Black Hills Rally. Harley-Davidson Leaving Rapid City For Sturgis

You remember that during Daytona Bike Week, Harley-Davidson abandoned its traditional corporate presence (new bikes, parts and clothing line) at the Ocean Convention Center and moved to Beach Street. Under new management and refocusing its objectives, Harley-Davidson saved money and at the same time moved closer to its customers. Visiting the new Beach street location I wrote at the time that I enjoyed very much seeing Harley “in the street” with employees and bikers mixing together like it is supposed to be during a motorcycle rally. Italian Free Style Custom Motorcycle. Mamma Mia!

As I mentioned before, be ready for an Italian top custom motorcycles invasion. And you are going to see quite a lot of them during the upcoming Sturgis AMD World Championship Of Custom Bike Building. None of them look like what you have seen before in bike shows or in glossy magazine pages. A new trend, much more in Europe than in the US, is towards high tech shaped “bony” bikes using old looking parts (for their timeless beauty), and intriguing the observer by new sophisticated steering and/or suspension systems. Triumph Thruxton SE. The Cafe Racer Reinvented.

Cafe Racers. You were a Ton Up Boy or at least remember your friends racing them and they still stir your emotions. Or you were too young or even not born, but love their sport design from the past. Motorcycle nostalgia is selling very well if 2 conditions are met at the same time: today’s reliability and affordability. And as I told you several times before, right now no motorcycle brand other than Triumph has a line up meeting all these conditions at the same time. Perfect example is the Thruxton Special Edition with its classic racing stance and stripe paint job, but also modern technology: clean running fuel injected 865 cc twin engine,  beefy adjustable forks, strong braking via 320 mm discs. Except black, nothing means more British Speed Racer than a red powder coated frame complemented by a black out engine in contrast to a crystal white bodywork. At a MSRP of $10,650, a special edition tempting for both baby boomers and youngsters. MSRP $10,648. Triumph Motorcycles.

I Bet You Never Changed Your Motorcycle Engine Oil.

I mean 100% of your engine oil. We all change our oil by draining and refilling the oil tank and change the oil filter. But we never get 100% of the oil out of the engine. We pretend like it’s an insignificant amount or it’s not even there. Yet there is more than 24oz. left in the engine, 20% of the oiling system capacity! Upon engine start up, this old oil mixes with the fresh oil and starts the breakdown and discoloration of the fresh oil immediately. So, you are all interested by The Scavenger TOTAL Oil Change. Very easy to use. For almost all Harley-Davidson models including custom bikes. Watch! then go to their website to see a demo on your model.

Joke Of The Week

A beautiful woman went to the gynecologist. The doctor took one look at the woman and all his professionalism flew out the window. He immediately told her to get undressed. After she disrobed the doctor began to stroke her thigh. While Doing so he asked her, ‘Do you know what I am doing?’ ‘Yes,’ she replied, ‘You are checking for abrasions or dermatological abnormalities.’ ‘That’s right,’ said the doctor. He then began to fondle her Breasts. ‘Do you know what I am doing now?’ he asked.’Yes,’ she said, ‘You are checking for lumps which might indicate Breast cancer.’ ‘Correct,’ replied the shady doctor. Finally, he mounted his patient and started having sexual intercourse with her. He asked, ‘Do you know what I am doing now?’ ‘Yes,’ she said, ‘You’re getting syphilis, which is why I came here in the first place.’ (Sent by Troy)

Good Times Again For Bikers In New Orleans

First, let me anticipate your remarks. Yes, it’s called New Orleans Bike Week although it doesn’t last exactly one week. But it will soon…Second, I was present during last year’s inaugural event and I can tell you that the place is as safe as any major city, even safer due to the organization. This being said, the second edition is set from May 5th to 9th with parties spreading from the “Riverwalk” on the banks of the Mississippi to the French Quarter. Thanks to the Broken Spoke Saloon crew and a partnership with the famous “House Of Blues”, you can expect almost endless music and comedy acts. Be amazed by the display of bikes including those built by the members of the Limpnickie Collective. Witness the skills of The Wall of Death, Freestyle Motocross and Ball of Steel riders. Solid Brass Exhaust Tips

The only think that I – and many of you – will regret is that these beautiful solid brass exhaust tips are available only for 1 3/4″ pipes. Probably because most all vintage and most new “old school” bikes use exhaust systems with this OD size. Who is going to be the 1st to offer them for 2″, 2.5″ & 3″ pipes? Available in 3 designs, their overall length is 1 1/2″ when installed, are sold in pairs, and require easy drilling of your pipes for installation. Made in America at a great price of $119.00. At Deville Cycles.

Chris Callen Asking. Are There Any Patriots Left…Really?

Chris Callen, Chief Editor of grass roots magazine Cycle Source and leader of the movement for a “Generational Remake Of The Motorcycle Business”, has a new rant about the lack of patriotism of many of his countrymen. Both of us hope that you readers, either living here in the US or abroad, will comment about patiotism in your own country.

“Cyril my man, I know that your site is an international forum so I will ask those from outside the USA to bear with me for just a minute. I just got back from a trip to Canada for a few days to meet with some business contacts and it was a good excuse to take a ride. During my time there I was literally amazed at these people and their sense of patriotism. Now I’m not sure but I don’t think it was any particular holiday for their country but everywhere I looked I saw the maple leaf flag proudly displayed. This wasn’t just on office or government buildings but on cars, bikes, their homes even their persons carried the pride of their country. I was so taken with this pride that I decided to buy a maple leaf flag to ride back into the USA with, where I had planned to buy an identical American flag to run as well for the final leg.
