Simple And Affordable Motorcycle Wheel Package

After a multi-year wave of motorcycle wheels whose designs were getting so complicated that they almost look like the mechanism of our watches, the industry is back to pure and simple ones. Consequently, and because less machining is being involved, custom wheels are getting more and more affordable. This approach is adopted by many, including Couture Wheels releasing a new line of “economy” wheels with a design that will not distract your eyes from the overall look of your bike.
This model called Rally is sold 1,650.00 for a complete set in chrome including 2 wheels in the size of 16 X 3.5 or 18 X 3.5, and 2 rotors, 1 pulley, assembled with all necessary hardware. The wheel sets come with a 2 year warranty on chrome and lifetime structural warranty.
Couture Wheels states that all their wheels are tested for fatigue failure to ensure that they produce a quality wheel for a lifetime of service. Couture Wheels.

From Harley Rocker To Harley Chopper By An Official Harley-Davidson Dealer

Most of you will not build a bike from the ground up, just customize their stock Harley (although some projects need you to strip down the bike to bare frame…). And me I love to be aware of a nice custom Harley built by an official Harley-Davidson dealer. Less and less frequent in the US. Maybe foreign dealers have or feel that they have more freedom in experimenting beyond the factory limitations. Sturgis Glencoe Camp Resort. Rock N’ Roll Festival Confirmed.

Rumors were running that the Glencoe Camp Resort had canceled all band performances during the Sturgis Rally. Owner Sean Clark denied all these rumors this morning in an interview with the Rapid City Journal.

“A change in stage configuration for two headlining bands during a show on the Friday night of the rally and a renegotiation of terms caused the delay, which could have caused the rumor of cancellation” said Daniel E Catullo III, co-founder of DC3 Global Production, which organizes the Glencoe shows.

Music Festival headliners include very successful alternative Rock N’ Roll bands like Godsmack, Creed, Stone Temple Pilots, 3 Door Down, etc. 40,000 visitors are expected every night. Glencoe Camp Resort claims to be the largest campground in the world. Available accomodations and concerts schedule by jumping to Glencoe Camp Resort.

David Uhl’s 70th Sturgis Rally Commemorative Painting

You all know that this year is the 70th edition of the Black Hills Rally commonly called Sturgis Bike Week. In 1936, Clarence “Pappy” Hoel started an Indian dealership in Sturgis and formed the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club.

Two years later, the City of Sturgis joined forces with the Jackpine Gypsies to hold the first “rally” (known as the Black Hills Classic) which was highlighted by the championship half-mile race.  David’s subject in “70 & Counting”, is a member of a motorcycle club at the time, on her way to the inaugural festivities when she stops near Devil’s Tower to get her bearings.  We can only imagine that her new cowboy friend wishes she would stay longer!   Continue reading ‘David Uhl’s 70th Sturgis Rally Commemorative Painting’

Exclusive. An Open Letter To My Readers From John White, CEO Of Hoka Hey Motor Company

Yesterday evening July 10, 2010, John White, who is a reader of my Blog, posted a very long comment (more of an open letter) below my morning post “Hoka Hey Challenge. The Questions Asked To Jim Red Cloud Durham“. I immediately informed John that I will re- publish as is his writing as a formal post so that none of my readers could miss his answers to the questions that many have asked. It’s about the nature of the relation(s) between Jim Durham organizer of the Hoka Hey Challenge and John White, CEO of Hoka Hey Motors Company.

From John White,

“I was not aware of the Hoka Hey Challenge until 28 days before the Challenge began. I called the organizers, namely Jim Red Cloud, and asked for permission for our motorcycles to enter the race. He asked me our company name and when I said it was Crazy Horse Motorcycles LLC he told me I needed to fly to Pine Ridge and meet with him directly. I did not ask why. I got on the plane. I love teaser campaigns, but when you build one, you are better off not to disappoint when your product is revealed. Continue reading ‘New Triumph Motorcycles Teaser Marketing Campaign’

Solo Rider Best Friend. Hide Away Passenger Pegs.

Yes, a motorcycle (with the exception of touring bikes) always looks better  with a solo seat and no passenger pegs. But there are some people we want to give a ride to (or feel obliged to!)

Resolving the issue of keeping a pretty bike without compromising your very important social life, here come the hide-away pegs

You see them, you no more see them. These pegs slide out when your company accepts the lift, lock and stay in position for sturdy support during the ride, and retract when you ride solo again.

A clean and very useful part that you can bolt on any frame equipped with a cross seat support bar. Peg diameter is 1″, 10″ 3/4 when retracted, 18″ extended. .

$195.00 the set. For sale online at Gravesend Cycles.

Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. The Questions Asked To Big Jim “Red Cloud” Durham.

Again, congratulations to all participants of the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. No doubt that it has been an up lifting experience for many, if not all. Still many, participants. family, friends and observers have charged since before the start in Key West that this event was a scam and that the winner may never be named, so the prize of $500,000 never given away.

All the Web is buzzing with allegations and unanswered questions. I summarize below all those I have found on different websites, blogs and social networks. Add your own questions, if any, in comments below my post. You never know. Maybe Jim Durham or his representatives will answer at least to some. It takes nothing away from the participants to ask these questions. And the list is long…

How many participants paid the $1000 fee to participate to the Challenge? Why did you said in a meeting before the start that you lied to the participants to have as many as possible in Key West to participate to the Challenge? List these lies that you know have made to the participants, and also to sponsors and charities if any? Continue reading ‘Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. The Questions Asked To Big Jim “Red Cloud” Durham.’

How To Build A Cheap Chopper With A XS-650 Yamaha Engine

You loved the cool small chopper built using a Yamaha Xs-650 donor bike that I have featured during this last month. XS-650’s are widely available on eBay and elsewhere, are still relatively cheap and have the same minimalistic cool vibe that you get from the old Triumphs and BSA’s. So, are you ready to build a cheap chopper without breaking the bank? Using the stock front end, wheels, brakes etc., a person can build a super-fine ride for less than $5000 in parts! Follows the list and where to get the parts you will need… Continue reading ‘How To Build A Cheap Chopper With A XS-650 Yamaha Engine’

New High Tech Girder Front End

Which style of front end are you going to pick for your next custom? Glide, Hydraulic, Springer or Girder? The first 3 styles are so popular that they can get quite boring to the eye. Designed properly a Girder offers a interesting appearance and good performance. Depending of your project you can go vintage style  like the girders equipping the Indian motorcycles in the 30’s and 40’s and since then perfected many times by Earl and Paul Durfee. Or you can go the high tech style with offerings from a couple of companies, and now this new offering from RoosteR Custom Cycles. Continue reading ‘New High Tech Girder Front End’

Fast Motorcycle Industry News

1- Jesse James WCC Long Beach facility. Got several emails asking me if West Coast Choppers was closing or closed. Contacted Jesse. He immediately replied to me: “That is just people talking smack! We have to much work to close. Wishful thoughts by our competition!” End of the rumor

2- Honda to sharply cut motorcycle prices. At least first in Japan. The company plans to slash the prices of all the motorcycles it sells domestically to 2000 levels! In an effort to halt young people’s growing disinterest in motorcycles, Honda will cut the prices of about 45 models over three years, when each undergoes a full or minor model change. Prices are likely to fall by 10 percent to 30 percent. The price-cutting strategy by Honda- an industry leader – is likely to affect other motorcycle companies. Now imagine that Honda applies the same strategy in the US, what the competition will decide? Continue reading ‘Fast Motorcycle Industry News’

Sexy Custom Bikes And Hot Running Models

Is it too soon to buy a 2011 calendar? No, and for at least 2 reasons. First these 2 calendars feature a full 16-months starting in September preceding the cover year. Second, it’s never too soon to “rejuvenate” your office or garage with sexy pictures of the top custom winning v-twin motorcycles of the year and of the top models posing with them. Photographed and published every year by Jim Gianatsis (among other activities, producer of the Los Angeles Motorcycle Show held in July and a well known fashion and motorsports photographer) these 2 calendars are without any doubt the most (looking for my words)  inspiring calendars you can ever hang next to your desk or the place where you work on your bike. Jim’s slogan? “Killer No Filler”… Continue reading ‘Sexy Custom Bikes And Hot Running Models’
