The 5th Indian Day, a revival of a long-standing celebration of the classic motorcycles that were manufactured in the city Of Springfield, MA from 1901 to 1953 will be held on July 20th on the grounds of the Springfield Museums. Indian Day is about showing people the great variety of Indian Motocycles made and telling the story about what was once the largest motorcycle company in the world,” said, Guy McLain, director of the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History. Custom Shovelhead. More Beautiful When Naked.
Published by July 14th, 2014 in Builders, Customs and Editorial. On June 28th, as soon as I published postcards from the Magic Bike Rudesheim Bike Show, I received an unusual number of emails requesting a feature on “The Virus”, the custom bike winner of both the highly competitive Radical Class and absolute Best Of Show of the competition. Immediately I contacted Bike Show organizer, friend of the industry and photographer Horst Roesler who gifted me, and you, with this set of studio pictures.
if well designed, I like all types of custom motorcycles. But without consideration of the bike purpose – from short city stints to long distance touring, my taste leans more on the naked than on the fully clothed style. In addition, mixing old or classic parts with modern technology has been proven by many builders as producing exquisite custom motorcycles that 3 generations of bikers from Millenials to Generation X to Baby Boomers are embracing together. Old School Ribbed Primary Cover For Softail Twin Cam Models
Published by July 10th, 2014 in Customs, Driveline and Editorial.Nothing wrong with the Harley factory primary cover of its Softail Twin Cam models. Except it’s somewhat boring with a “flat” design that has been used since so many years. If you want to add some bad-ass character and old school styling to the left side of your recent Softail, the Snatch cover is an excellent option.
Ribbed like yesteryear’s H-D Ironheads, the Snatch Primary-Cover is made out of die cast aluminum and offered in 4 finishes: raw, black, semi-polished and black cut. It will bolt-on on all 07-Up Softail Twin-Cam models and can re-use your stock hardware. Replacement Seals Kit is not included and can be ordered from the same company. Matching Snatch Rocker Boxes also available for H-D Twin Cam and Evo models. Order online at EMD USA.
Harley-Davidson Is Recalling 66,421 Touring and CVO Touring Motorcycles 2014 Model Year . Will The Stock Get Punished?
Published by July 10th, 2014 in Builders, Editorial and Events.A total of 66,421 Touring and CVO Touring motorcycles from the 2014 model year are recalled because their front wheels can lock up without warning. These motorcycles with antilock brake system were built between July 1, 2013, and May 7, 2014.
Harley-Davidson says the front brake line can get pinched between the fuel tank and the frame. That could cause front brake fluid pressure to increase, raising the risk that the front wheel could lock up while riding. The company knows of 5 crashes and 2 minor injuries related to the defect which it discovered last fall through warranty claims. Harley-Davidson will notify owners later this month. Dealers will replace the brake line for free and attach straps to hold it in place. Continue reading ‘Harley-Davidson Is Recalling 66,421 Touring and CVO Touring Motorcycles 2014 Model Year . A local father put his 3 year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which ended with her saying, in that sweet
little voice, “God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma and good-bye Grandpa.” The father asked, ‘Why did you say good-bye Grandpa?’… The little girl said, “I don’t know daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do.” The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.
A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers which went like this, “God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and good-bye Grandma.” The next day the grandmother died. “Holy crap” thought the father, “this kid is in contact with ‘the other side’.” Continue reading ‘Joke Of The Week’

2015 Harley-Davidson Lineup Will See The Return Of A Fully Updated Road Glide And The Introduction Of A New Trike Model. Absent in the 2014 model year lineup, the Harley-Davidson Road Glide is set to make a return as a 2015 model with important styling revisions. A very popular model with the Street Glide, the Road Glide is returning with a fairing still mounted on the frame (by opposition to the Street Glide where fairing is mounted on the forks), but fully redesigned with LED dual headlight and ergonomics to reduce helmet buffeting and “beard lift”. The new 2015 Road Glide will integrate many of the features introduced with the 2014 Harley Touring Rushmore models. A new trike with a more naked look and probably called “The Freewheeler” should also be unveiled. The 2015 full lineup will be introduced at the H-D Dealers meeting August 25-28.
The Ride To Indian And Victory 2015 Model Year Reveal Has Began. In 3 weeks, both brands are going to officially release their new models. As far as I know the news are going to be very exciting. Indian will deliver tiny bits of information on July 12, 19 and 27 with a reveal in Sturgis (and here in my website) August 2nd. Stay tuned for a summer full of news.
July Is The Cruelest Month For Motorcycle Riders. July had the most motorcycle accidents of any month in 2013 according to five years of data compiled by Progressive insurance. Ohio-based Progressive, the largest seller of motorcycle insurance, said the data also showed that Mondays had the most motorcycle claims and thefts of any day of the week. That may be because the incidents that took place over the weekend were not processed or reported until the start of the work week. Scott Hall, Progressive’s motorcycle product manager, said bikers should pay close attention to their surroundings to spot any potentially dangerous situations. “Particularly in heavily-wooded areas with animals and at intersections,” Hall said. “Be cognizant of riding in blind spots of cars and trucks since you’re so much lower to the ground,” he said.
