This custom motorcycle was built by OCC’s Paul Senior for the 35th anniversary of Hair Club®, a specialist of hair restoration. Same talent, just another year. Artist David Uhl just released its 7th Daytona commemorative piece called “Ready To rally”. For this 70th edition (March 4-13, 2011) David painted a beautiful lady biker front of Daytona Harley-Davidson on Beach Street, readying her machine for a next leg in and around the city.
In David’s words.
“This being the anniversary year for the rally, I wanted to paint a subject that was very rally specific. Looking over the last six years of my Daytona Commemorative pieces, I realized that there was not a “Bike Week” depiction in the whole group. So this year I thought it appropriate to create a work that represented a sight that would most certainly grab your attention while you were cruising the streets. This is my favorite model Elizabeth and she will be with us at Destination Daytona in Ormond Beach on the 11th and 12th to meet and greet all those who care to stop by and say hello”. 1- Harley-Davidson Bikes To Be Built From The Ground Up In India? Going from imported bikes to India to imported kits assembled locally saved a lot of money in Tariffs to Harley-Davidson. Now, 2 India magazines (Indian Express and Indian Cars Bikes) are reporting that Harley will be upgrading its India plant to be able to manufacture complete bikes from the ground up. Expected, many will comment. Lowering manufacturing costs using local manpower (and no unions) is estimated to allow a consumer price reduction of 40%, widening Harley market opportunities not only in India but also in all the fast growing Asian market.
2- Jesse James American Outlaw. Jesse signed a deal with Gallery Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint, to write a Memoir (not his Memoirs), in a book to hit the shelves later this year. It is to be called “American Outlaw” and in it you can expect Jesse to “say it all” about some unknown facts about his life. Because as we all know, there is always 2 sides to a story.
3- Bikers Choice. Tucker Rocky President Steve Johnson wants to refocus on the V-Twin after-market business and muscle up Bikers Choice, its its V-Twin business group. Additional resources include the addition of Charlie Hadayia Jr. (ex S&S Cycle) to its management staff. will handle business development duties for Biker’s Choice while Director Richard Schafer will work on product and inventory. A few words of tribute to Jane Russell, the dark-haired siren of Hollywood whose acting in the 1943 film “The Outlaw” challenged the strict morality of Hollywood and of her time.
She was much more than the favorite pinup girl of US soldiers during World War II, much more than one of the Iconic movie goddesses of all time, she was a real life class act, like very few. (picture from archives)
There was no much doubt that Harley would win concessions from workers at its Kansas City Plant. A couple of hours ago, this Monday February 28, 2011, Harley-Davidson officially confirmed that following a vote by the plant’s unionized employees ratifying a new seven-year labor, it will move forward with the implementation of a new production system at its Kansas City, Mo. vehicle operations. The new operating structure includes the use of flexible workers — unionized employees – who work as required, depending on seasonal and other volume needs and will provide coverage for vacations and other absences. Harley-Davidson expects 540 full-time hourly unionized employees at the Kansas City facility, compared to about 685 today. First, let me mention that this Victory Police Motorcycles enterprise was not born at the Polaris headquarters, but from the initiative of a Victory Dealer in Tucson Arizona (Nita Buckner and Mike Shultz) with the support of a motor officer named Shawn Ramsey. Here is the story.
2007, the Tucson Law Enforcement Cycle Fest and Swap meet was held in downtown Tucson. Public is invited to watch the riding skills of Tucson’s finest police officers. 4 new Victory are lent for the officers to ride against the Kawasaki 1000’s and Harley Davidson Road Kings. Instantly they love the easy handling, performance and reliability and inquire as to why Victory had never offered a Police Motorcycle. Continue reading ‘Victory. I like the music of band The Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl, lead singer (also guitar & drums) talks about his passion for Harley-Davidson and makes a good case to promote the Mother Factory.
With sick and twisted in your face one-of-a-kind custom motorcycles and handmade parts, Long Island New York’ Chaos Cycle plans to wreak havoc on the motorcycle industry. And as soon as you load their website, partners George Stinsman tells you right away his philosophy: “Without order nothing can survive. Without chaos nothing can evolve.” And the custom bike you are looking at has known chaos as a former drag raced Panhead style bike before evolving a lot to end up as the machine featured here. Client Joey Serano visited the shop asking George if he could build a nice bike starting from a 1965 Panhead engine he inherited from his father. When the motor was delivered to Chaos Cycle it was literally in buckets. The engine was the heart of Joey’s father 1965 Panhead Drag Bike and when he took the bike apart in a barn years ago, he let it sit there until the barn burned down and nothing survived except this motor. There was a steel barrel hanging in the barn which had fallen over the motor during the fire and had managed to protect it… Continue reading ‘Panhead Style Lot Lizard’

Since December 1st, 2010, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is cracking down on website owners who publish articles endorsing a product or service without disclosing the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service. “Material Connection” means payments, freebies and traded products/services, samples exchanged between vendors and writers of those endorsements.
The same rules already exist for all other non digital medias since a very long time, here in the US, Europe, Asia and most developed countries around the world. The legislator just try to catch up with a relatively new media – Internet – where “pay-for-endorsement” is a practice employed in all sectors, including the motorcycle industry. When the legs are weak and your buddy (or your lady!) is not around to help you push your Harley-davidson touring bike backwards, you will be glad to have installed a reverse gear system. Bert Baker conceived one very easy to install and use. This brief video to demonstrate how to go to and from reverse gear. As you can see, The Black Label Collection is not black. Harley-davidson describes it as “born from the Dark Custom movement with an honest, authentic style that has been chopped, bobbed and redesigned to satisfy the latest generation of women riders.”
Featured are 2 examples. The women’s Washed Tunic Length Tank and the Sublimated Tunic Tee both with a new silhouette: longer in length, figure hugging and fashion-forward. Available in XS – 3W sizes. I like the fact that the #1 Harley logo appears discreetly. The complete collection for men and women includes jackets, caps, shirts, gloves and more. The New Black Label Collection is available starting in February at most Harley-Davidson dealerships.

He was born to a motorcycling family in 1951, and spent much of his youth either working in the family’s dealership or tearing up the tracks of Southern California as an amateur scrambler, dirt tracker and road racer. He turned pro in 1969, and set numerous records with his Daytona 200 win in 1972. Emde and his father became the first (and so far only) father son pair to win the Daytona 200. Those close to me know that I am not prejudiced against any national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, brand of motorcycle, etc. When Ben Harris, executive publisher of Rides Magazine showed me this video, I thought that it was time for me to show a side of urban bike culture that most people don’t get to see. I don’t endorse or support any club in particular but have respect for all those who ride.
