rendering of the by-products that no amount of blue water can suppress. We have all been there; you know what I am talking about. Continue reading ‘Motorcycle Rally Bathroom Etiquette’

I had the issue several times and I know you too. You try to upgrade a stock Harley clutch and you end up with a very heavy clutch pull, making your riding experience very uncomfortable, even painful in long traffic wait and go situations. The reasonyou’re your trouble? The multiplicity of clutch spring combinations confusing even many professionals. On a non-Harley bike with a bigger displacement engine or using a supercharger or turbocharger, the confusion increases exponentially because a clutch should be chosen depending of your motor torque. Seth Doulton has produced rodeos, car, truck and motorcycle shows coast to coast during 25 years. When he took on the job 3 years ago of bringing back Hollister he knew he had a big job ahead of him. But never thought that the city would not realize the financial benefit of this rally. Since August last year bikers and vendors alike have been telling him to forget about Hollister! “They don’t want our money… We don’t want to give them a dime”. With that said he has been looking for a new place. Tulelake-Butte Valley Faifgrounds, in North California where he will be in charge of the 2nd Annual Shasta Salute to America Motorcycle Rally. It will be a 3 ½ day event (July 3-6th), and tickets are already for sale by going to Shasta Salute To America Motorcycle Rally. 4 nights/3 days is only $50 and 24 hr daily passes are $20.

Usually, Lemon Law applies when there is a vehicle defect or condition, which substantially impairs its use, value or safety, and when this condition can’t be repaired after 3 attempts by an authorized manufacturer’s dealership. This nonconformity must first occur within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Last weekend I was very surprised to learn that not all States protect the consumer with a Cars Lemon Law. Then, that the definition of a Lemon is not the same from state to State. Then again that States not having a Lemon Law use its grandfather law called “The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act”. Finally, nobody around me being able to tell me precisely if motorcycles are covered under the Lemon Law, I made an Internet search and was surprised again by the results I got. Follow the following link to find out how your State would treat your defective motorcycle. State By State Lemon Law.

For more than 50 years, there have been no significant changes in the design of the disc brake. You already know that the 360 Brake System utilizes a circular piston and pads activated by hydraulic pressure to deliver 360 degrees of braking power to the rotor. Since 1 year the company offers a new version of its brake with a new grooved and vented rotor offering superior airflow to the brake. Few know that the new system was tested in controlled conditions against a rigorous testing protocol based on the FM VSS 122 DOT test, and in some instances exceeded this protocol by over 100%. But I know that you have a lot of other questions. For example. Data about stopping distance? What about heat? Can I install it myself? What model bikes will the brake work with? How long the pads last? Etc… 360 Brake created a new website page where all these questions are answered. To learn more jump to 360 Brake FAQ.

The controversy started on LinkedIn, the business oriented social network website used for business networking. A member of one of the motorcycle groups featured in this website, Louise Ann Noeth, a.k.a. as “Landspeed Louise” for her years of coverage of the dry lakes scene, explains that Jesse James claim that he set the world record for hydrogen-powered vehicles on June 16th on the southern California El Mirage Dry Lake is without merit. The reasons advanced are that 1- the activities were conducted without benefit of any motorsports sanctioning authority. 2- the vehicle was not inspected, nor certified and all the timing personnel were on the James TV payroll. She explains that all world land speed records require 2 runs over a 1 mile course within 1 hour and that Jesse was timed only one way on a total of 132 feet, short of 5148 feet, and that he made 3 passes over an 8-hour period. I continue to get the question over and over from many prominent members of the US motorcycle industry. Is it worth trying to export to Europe? And my answer is yes, yes, yes. The end of the world only comes once and I’m pretty certain this isn’t it. That means that stocks and bonds and real estate and jobs and business activity will all bounce back eventually in the US. But during this time on the other side of the big pond most European countries, at the exception of England & Spain, are living a very mild recession when you compare to the United States. From Troy At Accutronix.
“Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.
The man at the counter asked the older boy, “Son, how old are you?”
”Eight,” the boy replied.
The man continued, “Do you know what these are used for?”
The boy replied, “Not exactly, but they aren’t for me. They’re for him. He’s my brother. He’s four. We saw on TV that if you use these you would be able to swim and ride a bike. Right now, he can’t do either.”
