US Motorcycle Sales Sharply Up in September. Only 1% For Year To Date. According to the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) September on-highway motorcycle sales jumped 16.1% versus same month last year for a total of 26,110 units. Year to date (September 30), motorcycle sales are up only 1% for a total of 274,578 sold units. Off-highway motorcycles surged, up 9.4% to 55,802 units sold year-to-date. Dual motorcycle sales are up about 8% for the month and year-to-date. More than 25,000 dual sport motorcycles were sold through September 30t. ATV sales are steady year-over-year with a 0.9% increase to 164,321 units. Scooter sales declined, down 6.4% for September and down 16.7% year-to-date. The motorcycle segment, both including and excluding ATV’s, were up 0.9 percent year-to-date through Sept. 30. By the end of the third quarter of the year, 549,577 motorcycles and ATVs were sold.

New Screamin’ Eagle® Tappets (P/N 18572-13, $249.95) from Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Accessories® are designed to deliver superior tappet life in high-performance Harley-Davidson Twin Cam and Sportster engine applications. Large, high-capacity needles in the roller bearing assembly improve reliability when operating with high-lift cams, high-pressure valve springs, and in high-RPM applications.
The needle bearings are 25 percent larger to increase the dynamic load rating by approximately 20 percent when compared to the Original Equipment Twin Cam tappets. Intrust Bank started foreclosure proceedings on Sheldon Coleman Jr, personally and several of his corporate entities including the buildings where Big Dog Motorcycles was housed until its closure in 2011 and the building where BDM Performance Products, the company founded after the demise of Big Dog Motorcycles, was doing e-commerce of custom parts and gear for Big Dog and Harley motorcycles. In the suit, Intrust Bank is seeking to recover a total of $20 million on 6 different loans. Named defendants are: Sheldon Coleman, individually, the Sheldon Coleman Living Trust, Waterview Holdings, Waterview Realty, CD Investment Partnership, Big Dog Motorcycles, Motorcycle Enterprises, BDM SC and Wichita Motorcycles. Rossmeyer’s Closing Beach Street Daytona Museum, Store And Diner

Today Thursday october 31, 2013 at 5 p.m., the Rossmeyer’s family is closing its store/museum/diner location at 290 North Beach Street in Daytona. In 1994, the building became the site of the original official Rossmeyer’s Of Daytona Harley-Davidson dealership until 2011 when it became only a Bruce Rossmeyer/Harley-Davidson museum/merchandise store with diner. The museum is moving to Destination Daytona in north Ormond Beach where it will be on the second floor of the Harley-Davidson dealership building. The Beach Street diner’s owners, Linda Toffolon and Bill Eve, sub-tenants of the original Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson, are looking for a new location. During this coming “Lone Star Rally” (October 31st – November 3rd), David Uhl will release his new painting named “Lone Ranger”. It was inspired by the lovely Paige Wyatt from the recent Discovery Channel hit show, American Guns. David pays tribute to the rich history of the Texas Rangers, the oldest state law enforcement body in the U.S.
Since Paige Wyatt’s father, Rich Wyatt is such an avid collector of Texas Ranger memorabilia and antique firearms, David outfitted her to represent a Ranger in the late ’30’s. Talking with my friends about the future of the motorcycle industry, very often the conversation slides to which recreational vehicle company is going to perform the best? It continues to surprise many that in this economic environment, both Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG), Polaris (NYSE: PII) and Arctic Cat also selling snowmobiles, ATV’s & UTV’s (NASDAQ: ACAT) are performing extremely well.
Just look at the chart below. All 3 companies have rewarded its investors handsomely, Polaris more than the others, the stock being up an outstanding 533.3% since 2004 and much more if you bought its stock in 2009 when the US was panicking. Future? Of course, nobody knows for sure… (On top left is each stock last quote as of Friday October 25, 2013.)

It is conceived to prevent both wheels from slipping when the bike is leaning right or left and from righting when braking in a curve. Rick’s “Good Guys” Adjustable Clutch And Brake Levers

Rick’s Motorcycles released its first adjustable hand control levers in 2012. The new version features a slightly modified design to minimize tolerance and wear while providing the same lever force on both clutch and brake sides. Lever force can be adjusted at the easy-to-access button at the pivot point, even while riding, with levers offered in short or long versions with exchangeable tips.
