New and old board trackers, don’t betray the spirit of board tracking when updating your driveline with a new open belt system. Conceived especially for this type of bikes (although evidently it looks very cool on any old school machine), the Board Track HT Belt Drive Series is as pure and minimalist as it can be with all of the advantages of the H.O.T. set-up. It is packaged with the 2 inch H.O.T. Belt, the Evil Hooker 7 inch Clutch and a billet aluminum transmission support. Available for Straight or Taper Shaft (pre 84) transmission applications and in raw or polished finish. Evil’s Board Track belt drives have a patented self-locating bearing designed to ensure proper alignment between the transmission bolts and main shaft. Evil Engineering.

Published by October 16th, 2009 in Builders, Customs, Editorial and Events.
Willie’s Tropical Tattoo Show was my 1st pit stop in Daytona. Thousands of others had the same idea. Seems that it is the 1st place to stop by not only to look at bikes but also to take the pulse of the industry and of Biketoberfest. I announced to many the unfortunate news about Buell Motorcycles and although the microphone was given to me a couple of times, it didn’t go beyond a few words (you know that I prefer to write…) and I spent my time checking out some very nice Triumphs, Nortons & Indians. Master of ceremony Willie had the good idea to order a short shower just after the trophy ceremony, enough to give us some new life after cooking all afternoon in 90F + temperature.
As you already know, a very emotional and visibly exhausted Erik Buell confirmed this morning Harley-Davidson decision to end Buell Motorcycles (see video). And today I feel a lot for somebody that I admire for pursuing his dream during 26 years. In business, for good or bad reasons, commercial and/or economical, some dreams have to end. In these sad circumstances all those belonging to the industry should feel Erik’s pain and the one of his 180 passionate and devoted collaboraters right now devastated in his East Troy, WI factory. Since his first bike bearing his name, a 1983 RW 750, to today October 15, 09, one can only admire a man whose philosophy has always been, even when supervised by Harley-Davidson, “If you have some crazy idea, I am listening”. His well known unconventional attitude has netted him numerous patents, the 3 most well known being. 1- Fuel in aluminum frame 2- Engine zero torsional load inside-out rotor front brake system 3- The underslung exhaust. I cannot imagine Erik uBell retiring from the motorcycle industry. The end of a dream is a start of a new one…Thank you Erik for all your accomplishments.

Motorcycle Sidecar. Litterarely.
Published by October 15th, 2009 in Builders, Customs and Editorial.Nowadays, a motorcycle sidecar might not arouse the same ecstasy as it used to, but the latest vehicle by Francois Knorreck is a sidecar with a difference that gives an entirely new definition to sidecars. Dubbed “Snaefell,” the 1000cc Laverda motorcycle has 3 exhausts, and offers a luxury ride in comparison to regular sidecars. The designer has employed different parts of a Kawasaki 1000RX and a number of cars to accomplish this machine. It took him 10 years and nearly 15,000 Euros to combine biking and luxury car ride in a single vehicle (thank you Jeff).
On My Way To Daytona Biketoberfest 2009
Published by October 14th, 2009 in Builders, Customs and Events.Tomorrow morning at 6 am I will be on my way to Daytona for the 18th edition of Daytona Biketoberfest. And during the 220 miles trip north to my destination I will probably think again of the year 1992, the 1st edition to which I participated. As the event objectives were, every following year we boosted tourism, brought new money to the city coffers and merchants, made it a shorter Daytona Bike Week and of course also made good business showing and selling our ware, bikes and shop tees. New Ducati Hypermotard 796. Under $10,000?
Published by October 14th, 2009 in Builders, Editorial and Events. The latest Ducati street machine will be in dealerships in November. And it seems that it will be priced under $10,000 USD. Not bad for a model of Italian engineering able to keep up with the rest of the pack thanks to a 82 horsepower engine producing 55.7 ft-pounds of torque to move a lightweight 368 pounds motorcycle. The ad campaign slogan is clear “Hypermotard 796. The New Way To Go Hyper”. And yes, you know who is going to rush to a Ducati dealer. The less than 25-year old crowd….Sportsbike heredity, minimalist and affordable is all what they want. Ducati will market it as the “perfect urban assault vehicle” and it’s exactly the way our youth wants to go. Hello Harley! Ducati Hypermotard 796

Easy Conversion Kits From Belt To Chain
Published by October 13th, 2009 in Builders, Customs, Driveline and Editorial. You may want to convert your bike, stock or custom, from a belt drive to a chain drive for many good reasons. Without any order, because you want added driveline strength, because you made your engine “bigger” or installed a new one, because you are looking for a different final drive ratio, because you need to gain clearance for wider rear tire, because you need to clear a passenger peg, for looks, etc and all the above! While talking to Don Baumunk, President of Fat Katz, I learned that he was holding tight to a quite interesting collection of Von Dutch memorabilia. Lucky him! New Reality TV Show With Detroit Bros
Published by October 12th, 2009 in Builders, Customs and Events.Producer Tom Beers think that that Detroit’s rusty aesthetic has a large audience appeal and that the city has a lot to be proud of regarding everything on wheels. And I agree. It’s official, the Discovery Channel is going to run a 13-episode series on James and Dave Kaye, the 2 brothers who founded Detroit Bros in 2002. You wonder: will the show concept be closer to “American Chopper” or to “Biker Build-Off” or “Monster Garage”? Continue reading ‘New Reality TV Show With Detroit Bros’

World’s Fastest Production Electric Motorcycle. 150 MPH.
Published by October 11th, 2009 in Builders, Customs and Editorial.San Francisco. In July 2007,The 3 founders of Mission Motors set up offices in a private garage, blocks from the historic Mission Street. They buy the company’s first motorcycle, a 1994 Ducati 900, then began the task of stripping out the engine and converting it to electric drive. Two months later, the 3 founders had turned that classic Ducati into one of the highest performing street legal electric motorcycles in the world. The Mission One is the fastest electric sport bike on the planet, which debuted at this year’s TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Conference to rave reviews. This motorcycle reaches 150 m.p.h. with 100 foot-pounds of instantaneous torque. And forget that tailpipe squeal and exhaust, the Mission One runs on a lithium ion battery pack with a 150-mile range, for zero carbon emissions. Price? $73.000. Mission Motors.

Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic socio-political organization governing the Gaza portion of the Palestinian Territories, has banned women from riding motorcycles saying the move was in keeping with “Arab traditions”. Men are no more allowed to carry women behind them as they drive their motorcycles. Hamas police is also regulating women proper clothing attire and controls the type of relations between men and women to verify their “legitimacy”. I wonder if women are still authorized to ride a motorcycle if it’s a one way trip to blow themselves up front of a Jewish cafe terrace. The European Union, and the United States and three other countries have classified Hamas as a terrorist organization.
Wild women and beautiful animals. No, it’s beautiful women and wild animals…No more sure!

“Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl. The priest asks, ‘Is that you, little Joey Pagano?” “Yes, Father, it is”. “And who was the girl you were with?”. “I can’t tell you, Father. I don’t want to ruin her reputation”. “Well, Joey, I’m sure to find out her name sooner or later, so you may as well tell me now.
Was it Tina Minetti?” ‘I cannot say. “Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?”. “I’ll never tell”. “Was it Nina Capelli?”. ‘I’m sorry, but I cannot name her. “Was it Cathy Piriano?””‘My lips are sealed”. “Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?”. “Please, Father, I cannot tell you”.
The priest sighs in frustration. “You’re very tight lipped, and I admire that. But you’ve sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself”. Joey walks back to his pew and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, “What’d you get?”. “Four months vacation and five good leads”
