Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson Planning Its 20th Anniversary. Relocating Beach Street Museum.
Published by May 23rd, 2013 in Editorial and Events.Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson celebrates its 20th Anniversary with the scheduled move of the Museum Store to Destination Daytona and the re-opening of its Main Street Harley-Davidson store. Currently, the company operates three locations in Volusia County including Daytona Harley-Davidson at Destination Daytona, the Beach Street H-D Museum Store, and New Smyrna Harley-Davidson.
“As the Museum evolved, we received very positive feedback from our local customers and visitors to the area including the suggestion to expand the experience by adding more to look at and a greater selection of merchandise to buy. As such, we decided to move the Museum inside our store at Destination Daytona in order to accomplish both objectives – more entertainment and more merchandise located under one roof. Our company is also approaching the end of its 20-year lease at Beach Street so the timing is right. In addition, we want to maintain a presence in Daytona Beach’s Main Street area so we plan to re-open our store at 510 Main Street,” says Shelly Rossmeyer Pepe, General Manager.
The company plans to commemorate its 20th Anniversary with celebrations and events with customers, friends, and the community throughout 2014. For more information, visit Bruce Rossmeyer

Why females should avoid a girls night out after they are married:
The other night I was invited out for a night with the “girls.” I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, “I promise!” Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easily. Around 3 a.m., (a bit loaded), I headed for home. Just …………as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hallway started up and cuckooed 3 times.
Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with him. (Even when totally smashed… 3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals 12 cuckoos = MIDNIGHT !) Continue reading ‘Joke Of The Week’

Indian Motorcycle Will Go To India In 2014 To Take On Harley-Davidson. As expected, Indian Motorcycle will aggressively venture beyond the US to push volumes and sees India as a key market. The brand name has no link with India. Originally called the ‘American Indian’, the name was inspired by America’s indigenous tribe, the Red Indians. The name was later shortened to ‘Indian’. Within 3 years of entering India, rival Harley-Davidson sold over 1,325 units in 2012, growing its sales 178 per cent from 476 units a year before. Polaris India Managing Director Pankaj Dubey confirmed that the company was planning to launch the Indian brand in the country next year but declined to elaborate on the plans. Apart from India, Polaris intends to take the Indian brand to China as well.

More Motorcycle and Scooter Riders On the Road on Monday, June 17th This Year. The 22nd annual worldwide Ride to Work Day is expected to be one of the largest-ever, according to Ride to Work, the non-profit organization that coordinates this annual event. In the United States, over 80 million cars and light trucks are used for daily commuting, and only about 200,000 motorcycles and scooters are a usually part of this mix. On Ride to Work Day a much higher number of America’s 8,000,000 cycles and scooters are ridden to work. Some estimates put the numbers of added riders at over 1,000,000. Studies have shown that across equal distances, commuting rider can reach their destinations more quickly — in up to 20% less time than those using automobiles — and that motorcycles and scooters consume less resources per person per mile, and that they take up less space on roads. Motorcycle and scooter riders seek improved employer support for this form of transportation, and more public and government awareness about the societally-positive benefits of riding. The Ride to Work website includes forum areas, merchandise, information, and free promotional support materials. Who Will Be The New Indian Motorcycle Dealers?
Published by May 16th, 2013 in Builders, Editorial, Events and Videos.Whatever the desirability of any new motorcycle model, dealership experience is essential to the success of any brand. So, you may wonder what type of distribution Indian Motorcycle is pursuing and what type of retail experience the company is currently trying to build?
When in 2011 Polaris acquired Indian Motorcycle, there was a total of 14 Indian dealers, all bringing capital for the store, equipment and merchandising. A very costly investment and a strategy that didn’t work very well due to the low sales volume of the Kings Mountain Indian Chiefs launched at the worst time of our US recession. Rod Krois, director of marketing at the Medina, MN-based company already stated that the Indian Motorcycle goal is around 400 retail points in 2014. Although the focus is right now on North America, he also mentioned that the Indian expansion will be global as well.
So, what type of dealers? Not following the single brand line strategy of Harley-Davidson stores. Instead, developing a specific to Indian retail environment within multi-brand stores. A distribution choice relying on the ability of each dealer to create the great brand experience Indian is looking for. Which one? Exactly the same as the new Indian model (s) will be all about: to honor the brand’s historic legacy and provide riders with top quality services and products inside the dealership. And if it would not work the way Indian intends? The only other choice would be to ask potential dealers to bring serious capital in store investment to have the right to carry the Indian brand.
