Last week, we took some friends to a new restaurant, and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket. Then I looked around and saw that all the staff had spoons in their pockets. When the waiter came back to serve our soup I inquired, ‘Why the spoon?’ ‘Well, ‘he explained,’the restaurant’s owner hired Andersen Consulting to revamp all of our processes. After several months of analysis, they concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil. It represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. If our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift.’
As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he replaced it with his spare. ‘I’ll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of making an extra trip to get it right now.’ I was impressed. Continue reading ‘Joke Of The Week’

Breaking News. Harley-Davidson Unveils 2 More New Models To The Harley-Davidson 2014 Line-Up. The SuperLow 1200T and the Low Rider.
Published by March 6th, 2014 in Builders, Editorial and Events.Fresh off the unveiling of the new Harley-Davidson Street™ 750 and the launch of Project RUSHMORE, the company unleashed today two new motorcycles that expand its diverse line-up of street bikes, and put more models for more riders on the showroom floor of each Harley-Davidson dealer. The mid-year release of the retro-cool Low Rider® and rangy SuperLow® 1200T completes the largest new-model launch in Harley-Davidson’s 110-year history.
“It’s been a fantastic six months for us,” said Matt Levatich, Harley-Davidson Motor Company President and Chief Operating Officer. “First Project RUSHMORE, then Harley-Davidson Street, now the new SuperLow 1200T and Low Rider models — all are the result of being customer led and delivering riders the technical prowess and rebellious spirit that they want infused in each and every new Harley.”
The Return Of The Rebellious Dyna Low Rider (top picture)
In 1977, Harley-Davidson created a ride-it-hard, put-it-away dirty, make-your-own-boundaries custom motorcycle that became an icon – the Low Rider. Today that defiant attitude returns with a vengeance as the legendary Low Rider model name is reprised for an all-new cruiser that rolls with old-school class and exciting new performance. A polished headlamp visor, wrinkle black trim, and split five-spoke aluminum wheels are touchstone styling elements from the original Low Rider model.
The unrelenting thrust of the Twin Cam 103™ powertrain signals departure with a satisfying, throaty tone through twisting header pipes feeding a 2-into-1 exhaust. Suspension is calibrated for all-day comfort and precise handling, while dual-front disc brakes deliver capable stopping power. The new adjustable seat and handlebar risers enable a perfect fit for more riders. Ample Genuine Motor Accessories offer endless possibilities for self-expression, so any rider can own the look and own the road. Continue reading ‘Breaking News. Harley-Davidson Looking To Put Japan On Trikes
Published by March 6th, 2014 in Builders, Editorial and Events. There are 80 million people in Japan with a car driver’s license. And since you just need a car driver’s license to ride a trike (categorized as a car), it’s a huge potential market for any 3-wheel manufacturer.
Japan is already Harley’s second largest market (5 million people hold a motorcycle license), but thanks to 2 decades of economic turmoil and to an aging population, 2-wheeler sales have declined each year during the past 26 years (2013 Harley sales in Japan are up 1%.)
To grow its market Harley-Davidson is now aggressively marketing the Tri Glide model sold in Japan at the price of 4 million yens, or about 39,000 US dollars.

2014 Daytona Bike Week Commemorative Painting. Daytona Dollies By David Uhl.
Published by March 5th, 2014 in Editorial and Painters.Since 2005, artist David Uhl has offered each year a special piece for Daytona Bike Week. This year, David is offering two different pieces for Bike Week. And one of them is “Daytona Dollies” (discover the other one at Uhl’s display at Destination Daytona Harley-Davidson in Ormond Beach, right outside the front door from March 6 to 16.
“Daytona Dollies” was composed from a photograph David secured the rights to from a German archive (German Newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung). As David states: “hence the 1922 European-looking girls. I considered it quite a wonderful find, so I painted it in a fashion to respect the quality of its time period. I tried putting more modern model type of women in but it looked wrong. I also wanted to paint it in a vintage palate to keep its roots firmly in antiquity.”
The “Daytona Dollies” come in two different sizes: Image size 20″ x 26.5″, framed price $895. Image size 30″ x 40″, framed price $2,250. Signed and numbered canvas prints are now available for purchase at special Rally pricing through the end of Bike Week (March 16th). These Fine Art prints will come framed with a commemorative plaque and a Certificate of Authenticity. David will also include shipping within the contiguous 48 United States for orders placed within that time frame.
Edition numbers will be assigned as orders are taken and matching numbers are available for those who are adding to their Daytona Series. To reserve your Daytona piece this year call Greg Rhodes at 303-913-4840.

The English Bulldog is popularly used to represent England or the United Kingdom. And this motorcycle named Bulldog s quite representative of the work of north Suffolk, UK based Old Empire Motorcycles. A custom, like their other creations, not born to conform and follow a specific and unique school of thoughts and design, but instead marrying several influences on the same chassis. In this case, adding some sport bike touches to retro classic bobber styling. Not easy when your canvas is a 1998 Yamaha Virago VX 535, a donor bike chosen only because it has been languishing too long in a corner of the shop.
For what is now his 7th creation, 25-year old Alec Sharp took inspiration from a real Bulldog – not the dog – but a famous 1920’s British Royal Air Force single-seat biplane fighter. The idea was to express the same stocky but strong appearance. We all know that with unlimited time and money one can turn everything in anything. But Old Empire Motorcycles is still a young small shop without the luxury of no deadline and of no budget limit. So, when you fire the cutting disc you better off be right at the your 1st try. And it’s where is the merit of this bike. Done fast, right, turning an un-loved stock motorcycle into something many of you would love to keep in their garage for trips around town and weekend blasts. Continue reading ‘English Bulldog’
